I'm really enjoying This Is Us. The going backwards and forwards is unusual. It's quite slow paced, which is interesting. I can actually remember most of the character's names!

I noticed that Randall's hand was shaking right by the end - emotion or a hint of something to come?

duploinmyteaagain · 10/03/2017 09:30

Really enjoying this even though it's a bit schmaltzy. I like that it's slow and love the soundtrack! Wonder how Kate affords the very expensive fat camp though!
Slightly traumatised every ep waiting for the Dad to die now.

duploinmyteaagain · 10/03/2017 09:34

I also loved The Big C (I think!), brilliant series with Laura Linney. Used to be on bbc4 then Amazon Prime were showing it. But now they charge around £2 an ep - madness?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/03/2017 10:23

Hope Kate isn't going over to no 13 .....

And yes Randall's shakes may mean he is developing his fathers illness

BadTasteFlump · 10/03/2017 14:21

I don't think she will - as much as Toby is annoying, he's so much better than no.13 man.

I assumed Randall's shaky hand was another sign of all the stress he's under and how he's not really coping Sad

EachandEveryone · 11/03/2017 16:50

I thought the dad has cancer has he got something else as well?

OP posts:
BubbleBed · 12/03/2017 13:32

I didn't think Randalls dad has anything hereditary? I thought he had cancer? Or aids has crossed my mind.

BubbleBed · 12/03/2017 13:32

I can't like Toby anymore. I used to, but he's a knob right now.

katienana · 12/03/2017 20:40

I think William has stomach cancer. There was an episode where Randall wife said he went blind from stress at one point.

TizzyDongue · 13/03/2017 16:12

Why did Randall's birth mother die?

Delatron · 13/03/2017 16:48

I think she was a drug addict. It wasn't made clear but I think that was the assumption; that she died of an overdose.

notaflyingmonkey · 14/03/2017 18:22

Does anyone know how many more episodes are left?

HairsprayQueen · 15/03/2017 10:06

It's only just finished in the US, not sure how long ahead they were.

I'm wary of googling anything as I don't want any spoilers!

DispatchReady · 15/03/2017 14:08

Watched last night's - poor Randall Sad

BadTasteFlump · 15/03/2017 14:13

Yes the scene with him and his brother at the end really got me.

I thought the whole episode was really well acted actually - the argument particularly. Milo V is a brilliant actor IMO (and gorgeous too) Grin

Graphista · 17/03/2017 06:15

Catching up.

I actually like that Toby isn't perfect, he has a flaw.

Some cancers are hereditary.

'What would jack do?' Well depends if he's sober I guess.

Must admit I found it moving that Kevin knew Randall wasn't ok and went to him.

IhatchedaSnorlax · 18/03/2017 12:13

Just watched the most recent episode - loved it. I thought the mum going away was going to have led to the dad dying & hence Kate's estrangement from her but maybe not!

I'm so suspicious of Miguel - hope he's a good guy.

Poor Randall, how could no one else see what was happening to him. I loved how Kevin went to him but hope he can pull it back for his show & get some confidence in himself back.

I love Toby - fun sincere guy! Hope he & Kate end up happy.

Burntbum · 18/03/2017 12:19

Love this programme and apparently there's to be a second series Smile Season two will apparently start being broadcast in the Autumn in the US although no set date yet.

Graphista · 18/03/2017 12:24

Good news re second series

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/03/2017 13:34

I got a bit confused. Why was Randall crying as a child and an adult

But glad Kevin went to him instead of play

ChuckDaffodils · 18/03/2017 13:50

I'm an episode in front of the rest of you and I am just placemarking. I love this series.

Graphista · 18/03/2017 14:13

Blondes - overwhelming anxiety/depression. I think he was glad Kevin went to him as although they're all the same age within the foo Randall has been cast in the role of eldest, responsible one. Expected by Kevin and Kate and puts pressure on himself to keep it all together.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/03/2017 14:22

Thanks graphista

Graphista · 18/03/2017 14:26

Sure. In the 'previously on' bit they showed the bit where Randall's wife said 'coping' was Randall's vice, that it had led to him having a breakdown when she was pregnant with her eldest.

OutToGetYou · 18/03/2017 14:45

Love this, cried several times at this weeks episode. Though I feel bad that Kevin's play will be finished.

I'm not 100% keen on Toby, really didn't like him turning up at the retreat, too needy and a bit controlling, plus his jealousy over the other guy. If a guy was like that with me I'd be backing right off.

Hoping Miguel turns out to have been a good mate to Jack, think he will do after his talk with Kevin.

Starting to wonder if Jack commits suicide....
