I don't know how to express it, but I feel as if that was all a big con somehow. Felt bad for Anastacia but she didn't do the honourable thing imo.

I'd bet anything that she offered to retire but they persuaded her to stay. I think they want the more expensive contestants to make it to Blackpool. I thought that happened with Peter Andre last year, he was over marked and they made a dodgy decision in his dance off with Jamelia and I'm pretty sure it's because they wanted him in Blackpool and not her.

Just had another close up look at James' ABS and concluded that they are make-up or photo touch ups or both.

Still in shock over tonight's endingConfused and Sad for both contestants.

Anastasia should have bowed out, she will not be able to keep up with strenuous dances in future weeks as it was a very tame dance this week because of her injury. I felt sorry for Melvin he really wasn't great, Jeanette had her work cut out , but would have liked to get another shot at it which is only fair.
Loved the group dance tonight who was the female dancer ? even my daughter , not the biggest SCD fan was wowing at the lifts!

I did admit upthread that I'd read the result on Digital Spy last night and thought it would be controversial. Melvin got the lowest number of viewer votes unfortunately. Anastacia did look genuinely terrified at the thought of dancing again, but I'm not sure if she can go on.

Ali Bastian (I think) hurt her foot and ended up doing the dance off barefoot?

Anastasia did say she didn't want to dance again but would as it's part of strictly. I reckon Strictly didn't want to take the risk of her being worse.
Not sure it was the right thing to do letting her through but in an un injured dance of she probably would have won.

I've now idea why Anastasia is famous, mind you I've never heard of most of this year's crop. Ed Balls and the female newsreader whose name I've forgoten are the only 2 I recognise I think. Suspect Ed Balls gets votes because people know who the feck he is.
I'm sure Susan Calman said she'd love to do stictly can't we have her?

I love Oti and Danny. Oti is so beautiful it makes me happy just to see her face.

I want Naga to do better because she is so elegant.

I love Oksana and Katya. What fun. They are great.

I find Daisy Lowe very easy to watch. She looks great with Aljaž. As would I of course.

I think Rob Rinder could be good.

I'm just so happy that it's on and that I can watch it, it makes autumn fabulous dahlings for me, I love it all.

They could pair her with one of the women, some of them are short. They should bring back Aliona for Susan. She's the sexiest (and best) female dancer they've had

Apparently she doesn't think it's appropriate for a mother of her advanced age to be dressing like every other female contestant ever (bar Widdie). Hmm

It doesn't seem to have occurred to her that this is, by implication, not entirely polite to all the many many other female celebrities who have happily worn little spangly numbers despite being mothers over the age of thirty.

However I did think her waltz dress was rather nice, and at this stage I'd rather she stuck with that look than do some ghastly psychological breakthrough about The Power Of Dance Enabled Me To Love My Body After Childbirth.

Brendan can probably choreograph next week's dance to avoid aggravating Anastasia's injury. I don't think it's particularly unfair that Melvin goes. Wasn't it around three or four series ago that they got rid of the dance-off and it was always the one with the lowest votes that went? This is no different.

It is different because that isn't how this series is set up.

In the long run it doesn't matter as neither Anastasia or Melvin were going to get far IMO. I do think A should probably have pulled out as she's going to be hampered by the current injury and also her likely being scared of doing it again.

I thought Anastacia seemed very surprised and displeased that she was in the dance off* and then played the "poor me, I'm injured" card. Although obviously I do feel sorry for her and her injury and am not suggesting it's not genuine.

I would have thought that as she couldn't dance she should have conceded to Melvin and therefore I felt that pressure had been applied by her "people" to have the decision made by the public votes, knowing that she would get to stay in.

*I do get that as an American she might not be so willing to do the disingenuous thing they do of "oh I just KNOW it's going to be me going out this week" so when they are in the dance off they looked resigned and accepting. Makes me Hmm when even Danny and Ote were doing that "please please don't let it be us" followed by MASSIVE relief routine even though by then they would have known they would easily win in a dance off with Anastacia and in reality wouldn't have given a shit.

Yes I picked up an element of playing the 'poor me' 'injured' card by Anastasia when she found she was in the dance off.

I sympathise with her injury but can't help but think there is something of the Diva in her.

I'm also surprised she was thrown across the floor (on her bum) - from under her arms.
