Ooh. Have we got close to the truth?
Spoiler fine with me Jane on this thread.

Lessstressedhemum · 02/06/2016 22:46

Comte may well be Fergus's father. It's a whole story line in book 8, so he could play the part.
Season 3 and 4, hope they concentrate on Jamie, who cares about Claire in Boston with the abominable Frank and whiny Brianna. And then lots of nice stuff in america with lots of shirtless stuff!

SenecaFalls · 02/06/2016 22:47

The search will be on for Lord John now.

His first appearance is in Book 2. And so far, after Jamie and Claire return to Scotland, the TV show is following the book fairly closely. Smile

Lessstressedhemum · 02/06/2016 23:33

Is the next episode the battle of Prestonpans? If so, we should be getting John fairly soon. Wonder who will play the adult him, though?

SenecaFalls · 02/06/2016 23:55

Lessstressed I'm not sure whether the episode "Je Suis Prest" is available in the UK yet. Starz released it two days early in the US so I watched it today. It's the Highlanders preparing for Prestonpans. Young Lord John makes his first appearance, but the actor is just 16 so they will be looking for an older actor for older Lord John.

snozzlemaid · 03/06/2016 07:06

Just seen on twitter that the last episode of this series will be 90 minutes.
Don't know how I'm gong to cope with watching that storyline Sad

WiIdfire · 03/06/2016 09:24

I think im in the minority here - I love Lord John! One of my favourite characters. But then, I discovered the series through a LJ side story so he was my first character. Love him.

Lessstressedhemum · 03/06/2016 09:46

Oh god, Prestonpans, the beginning of the end and not just for the series. I can never deal with stuff about the Rising. It breaks my heart. Being a staunch Presbyterian, all the divine right of kings stuff that led to so much heartbreak and destruction baffles me, but the downright cruelty of the aftermath was a crime against humanity.
I'm going to be a wreck, as if the whole Culloden thing isn't enough, Jamie and Claire saying goodbye is like to wipe me out.

AKAmyself · 03/06/2016 12:14

Jane i want the spoiler now! Is it to with Fergus and st germain?!?

lessstressed, darling, I can literally feel your pain through your post. I can see this has a much wider resonance for you and all I can say is that I promise to be there for you (for us all!) when we will all stumble in, bleary eyed and heartbroken, after what must happen will happen. The ending of culloden in DIA tore me apart and that was the first I'd ever really known about it!

Speaking of which and onto happier news: the Dh seems to have capitulated to my request for a long weekend in the highlands! I'm mad aren't I? If we were to go for 3 days where should we stay? Well likely bring the dds (8 and 10) so opportunities for reenacting key steamy scene will be somewhat limited. I'm just so in love with the scenery that I really want to be there if that makes sense. It'll likely be in September so torrential rain pretty much guaranteed, I should think :D

SenecaFalls · 03/06/2016 12:21

AKA Several scenes were filmed at the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore. That is definitely worth a visit. There's a very nice small inn close by. www.coignashee.co.uk/

AKAmyself · 03/06/2016 12:29

Thanks Seneca I will have a look! Btw, without giving anything away... How was episode 9?

SenecaFalls · 03/06/2016 12:52

Episode 9 was excellent!

Lessstressedhemum · 03/06/2016 13:47

There are a million and one fab places in the Highlands. You could of course go to Inverness or fort William, but there are lots of beautiful smaller places. I quite like Kingussie as a good base. It has always been !y dream to move to a wee croft in the Highlands, but everyone scoffs and goes on about the isolation and lack of shops!

I think Culloden is painful for most Scots and those of us with a wee interest in history find the 18th century difficult. So much pain involved and the end of a way of life.

Dollius01 · 03/06/2016 16:12

Where is Jane???
Am about to explode.......

TheHiphopopotamus · 03/06/2016 17:01

Doll Grin

I think the spoiler was that Fergus' dad may have been the Comte as lessstressed pointed out. Happy for Jane to correct me though, if she has some even more juicy spoilers.

I looked it up online (coz I'm a nosey bugger like that) and it said Fergus' mother was somebody Beauchamp? Is she supposed to be related to Claire in some way, can anyone enlighten me?

Justbeingnosey123 · 03/06/2016 17:26

Beauchaump is the name of the man that comes looking for Fergus, who Claire thinks may have been a relation. I don't think he is related to Fergus though. He has come to explain fergus's background and find him but Jamie and fergus don't trust him (partly due to Lord John) so there not sure the story is genuine.

TheHiphopopotamus · 03/06/2016 17:35

Ah, right thanks nosey I could have sworn last night I read on Outlander Wiki that his mother was Amélie or Emilie Beauchamp but now I can't find it. Wonder if I dreamt it Confused

Justbeingnosey123 · 03/06/2016 18:02

It might be the whole story line is a bit confusing to me Confused they way I remember it he comes to find Fergus with info on his mum and her family I think....

Justbeingnosey123 · 03/06/2016 19:01

Sorry hipho just found the passage in the books and your right his mothers name is Amelie Beauchamp. Blush

snozzlemaid · 03/06/2016 19:38

Glad to hear I'm not the only one seriously considering a trip to the Highlands. Don't think we'll get there this year but maybe next year. I'm sure dp will guess my reason for wanting to go. Grin

TheHiphopopotamus · 03/06/2016 19:40

No worries nosey Do you know if she's supposed to be a distant relation of Claire's then? Coz that's a hell of a coincidence if so. (Or could DG not think of any other French names? Grin)

AKAmyself · 03/06/2016 19:43

I think i've almost convinced him. I'm looking at flights to Aberdeen (cheaper to get to than Inverness) and then rent a b&b somewhere. Have seen some amazing properties on the landmark trust website but that'll have to wait for when i win the lottery!

Justbeingnosey123 · 03/06/2016 19:45

I don't think we know Claire debated asking Briannna to do some research but I can't remember if she did or not, or if she has and it will be revealed in the new book. It's definitely raised as a possibility..

Lessstressedhemum · 03/06/2016 20:43

Fergus's mother was apparently amelie beauchamp, one of the 3 beauchamp siblings of an aristocrat French family that john's step brother and ex lover married into. Percy is a spy with French connection who comes looking for Fergus to convince him that he is the son of Amelie and the Comte dear Saint Germain. But his motives are obscure and no one seems to trust him. Fergus seems fairly happy to ignore the whole thing because he is already Jamie's son and that is enough for himSmile

Claire toyed with the idea of asking Brianna to do some research in the letters to the future that she and Jamie write, but hasn't as yet done it. And now, obv., Brianna and Roger are back, so that bridge is burned.

Justbeingnosey123 · 03/06/2016 21:02

I thought Jamie had written all about Percy in a letter though? So it possible Brian's and Rodger may come back with something to add on the situation?? I agree it's not looking likely though..
