I don't even want to think about this series ending Confused How long do you think til S3? It won't be 2017 will it, more likely 2018.

pixieg1rl · 06/06/2016 20:09

I've read 2 (highly speculative) articles today that suggest that they are going to include bits of Voyager and Drums of Autumn in S2. One said about Briana following Claire through the stones, the other that they're aging Claire and Jamie for the last episode.

I kind of hope they don't do the Bree bit, maybe just a tantalising glimpse of Jamie still alive in the 1760s and Claire in the 1960s.

MistressFraser · 06/06/2016 20:10

The producer and writer Matt Roberts is saying it will be shorter than fans think, so I think the news is good, HipHop

Sorry, that the break will be shorter than fans think.

I'm getting a bit deflated tbh - the series is good, but season two is not as great as season one, and a lot more formulaic. Hate to sound like one of those book-obsessed groupies but i'm upset that they're not investing more screen time into Claire and Jamie's relationship and agree the flashbacks were interesting but not entirely necessary.... tell you what if they don't devote a whole episode to their final night at culloden i will throw all my toys out of the pram!

And the books... I'm on Drums of Autumn and so far so meh. don't think i buy into this relationship anymore. and I can't get excited about Roger...

AKAmyself · 06/06/2016 20:15

IF THEY AGE CLAIRE AND JAMIE IN THE SEASON FINALE THAT'S IT. I'm quitting

TheHiphopopotamus · 06/06/2016 20:22

Yay mistress thanks for that! I'm having withdrawal symptoms and it's not even finished yet.

Hmm that's interesting pixie I'll reserve judgement on that. Can't really fault anything they've done so far in deviating from the books but they spent far too much time on the France stuff and now they're trying to shoehorn everything into the final few episodes.

Agree with aka that there hasn't been enough time spent on J&C this season, but I think we're not the only set of fans that think that according to Twitter, so hopefully it'll be rectified in S3.

snozzlemaid · 06/06/2016 20:24

I get what you mean about being deflated with it. I just think that season 1 was so completely perfect they'll never match it again.
It's a shame that the other storylines are overtaking their relationship in this season. I know they are needed but the most important thing for me was the relationship and I miss it.

TheHiphopopotamus · 06/06/2016 20:26

Going back to S1, I think there was a huge amount of filler in that season (for example the episode that didn't have Jamie in it, where Claire went about the country as a drag act or something) whereas this season they've got too much to fit in.

pixieg1rl · 06/06/2016 20:32

They've said that 16 episodes is too much for the crew; and for book 1 it was probably too much, but I think 13 episodes is hurting the story from DIA, and it will definitely impact on Voyager and Drums adaptation. 14 or 15 would give them a wee bit more time to explore the relationship.

TheHiphopopotamus · 06/06/2016 20:39

They could've done what GoT did and instead of having a book per season, just let it find its natural pace. They're going to have some real problems fitting Voyager and DOA into a season each. I hope they cut the right stuff out when they do.

Please don't sulk aka

Excited about Roger (as always), but I'm sure Claire refused to go to Culloden in the books.

TheHiphopopotamus · 06/06/2016 21:40

I can't wait for Roger! I take exception with that article though.

'Brianna is a popular character in the book' WITH WHO?! Hmm Haven't come across anyone who likes her yet! (Unless they mean she's popular with other characters in the book).

pixieg1rl · 06/06/2016 21:56

Yes, I thought the same Hiphop

Drywhitethanks · 06/06/2016 22:47

Aka totally agree, season 2 is good but not as good as 1. Feel deflated too, but not sure whether it's because I'm not binge watching, the lack of intimacy between J and C, not enough Scotland, too much to fit in now Hmm

If they cut out the farewell sex against the wall I'll joing in throwing dummy out of pram.

TheHiphopopotamus · 06/06/2016 23:01

but not sure whether it's because I'm not binge watching

I've missed binge watching it too but I've enjoyed our weekly discussions as I said on the other thread. What I've really, really missed is all those fab sex scenes from S1. They'd better have something amazing up their sleeves (or kilts, I'm not fussy) before the end of the series or else!

AKAmyself · 07/06/2016 07:20

I'm with you Drywhite, the farewell sex against the wall is one of my top moments from the whole thing, it'll be a travesty if they cut it.

And yet I don't see how it would fit with the characters they've now built... Book Jamie is rough and impulsive and asks (and gets because duh) for sex whenever and wherever - their sex in the books is often rough and hurried and even quite public, not so in the show where it all has to be just so and a bed is a must. There's no way to show that final night at culloden in any way but dirty and desperate and I just don't see it happen. They have done this before - in season one, the reckoning if i recall - the hot sex with the knife! So I know they can do it again. But don't know how it will fit into this seasons writing.

Also - we have to have them having sex at prestonpans as I think thats when Brianna is conceived (in the book Claire says... "I fell asleep with Jamie's warm seed in my womb" or something t equally cringey and ovaries destroying).

I'm getting a little obsessed aren't I?

AKAmyself · 07/06/2016 07:21

Sorry, messy ungrammatical post! Am meant to be on a conference call :D

Drywhitethanks · 07/06/2016 19:35

Perhaps they are holding the sex until it really is important to the development of the story as both actors have said and will do the wall and conception of B after all as both are important events really.

Anyone seeing the T shirts on FBook....just saw one that says "my other husband is a red haired, fiery highlander" or something which I thought was inspired....US site though Sad or I'd buy one

TheHiphopopotamus · 07/06/2016 19:55

I got a t shirt off etsy last year. It said 'take me to Lallybroch'. I wear it as a pyjama top Blush I also have an Outlander calendar, but there's not enough Jamie pics on it for my liking. I think May was a pic of BJR! Next month is Collum and Dougal Grin

I'm not obsessed at all. Although DH has made me paint over my Castle Leoch mural in the bedroom Wink

Just watched GoT from last night.....BJR was in it Shock Grin...... and he still didn't bloody die!

Cerseirys · 08/06/2016 06:34

And Lord Lovat too, as the Blackfish.

Drywhitethanks · 08/06/2016 07:21

Oh I knew he looked familiar Grin
