Oh Jane is on this thread as well!! Hmm

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/10/2016 14:20

They've both said 'I'm not even lying!' about 10x so farGrin

Will be very interesting to see if they last!

BastardGoDarkly · 19/10/2016 14:23

Who's Jane and what is she talking about?!

Dame do they do updates?!

OP posts:
DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/10/2016 14:28

They followed them through the last series.

The80sweregreat · 19/10/2016 14:49

The two couples on last year both split. One discoverd him on tinder, the other two lasted a bit longer but i did read somewhere that it didnt work for them either. Clark is lovely looking , but a bit too young I think. I have a feeling it wont last.
I also am surprised that a vicar is involved, same one as last time i believe.
This show is madness! She didnt look too happy at the best man speech, he does sound like a player.

BastardGoDarkly · 19/10/2016 14:51

The best man's speech was awful!!

Not interested in looks as long as she isn't red headed with freckles and has no gums. Right. Hmm

The80sweregreat · 19/10/2016 15:02

Yes, just a bit immature I think, I have a feeling she will be too much her own woman for him? I said this last year but this experiment was done years ago by a radio show up north and the girl in it not only divorced him, but also then married ( and is now divorcing) Jeremy Kyle!! I found that out on here last year.. I am shocked they are doing another series when last years couples didn't work out, surely that's enough to make them realise that science isn't the answer to finding love? opposites attract too - I ;ve found that to be true over the years watching my friends all get married ,( and divorced, but after many many years being married)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/10/2016 15:04

She married Jeremy Kyle?

The80sweregreat · 19/10/2016 15:11

Yes, The woman who took part in a show like this years ago. It was a northern radio show that paid for it all. The woman involved divorced him, then met a married Jeremy Kyle a few years later! Its all been done before and doesnt seem to work!

MitzyLeFrouf · 19/10/2016 15:24

But its nice to see the 'scientifical' part of their union (did anybody else pick up on that)

Grin

Yes!

MitzyLeFrouf · 19/10/2016 15:26

I just don't get why these people want to marry a stranger?! They were 26 or 27 years of age, years and years ahead of them to find someone they're suited to. It all seems so bonkers and so desperate. And the parents pride and happiness, so bizarre. If I told my mother I was going to marry a total stranger she'd lock me in the garden shed until I'd come to my senses. And quite right too! Grin

The80sweregreat · 19/10/2016 15:31

Mitzy, my parents would have had a heart attack! Lol. Like yours, i would have been sent out in the cold, or completely disowned. I know that this is the norm in some cultures, but to do it voluntarily like this seems odd. Maybe there is a lot of money involved ? last years couples both went on nice honeymoons, or they just want to be on TV! They should have watched last years series first..

MitzyLeFrouf · 19/10/2016 15:36

Even in cultures where arranged marriages are the norm the couples at least get to know one another before hand. I just watched this thinking 'what are you doing you crazy people!'.

And yes I wonder if they watched last year's series. One couple had no sexual chemistry but got on okay (are they still together?) but the other couple, or the bloke at least, was just weird. And I couldn't believe the amount of applicants they received for this series. I'm sure they said over 3000. Shock

The80sweregreat · 19/10/2016 15:44

No, i had high hopes for one couple last year, but they have parted.
3000 people is a lot, i do think its a case of the money or just being on tv thats lured them in! I cannot think of any other reason why!
First dates is a much better format.

MitzyLeFrouf · 19/10/2016 15:50

Yeah with First Dates all they have to do is survive a steak and a bottle of wine and then off they pop if they don't like one another. Although Married at First Sight is better for those times when you're in the mood for feeling Shock and Confused

I don't think the vicar would be involved if there was a financial incentive for couples. Although to be honest at least if there was cash involved I'd understand these people a little better. Maybe you're right and it is the lure of TV fame though!

The80sweregreat · 19/10/2016 16:17

Dunno, its weird. The couple who did the radio show version way back in 2000 ( long time ago anyway ) seemed really mis matched then too. Just as last years ones were. Science cant answer everything it seems!
Will tune in again though , just to see if this lot fair any better ( but i doubt it).

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/10/2016 17:11

TBF I wouldn't put the effort in with Jeremy Kyle eitherWink

RebootYourEngine · 19/10/2016 17:22

Jeremy Kyle and his wife (or stb ex wife) were together for quite a while.

I would do it because i cant be bothered dating but i dont qualify because i have been married before and have a child.

Surely these people have previous series'. 2/3 couples in the first series of the US one are still together i think.

PikachuSayBoo · 19/10/2016 17:25

Wasn't Jeremy Kyle the presenter of the radio show which did this?

The woman married the man. Then later divorced him and married Jeremy??

MitzyLeFrouf · 19/10/2016 17:29

Yep.

How bad must her assigned spouse have been that she went on to find life with Kyle to be preferable?

The mind boggles.

The80sweregreat · 19/10/2016 20:31

I know, it blew me away that an early 'reality show' contestant ( back then these type of shows were just becoming big) should then go on to marry Jezza! She is very pretty too! ( or was, back then) the radio show bought them a flat ( must be worth a few bob now) ..it is bizarre.

Naicehamshop · 19/10/2016 21:36

Hmmm...Clark came across as lovely at the beginning, but then his real self started to come through towards the end imo.

Also predict her being a vegan is going to annoy him... !

ManagersDilemma · 19/10/2016 21:37

I got a real 'player' vibe from Clark straight away. I agree about the mask slipping towards the end and also about his friends giving away perhaps more than he had hoped! Can't wait to see the next episode.

GCHQMonitoring · 19/10/2016 23:51

I'm watching this now, I've nog watched it previously.

The commentator said it's a legally binding wedding. So when they split do they have to go through the whole divorce process?
