Anyone else watching this madness?!

OP posts:
Glastonbury · 17/11/2016 10:49

I have just watched series 1 for the first time. I did spot Steve and also Sara. Sara got down to the last few as her photo was on the table when they were doing the matching.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 17/11/2016 10:55

I agree msrissoto. I can't believe he applied twice! He must think meeting someone is the be all and end all.

EssentialHummus · 17/11/2016 11:12

I wonder if the producers invited them both back? Seems as likely as them both applying twice, no?

iamamickey · 17/11/2016 12:15

Where can I watch the first series please?

Glastonbury · 17/11/2016 12:41

It's on All4 Channel 4's catch up service.

Alfieisnoisy · 17/11/2016 15:13

I suspect they were asked back tbh.

Destinysdaughter · 17/11/2016 16:10

After watching this pile of crap I do feel cheated TBH. The so called science was bollocks, they may as well have pulled names out of a hat for how successful it was.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 17/11/2016 17:46

I felt so sorry for Lucie. Steve shouldn't have made it through. If someone thinks they have to give up smoking and fix their teeth to have a relationship, they probably aren't ready to marry a stranger.

Has anyone watched the Australian one? 'tis fab because there are more episodes and they had the truly fabulous idea of having a meal, half way through, where all the couples meet each other. They all get so competitive and at least one couple, has a domestic.

In the Australian one they always ask them if they are willing to move across country if matched. They say 'yes'. Then they pair a city girl with a farmer and watch it implode a few months later.

MrsJamin · 17/11/2016 17:52

Ooh I might watch the aussie one, that sounds fun! All the UK lot know each other too, I wonder whether any of them thought they would have preferred someone else's match!?

iamamickey · 17/11/2016 18:25

Oh Mrs!! How do I know that? How do they know each other.

Where can I watch the Aussie one?

APlaceOnTheCouch · 17/11/2016 18:30

The Australia on is much better

SaraMay · 17/11/2016 23:27

Hi all, Sara here. Thank you for all your lovely comments, it was a very unique thing to be a part of and although it didn't turn out as I'd have hoped, I don't regret it at all. I only jumped on to let Glastonbury know that I definitely didn't apply for the first series, I was actually living in another country when they would have been casting for that one! After the show started airing we found the other brides and grooms on social media, which is how we have all got in touch.

QueenMortificado · 17/11/2016 23:34

Sara's really here????! Hiiiiii!

Was it heavily edited or did things pretty much pan out like they did on the show? Was Adam as interested in football and drinking as they made out?

Wish you all the best of luck for your future Flowers

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 17/11/2016 23:34

Blush Hello Sara. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! Best wishes to youFlowers

canigoontheipad · 17/11/2016 23:39

Sara you're going to get hit with a gazillion questions now! Wish you all the best x

SaraMay · 17/11/2016 23:46

I think the easiest way to see it is that they filmed it over a number of months and made a few hours worth of tv so it had to be edited quite heavily to get to the end timings! Ad was a lovely guy and I enjoyed the time we spent together very much...he does love sport as much in real life but we both loved our wine! That day was 40 degrees and we'd had cameras with us a lot for the previous few days so I was just a bit fed up overall. We talked it through and had a lovely evening and rest of the honeymoon together!

Thank you for the lovely wishes. I'll try to answer what I can!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 17/11/2016 23:52

Are you seeing anyone at the moment Sara? Do you think the science was genuinely used or do you suspect it was names out a hatGrin

SaraMay · 17/11/2016 23:59

There's definitely something to the science but it obviously is a lot more than that too. Adam and I got on really well and clicked from the start (despite the edit!), just not enough for a forever relationship. I think we all got something very positive out of it and I have all these amazing new people in my life now too! I'm dating again but taking my time Smile

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 18/11/2016 00:02

Do you think the matches should have also focused on a geographical match? It seemed hard for people with the travel and having to move?

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 18/11/2016 00:07

Cool. All the participants seemed like lovely people, good luck for the future. Smile

SaraMay · 18/11/2016 00:07

Everyone has to be willing to live in London to take part. I guess geographical changes sometime happen in relationships with jobs, family etc and it's part of the process of learning to compromise and build a future together. Caroline and Adam appeared to have the biggest geographical challenge but they're still together and making it work!
There are just so many factors in happy and successful relationships that can't be measured by science, which is why some of them work and some don't. In the American series they always go by city and it's a different result each series. The current series had 2/3 stay together.

Moltenpink · 18/11/2016 00:11

Hi Sara, loved the show. Can I ask a very nosey question, feel free to ignore me! Are you still married? Or did you get an annulment?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 18/11/2016 00:13

So, if it's not personal... (and please feel free to ignore me!) What do you think they got wrong? Why didn't it work for you? (Although, so positive and exciting at the beginning!)

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 18/11/2016 00:14

That's meant to say 'too personal!' Obviously it's personal 😳
