At that point Claire reminded me of my DH's grandma who was a similar vintage to Claire, getting fat was tantamount to the worst thing a woman could do.

Lessstressedhemum · 31/05/2016 14:53

I tried to see the getting g fat thing as health adviceHmm but getting fat, in ye oldie post war days, was just about the worst thing you could do. Obviously it meant you were slovenly, with no respect for your husbandly lord and master. Oh aye, she'd be letting Roger down that much he'd like as no take up with a young thing if Brianna got fat!

AKAmyself · 31/05/2016 19:42

I came over all bitchy when i read that, since in a separate section she mentions that Brianna is a (presumably US) size 16 - and my first thought was "LADY, that ship hath sailed loooooong ago!"

but seriously Claire is ridiculously shallow about her looks for someone supposedly so intelligent.

TheHiphopopotamus · 31/05/2016 19:52

Agreed. Why bother training to be a surgeon/'healer' when you could just stay thin and look pretty instead? After all, that's all the menfolk want Hmm

AKAmyself · 31/05/2016 20:49

mind you, if i had to go back in time and reappear at sex god Jamie Fraser's doorstep out of nowhere after 20 years, I'd also be freaking out about how I look.

Lessstressedhemum · 01/06/2016 13:43

Is have to go on a diet and regime for about a year before I'd be brave enough. No to mention planning what I'd want to wear, have my hair done etc. Don't think I'd have the foresight to take penicillin, I'd be too busy stressing about Street h marks and saggy boobs!

Lessstressedhemum · 01/06/2016 13:43

Obviously, that's stretch marks. I hate tablet typing.

snozzlemaid · 01/06/2016 19:09

Seasons 3 & 4 have been confirmed by Starz on twitter!

Sunnymeg · 01/06/2016 19:17

Whoo hoo. I so want Masi Oka to play Mr Willoughby, he won't though! The search will be on for Lord John now.

pixieg1rl · 01/06/2016 20:04

I know we're divided on Lord John, but I'm interested to see how that one is cast.

AKAmyself · 01/06/2016 20:45

3 AND 4!!!! awesome stuff. s i'm still halfway through voyager idk what to expect from season 4, but here's what i really hope for season 3:

that they don't age Claire and Jamie. I want them young and hot
that they give us lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of Jamie by in a cave, Jamie in prison, Jamie in Helswhatever (sorry forgot the name) - basically the first part of Voyager.
That the whole snorefest that is the historical research into Jamie's whereabouts and all the nonsense about Geillis is dealt with swiftly and efficiently
they don't have enough budget to show claire in boston because who cares
that whoever is cast as Lord John is hot enough for the internet to explode with Jamie/Lord John slashfic!
that they somehow manage to recycle the guy who played the Comte St Germain in another part (older Fergus, maybe?)

AKAmyself · 01/06/2016 20:45

pixie i'm not hating lord john yet. Will I eventually?

pixieg1rl · 01/06/2016 21:03

Oh how I wish you were in charge of story development aka. Could I just request an entire episode of Roger in the bath getting himself worked up over Bree?

TheHiphopopotamus · 01/06/2016 21:03

Yes, yes to everything you've just said about S3 aka!

I think a lot of this series, the focus has been on Claire and I'd like to see the first part of s3 be more about Jamie.

Fwiw, I don't hate Lord John, he just doesn't interest me in any way, shape or form. Out of all the characters to give a spin off series to, he'd be near the bottom of the list. Although I have great faith in the showrunners casting decisions and scriptwriting.

Saw a lovely pic of Richard Rankin the other day too and I'm really looking forward to see what he does with Roger.

pixieg1rl · 01/06/2016 21:04

I don't hate Lord John at all, I quite like the idea of some Jamie/Lord John slash fiction

TheHiphopopotamus · 01/06/2016 21:08

Could I just request an entire episode of Roger in the bath getting himself worked up over Bree?

That wasn't what I had in mind when I said this saw a lovely pic of Richard Rankin the other day too and I'm really looking forward to see what he does with Roger but now it's out there, I think we should run with it Wink

Lessstressedhemum · 02/06/2016 15:05

3 + 4!!! Fantastic! I get to drool over a Jamie who is not far to young for me!
I don't hate John grey, I just think he's a bit nothing. His on!y use is as a plot device to introduce conflict and tension into Jamie's already fraught existence and to solve the William issue.

See, I like Roger, but I can't bring myself to lust over him, he just always seems so young and confused, even when he's 40. You can never go wrong with another hot highlander in a kilt, though!

Jane054848 · 02/06/2016 20:35

Beyond excited about seasons 3&4!!! Aka, your plot requests are genius. Yes to the Comte being grown up Fergus! We have to get this idea in front of the casting people somehow!

I love Lord John Grey. In fact I love him so much that I got quite cross with Jamie in book 8 (and as I think I've mentioned, I will forgive Jamie pretty much anything) for being horrible to him.

TheHiphopopotamus · 02/06/2016 20:51

Yes, but wouldn't it bea tiny bit wrong to fancy Fergus? Wink

snozzlemaid · 02/06/2016 21:02

It could work, you know. The Comte could have been Fergus' father. He was born in the brothel so I'm sure his mother probably had no idea who the father of her baby was.

AKAmyself · 02/06/2016 21:46

It could work, you know. The Comte could have been Fergus' father.

WE'RE GENIUSES!

TheHiphopopotamus · 02/06/2016 21:52

I think you two should get together and write a script treatment for the next series Grin

Jane054848 · 02/06/2016 22:09

Given that this is the spoiler thread, can I say a massive late- book spoiler?! Fine if not.

TheHiphopopotamus · 02/06/2016 22:21

I think so Jane It's a spoiler thread so there should be no restrictions really. I haven't read the last few books and tbh, I probably won't but I personally don't mind if anyone wants to talk about them Smile

And I'm also intrigued now...Grin
