Just finished them all AGAIN, and now I am sadSad
Series 3 should be all over the place, really. The action is in the Highlands, Edinburgh, the Lake District, the Atlantic, the Indies and, finally, in America. Surely, they can't film all that here?
I can hardly wait, older Jamie is even hotter than young Jamie!Blush

Drywhitethanks · 22/08/2016 19:50

Less that's impressive. How long did that take you? They're so long.
I've read that Mr Willougby is going to be in S3 Hmm ....really want to known his going to play Young Ian, Fergus, Lord J................keeping an eye on Twitter.

S Carolina countryside is a lot like Scotland according to DG perhaps they'll film that part in Scotland?

Anyone else getting excited about next Sunday? Can't wait.

Drywhitethanks · 22/08/2016 20:09

Sunday week that is Sad

snozzlemaid · 23/08/2016 08:00

I'm actually on book 6 not 7.
Couldn't put it down last night. It's so good. Just read the part where Claire gets kidnapped. Had to keep reading until Jamie appeared to rescue her. I had every faith he would of course, just like Claire did.

gamerwidow · 23/08/2016 09:41

It's a shame the kidnapping results in yet another rape though DG really over uses this as a plot device. At last count 5 of the main characters has been raped. That doesn't even include Jenny's attempted rape by BJR or Mary's rape in season 2.

Lessstressedhemum · 23/08/2016 09:50

Started them again at the beginning of July, dry. To be fair, I had a really nasty infection and was in bed for a couple of weeks with nothing to do but watch Sam and read Jamie, oh the pity of it!

I don't think the could film the Indies bit here, but perhaps everything else?

Jamie was always going to rescue her, how could he not. It was a bit brutal, aye, his fierce, protective husband side in full flow. I think Clare was always going g to get raped, BJR tried it a couple of times but failed. Then there was the thing on the moor with the two English soldiers, where Claire knifed one in the kidneys. DG seems to have a bit of over reliance on rape as a plot device. It's a wee bit disturbing, although the C18th was a much more violent time and women were in a very different position in society, so perhaps rape was a lot more common.

Drywhitethanks · 23/08/2016 16:17

Snozzle I think I'm on 5 fiery cross so look forward to book 6 then.
Less that's good going, no wonder you're an expert.
DG is obsessed with a lot of things ....but I'm enjoying hearing the characters thoughts in the books which you don't get so much in the show.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but so far I don't think Brianna's too bad, or book Claire and haven't seen any NC sex apart from all the rapes between main characters. Also I don't think Jamie's that nasty to Roger, perhaps that's later on?

I'm surprised that Jamie has just asked Claire to give him her gold wedding ring to use as stakes in a game of whist echoes of Poldark seems out of character Hmm

Hope RR can sing Smile

gamerwidow · 23/08/2016 16:30

I like Brianna and book Claire too. I was surprised that he would ask for the ring when he knew how much it meant to her. I think it's uncharacteristically spiteful because his cross about her carrying on with the dandy ( whose name forget) and feels his honour is offended. To be fair though he makes it up to her later.

Drywhitethanks · 23/08/2016 16:54

Has anyone else noticed that the lovely SH has been 36 for rather a long time? Hmm

Lessstressedhemum · 23/08/2016 18:34

Don't know, but I felt the ring thing was more that he had his dander up and the ring was the only valuable thing that either of them owned. He is very confident in his card playing abilities and is never shown to lose in any of the books. He is also very sensitive about his lack of money, property etc. So the ring thing is essentially pride. He does take the silver one when Claire gets stroppy. If it was me, I'd be desperate to get rid of foul Frank's ring.

Brianna just annoys me. She is so self absorbed. The only actual job consent sex, really, is the Geneva stuff, but that never actually bothered me because of the circumstances surrounding the whole scenario.

Drywhitethanks · 23/08/2016 19:51

Do you know what "smeòraich" means Less....you speak G don't you? J call R this a lot, I assume "son" or something?

Lessstressedhemum · 23/08/2016 22:47

It means thrush. They call him that because of his singing.
I don't speak Gaelic anymore, sadly, but I remember bits and pieces here and there.

Drywhitethanks · 24/08/2016 15:02

You should go on Mastermind with Outlandder as your specialist subject Less!!!!!
So, I'm REALLY hoping Roger gets to kill Bonnet, would be much better than J doing it.....don't tell me Smile
Snozzle I'm rubbish at Twitter, all I'm getting from SH is mountain climbing stuff Hmm

snozzlemaid · 24/08/2016 16:54

Dry He does retweet alot of people doing his charity thing - my peak challenge. But every now and then you get a little gem from him.

Drywhitethanks · 24/08/2016 19:32

Il keep watching stalking then

snozzlemaid · 26/08/2016 20:56

More here www.outlandertvnews.com/2016/08/outlander-behind-the-scenes-photos-of-sam-heughan-shooting-season-three surprised they are doing the culloden scenes considering Jamie doesn't remember most of the battle until the later books. Though I suppose they could just be filming the the immediate aftermath and Jamie's capture and escape from execution?

gamerwidow · 26/08/2016 23:15

It's worth giving the I love outlander page on Facebook a like. Loads of news and outlander related stuff there Smile

Lessstressedhemum · 27/08/2016 08:49

Looking good! I imagine that they will have to fill in some blanks to explain how Jamie ended up not dead in a ditch with jack Randall.

gamerwidow · 27/08/2016 09:03

Also thinking about it it would make sense to film the final BJR and Jamie showdown with murtagh saving Jamie at the cost of his life now rather than in 4 seasons time when its revealed in the book. Probably a bit unreasonable to expect the actors playing important flashback later to be available then Smile

gamerwidow · 27/08/2016 09:15

Just realised I've been unnecessarily spoilery for other readers in my haste to post. I forgot about those behind on the books. Will be less twatish in future.

snozzlemaid · 27/08/2016 11:25

You're fine gamer this thread is for spoilers. It's in the title, so spoil away.

Drywhitethanks · 27/08/2016 16:28

I don't mind spoilers.
Snozzle thanks for the pics. I guess they probably film all Colloden scenes together to use throughout the season.
I've finished Fiery Cross, v happy about the reappearance of someone we like, but waiting to hear what happened.
Am starting 6........will continue to be anti social bore. They are addictive.

Wondering :
Where DG gets all her 18C medical stuff from?
How Rik will cope with the Roger effect....man in kilt holding baby a lot will launch him into even bigger heart throb territory.
How they film the show.....ie I'm sure they hadn't finished filming the last season when we started watching. So do they film it in episode order which can't be possible or in location/actor availability?
Whether Lizzie will marry Young Ian hope so
What happened to Bitter Cascara? Grin

snozzlemaid · 27/08/2016 18:44

Listening to the podcasts for season one, they filmed those in blocks of two. Not neccessarily in the right order.
I'm still awaiting the Lizzie and Ian outcome, so can't answer that one I'm afraid.
I've thought about how RR is finding the new fans he has. There's lots on twitter about him now. Seems like they're all watching him in The Syndicate and Crimson Field at the moment. I wonder if he was prepared for it. Think he only had a small following before as I tweeted him about something I'd watched him in quite a while ago and he replied. Bet he gets too many now to respond to.

Drywhitethanks · 27/08/2016 19:52

Have you finished no 6 Snozzle?
