Firstly Jill has really not dealt with the whole Josh situation and I don't blame her given the 'counselling' she received

Secondly -what happened to Derrick's face?

John David seems fed up, tired and older than his years to me. The last few times he’s been on the show he seems sexually frustrated miserable.

sukitea · 12/10/2017 07:11

Jana was kept at home because she was/is the general dogs body. She does all of the cooking, cleaning and looking after the little ones. When JB and Michelle went off on a trip she stayed at home to hold fort. She is also sent off when Josh/Jill/Jessa need help with their children.

No idea about JD though!

sukitea · 12/10/2017 07:12

Oh I forgot Jana also does all of the sewing for the weddings. The episode where they went on "holiday" to Florida for Josh and Anna's wedding Jana didn't go on any of the days out as she had to stay in and do all of the bridesmaid dresses.

Groovee · 12/10/2017 07:15

I wonder if Jana is holding off to limit her childbearing Years. To be honest, she’s raised her siblings!

But she’s very pretty and very sweet.

sukitea · 12/10/2017 09:15

Jana is one of the prettiest sisters. It was said that men did approach JB to court Jana but he didn't feel any of them were 'right'.

cushioncovers · 12/10/2017 13:16

Yes she is lovely looking. I also get the impression she is waiting for the right guy. She may even have a friend but just not want to be on the show.

FlyFlyAway · 13/10/2017 13:26

Wow, I'm seeing Jeremy in a whole new light now! Thought Jinger was doing great but now feeling sorry for her. Jeremy has never once cooked a meal for her. And that coffee in the car thing, does he think he's Moses and can hold back water?!

They are getting more and more layers in the courtship saga. Friends, special friends, courting, engagement.....
I guess with none of them going to school or work they just spend al their time with each other.

Do any of the fundies think going to college or doing something academic is acceptable? None of them want to be teachers/doctors/lawyers/opticians etc (didn't include science well because that's just the devils work). They are all pastors/ministers/preachers/or tow truck/tree surgeon/car lot/rental housing etc. You can't need that many pastors?

Saw how Joys future FIL kisses her on the head and gives her after her engagement but her future husband cannot because if he did that then he's need to have sex with her there and then in frontbencher of his father? I really think they are brining up generations of men who think sexual assault is normal and not their fault they were "defrauded".

Also they can shake hands to meet someone but then when you court you're not allowed too.

At least they've relaxed the rules, I remember Jessa and Ben having Michelle sitting between them in the truck because she was allowed to touch thighs but Jess's was not until married??

cushioncovers · 13/10/2017 16:06

Jeremy with that coffee was an eye opener for me. His face gave it away when it was too hot. He had to hold back a hissy fit and then made jinger take the lid off knowing full well it would spill.

To be a top sportsman you need to be single minded stubborn and determined imo so I think he’s definitely going wear the trousers in that house.

What does he do as a job for money?

cushioncovers · 13/10/2017 17:23

Just saw an advert for a program called ‘Meet the Putmans’ has anyone seen it. About a large family that all choose to live together apparently. Mum and dad, four adult kids and their spouses and 15 grandchildren all in one big house.

Groovee · 13/10/2017 17:37

@cushioncovers I might be wrong but I thought he was pastor.

cushioncovers · 13/10/2017 17:44

I’m not sure but I thought it looks interesting

sukitea · 13/10/2017 17:49

Fly it it fairly common for fundies not to go to college (think of all the sin!) and there is apparently a Bible verse that says that the only boss a woman can have is her husband, hence the women that do work work for their husbands (Michelle worked for JB for many years)
The Bates are Fundy but more relaxed about college, probably because both parents went. Oldest daughter teaches music and a couple of the girls went to a christian college/university. They are also allowed to set their own courtship rules.
Loads of the men become 'pastors' as the church sponsors their living so they don't have to get a real job. All of the Duggar boys work for JB. Jeremy's job is converting the evil catholics in Laredo.

The Duggars and their sect are highly sexualized therefore see sexual temptation in the most mundane situations. Did anyone see the episode when Jessa and Ben were courting and they went on a double date with Michelle and JB? JB started dry humping Michelle on the golf course and saying "you can't do this yet, ha ha!" Hmm

flapjackfairy · 13/10/2017 22:20

I have read my bible cover to cover more than once and there is no bible verse that says a woman can only work for a boss who is also her husband !

sukitea · 14/10/2017 06:48

flapjack the Duggars claim many of their rules are scriptural and many Christians are Hmm at them. They also used to have this strange rule that once a girl was over 12 she couldn't come out of the bedroom unless her full hair/makeup was done, otherwise it would be a dishonour to the males in the house. They claim that is Biblical too.

cushioncovers · 17/10/2017 18:36

Just watching this weeks episode. Spurgeon seems hard work. And Joy seems a bit stroppy IMO

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/10/2017 18:40

God,she was bloody annoying. It was like shopping with my disinterested teen for smart clothes for a wedding Hmm

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/10/2017 18:42

Did you notice that when the little one climbed onto Michelle's lap all she seemed concerned about was pulling her dress down so it didn't ride up? She had leggings on ffs!!

Textpectation · 17/10/2017 18:59

Ben disciplining Spurge was a bit strange. I didn't like the term he used for tantrum, expecting a one year old to say 'yes sir' was odd.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/10/2017 19:00

Very American.

Textpectation · 17/10/2017 19:02

Very strict. Do one year olds really understand that approach?

Also when you give a toddler a bubble wand, putting the soapy end straight in their mouth is standard.

Littlewhistle · 17/10/2017 21:53

Joy - what a misnomer! I've never seen anyone look so disinterested and bored whilst choosing a wedding dress. And did they really need to take that massive entourage all the way from Arkansas to Kentucky via Texas? I'm sure there must be wedding dress shops a lot closer to home, although probably only Miss Renee can make dresses up to the Duggars' exacting standards of modesty Hmm

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 17/10/2017 22:07

If ever anyone should just get married in a T shirt and jeans it's her!! And all those tearsHmm

emochild · 24/10/2017 00:06

Omg the sugar girls have knees!

cushioncovers · 24/10/2017 16:17

Shoe game looked like it had really tame questions fun.

Textpectation · 24/10/2017 21:55

Joy seems to really be infatuated with Austin. Male Duggar's gf not so much.
