She does appear in V though doesn't she? really shouldn't have skimmed so much, must go back and do it properly, getting confused

pixieg1rl · 15/06/2016 21:42

Yes, in Voyager. I think the last episode is going to bridge the gap between DIA and V

AKAmyself · 15/06/2016 22:00

sorry, i haven't been able to progress past the mention of Claire's sanitary towel in, I understand, a Fiery Cross?

Because the mind is boggling. I'm reading Drums of Autumn (well, trying to. I'm not loving it) and she's at least 50 there. Does this woman never age?!?

i must say i'm bit deflated about the whole thing. I might have to re-watch season one to remind myself what l love this so much - the later books (after they leave scotland) and season two are not setting my heart on fire. And i can't accept that Claire and Jamie will ever age...

Lessstressedhemum · 15/06/2016 22:42

In The Fiery Cross, she is goi g through the menopause, if I remember correctly. The bit with the sanitary towel is her first period for several months and she has the odd hot flush. There is quite a bit of focus on her fertility.

Geilis is In Voyager and a very unpleasant woman she is. The spooky bit with her skull in the hospital made me snigger!

Sunnymeg · 16/06/2016 11:40

Sophie Skelton is tweeting to say Brianna is on her way. I wonder if she is going to be seen on screen earlier than we expect (the final episode) and the actress who plays Gellis was spotted filming for Series 2

pixieg1rl · 16/06/2016 11:55

Yes, Brianna and Roger (as adults) are going to be on the final episode. I'll be well chuffed if my Gellis prediction bears fruit. I'm normally shite at this sort of thing.

Lessstressedhemum · 16/06/2016 12:45

Why do we care about Brianna? Another whiny, pseudo-strong female character. Inventing matches and doing experiments out of time, she's as annoying as Claire .

AKAmyself · 16/06/2016 12:48

I had totally missed the skeleton being Geillis! I must have skimmed a fair bit more of voyager than I had assumed . Oops.

Have been meaning to rewatch the latest episode.... Mostly because I haven't been able to stop thinking about... DOUGAL! Im seriously lusting after him, and just remembered the "I've shat my pants line". If there was a proper outlander fandom (have recently discovered that DG hates fanfiction! Which explains why there's hardly any), there would be some serious Dougal porn being written right now!

AKAmyself · 16/06/2016 12:49

I also don't care a jot abou Brianna. And don't think I can fancy a character called Roger on principle (apologies to all those who have married a Roger!)

TheHiphopopotamus · 16/06/2016 12:52

Brianna is worse than Claire. I knew I was going to hate her from the moment she appeared on the page and I haven't been proved wrong yet.

I'm confident that the showrunners will make her more likeable. They've done a great job with Claire's character. I like Roger though as I've said many times before, probably because I have a sneaking suspicion that DG hates Roger. She's always pitting him against Jamie (in one form or another) and finding him wanting.

TheHiphopopotamus · 16/06/2016 12:57

And don't think I can fancy a character called Roger on principle (apologies to all those who have married a Roger!)

I had the same reservations about the name Brian that was bandied about so luckily, Brianna was a girl. You can tell DG is an American as no one in this country would seriously have considered the name Brian for one of their main character/heroes.

(Apologies to any Brians or wives/daughters/sons/mothers/fathers of Brians)

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 16/06/2016 14:02

I'm waiting for Young Ian, I do like him.

TheHiphopopotamus · 16/06/2016 14:35

I like Young Ian too. Him and Roger are my favourites by the time of TFC.

Aka give Roger a chance. Rik Rankin is verra easy on the eye, I'm sure you'll warm to him next series.

snozzlemaid · 16/06/2016 15:32

I'm only on book 4, DOA, but I was going to say I like Roger. However, I think that's only because i know he's going to be played by Rik Rankin, so I've always pictured him in my head. Couldn't help but like him with that face.

Lessstressedhemum · 16/06/2016 17:16

Aye, poor Roger, he never quite measures up, and he has some even more horrible happen to him. The best thing about him was his singing, I wonder if he will find a spooky blue light healer to give him it back?

TheHiphopopotamus · 16/06/2016 17:28

and he has some even more horrible happen to him

Shock Oh no! Poor old Rog. DG hates him, I know she does.

Lessstressedhemum · 16/06/2016 18:42

His life is horrendous! I think she hates all her they are never allowed any happiness. Bot poor Wee Roger, smeorach no more. It would be a big spoiler to say any more than that.

snozzlemaid · 16/06/2016 20:38

Just been thinking how I really hope they don't kill off Murtagh. I'd love him to be in next series somehow. Not quite sure where though. Maybe at Lallybroch whilst Jamie is in the cave. Then he could join them on their travels.

AKAmyself · 16/06/2016 21:42

Snozzle I agree! But kill him they will, I'm pretty sure :(

Ps random thought of the day - was Collum Billy Elliott's dad? I'm too lazy to google it

AKAmyself · 16/06/2016 21:43

Ps I love Jamie in the cave. In fact I love the first half of voyager (the Jamie bit). Love Aardsmuir too. Even love the Geneva bit. Just give us 6 episodes of Jamie in season 3, okay?

pixieg1rl · 16/06/2016 21:48

Yes, he was AKA (Billy Elliot's dad)

snozzlemaid · 18/06/2016 09:19

Sad news. I read a tweet this morning that said 'I think the Outlander programme makers have forgotten how babies are made'. Sad
Some of the US have seen episode 11 so I'm trying not to read too much, but that caught my eye.

snozzlemaid · 18/06/2016 09:25

Also saw this from DG about the script writing process...

Brianna is born in November 1948. Thus she was conceived early in 1746. Claire obviously had the longest pregnancy in history Grin Prestonpans was September 1745, so still time to have plenty of sex in the last couple of episodes
