Congrats blondes Flowers

Fraternal triplets are more common than identical or monozygotic triplets. Around 80% or more of triplets are the fraternal variety. This is largely because most of the factors which influence other multiple births (such as twins), which still play a part in conceiving non identical triplets. There is less likelihood of monozygotic or identical triplets occurring, as these are dependent on the splitting of one embryo into three exact zygotes. And this understandably is a very rare biological event

I googled!Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/12/2016 09:49

I've def been over thinking this 😂 So was 3 eggs and 3 sperm -

Fraternal triplets (tri-zygotic) are created when three eggs are released and each is fertilized by a different sperm

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/12/2016 10:24

Yes,3 eggs and 3 sperm.

I was a bit stunned about natural delivery but I suppose back then insurance/ compensation didn't play such a big part. Also would there have been scans?

newbiz · 10/12/2016 10:30

Thanks for this. It makes sense now, I couldn't work out why the doctor was wearing an old white lab coat, I hadn't seen one of those for so long.

MiracletoCome · 10/12/2016 10:33

Didn't know this was on so nrtt. I will watch on catch up though. MN is good for finding out about stuff I might have missed. It looks good especially now Westworld and the Missing has finished

TheHiphopopotamus · 10/12/2016 10:37

Also would there have been scans?

This is the UK but my mother had a scan with DS back in the late 70's. She said you couldn't see anything though, it was just (what looked like) a series of bubbles.

Frazzled2207 · 10/12/2016 11:00

In 1978 my mum had a scan with me but only to confirm I was breech, it wasn't standard.

Excellent programme and I think Sterling Brown is excellent -loved him in the OJ Simpson drama

HalfShellHero · 10/12/2016 11:42

My great aunt had a scan inthe 70s just because they suspected twins, they were right, it was i think in extenuating circumstances..

SenecaFalls · 10/12/2016 18:19

It makes sense now, I couldn't work out why the doctor was wearing an old white lab coat, I hadn't seen one of those for so long.

Interesting. White lab coats are still worn by doctors in the US so that did not signal flashback to me.

I've just watched the first episode of this, I thoroughly enjoyed it. That was such a great twist at the end! I can't decide whether to watch it at uk pace or binge watch the next 9 episodes.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/12/2016 23:18

Where can you see all the next episodes?

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/12/2016 09:29

Watch at uk pace. Don't binge 😛😛😛😛😛

You appreciate it more weekly

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/12/2016 12:28

Nah,I much prefer watching a box setGrin

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 12/12/2016 23:00

Just watched the pilot. I had goosebumps at the end. Liking it so far, looking forward to episode 2.

JosephineMaynard · 13/12/2016 09:29

Just caught up with this last night.

I was surprised they hadn't give straight for a c-section given it was triplets and high risk. I know that bit's 36 years ago, but even so.....

And did the parents adopt the abandoned baby to replace the stillborn baby then?

youngestisapsycho · 13/12/2016 22:41

Well I just cried most of the way through the second episode!

iogo · 13/12/2016 22:43

OMG, I'm in Canada and I LOVE This Is Us. Off to actually read the thread now. Grin

Destinysdaughter · 13/12/2016 23:23

Love how this is developing and yet another twist at the end!

IhatchedaSnorlax · 14/12/2016 00:20

Oh no, I didn't like that twist at the end (although I was glad they're alive as assumed they'd died as they weren't on screen together!)

Great show!

EachandEveryone · 14/12/2016 00:22

Just brilliant. Interesting how Ken Olin diected he was n Thirtysomething and Brothers and Sisters and diected some of those epsodes. It smacks of both series.

EachandEveryone that's SO weird I was just thinking it's very much like brothers and sisters/thirtysomething!

I hatchedasnorlax you get that 'grandad' is Miguel yea? Not Jack (played by Milo) so we have to wonder what happened to Jack.

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 14/12/2016 08:30

She was still wearing the moon necklace that he gave her. She said she'd never take it off but if something happened and she hated him surely she'd have binned it or given it to Kate?

DispatchReady · 14/12/2016 14:15

Just watched and I also noticed Ken Olin come up in the credits! Brothers and Sisters was my fave show ever and I'm really liking this!

I think Jack must have died and she then married his friend. Good twist as I thought both parents were dead and we were going to see Kate wearing her mum's necklace.

So Kevin and Kate are in LA and Randall is in NY? Was wondering why they hadn't met up. Seems like there's a back story between the brothers as Kevin mentioned he hadn't been in contact since "that shit went down".
