Firstly Jill has really not dealt with the whole Josh situation and I don't blame her given the 'counselling' she received

Secondly -what happened to Derrick's face?

I don't think they will/can parent in the same punitive way as their parents due to their TV lifestyle. The crew spend a lot of time with them and I can't imagine that all of them (I think there is at least 1 who is fundie) would be comfortable seeing a young baby "corrected" (smacked). I have read the books that the Duggars used out of curiosity and it is like going back to the 1600's. The younger Duggars who were born post TLC are much more unruly than the older ones.

I doubt they will do the buddy system either as each couple still seems to have their buddies who help out. Jana used to go off to Josh and Anna's frequently when they lived in DC to help with their children. Jennifer often hangs around at Jill's.

Littlewhistle · 10/10/2017 14:35

I really like Jeremy and Jinger and the fact that they're appearing to break the Duggar mould by not having a baby immediately and moving away. I hope they stick to what THEY want to do and don't bow to pressure from JB and M.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/10/2017 15:53

Urghhh the hand holding is so weird and infantile.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 10/10/2017 16:29

And there was a bit more than a side hug there!! Must've forgotten they're not meant to. It's all so weird and unnatural.

sukitea · 10/10/2017 19:46

Little Jeremy seems more modern in terms of appearance but I don't think he is any less controlling than JB. Jeremy is very into himself, his "sermons" come across as very narcissistic and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have kids for years. He seems to be desperate for a dominion. I reckon JB totally regrets that decision; within days of their engagement he was putting up memes on social media mocking fundamental Duggar beliefs, such as skirts=modesty. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when JB summoned the family for a meeting to explain Hunger wearing ungodly trousers!

FlyFlyAway · 10/10/2017 21:13

I don't get if they really have brought their children up to be really religious, they are basically saying that they don't trust their children not to have sex before marriage and they can't contain themselves if holding hands or kissing in public. Do they really think seeing their children kiss in public will mean they strip off on the floor in front of others?

otherdoor · 10/10/2017 21:44

Oooh my people! I don't know anyone in real life who cares about this bizarre family but I'm strangely fascinated by the whole thing.

I wonder how Jill feels about her second c section? Presumably if she keeps needing c sections she'll 'only' be able to have four or five kids maximum, which must be strange for her. I think she wanted to follow in Michelle's footsteps...

Littlewhistle · 10/10/2017 22:20

sukitea I came to Counting On relatively recently when Jinger and Jeremy were already married so I don't know that stuff. I must admit he seems to like Jinger's adulation of him when doing gym stuff etc,

All this side hug stuff just cracks me up, and when they decide on courtship rules........ and then the second they're married they're at it like rabbits and pregnant immediately.

Each to their own I guess. I switch channels immediately when my OH comes into the room so he can't see the kind of tripe I watch Blush

charlyn · 10/10/2017 23:30

It made me cringe hearing Joe and Kendra talk about their 'courtship rules'. It just feels so unatural and awkward, just hug when you want to for gods sake!

Hmmalittlefishy · 11/10/2017 02:00

It made me feel quite sad when kendra, who seems at first quite bubbly, had had to run the scenario if her rollerblading and needing to hold hands past her parents and that holding onto him was deemed OK as long as there was no wrapping hands or arms! Is there no trust at all? It was rollerblading in a public place not drinking cheap cider in a park at night!

sukitea · 11/10/2017 07:22

The Duggars and Co make the mundane highly sexualized, hence there is much discussion on types of hugs, types of hand hold, clothes that ''defraud' men (yes they use that word Hmm) and they put the onus on the females not to incite impure thoughts within the men. The Duggars also seem to feel the need to be seen as more godly therefore have to dissect every action and make it all about modesty.

Hmmalittlefishy · 11/10/2017 07:52

It just struck me more than most of the things I've seen them over t he years (apart from joshs abuse) as just so restricted on someone young and fun. Similar to jinger and a few of the girls that their personality is so squashed.
I know their clothes are modest and they have lots of jobs to do and then are waiting to get married. But the fact that a young girl was scared to reach out to hold onto someone she is due to marry or 'dating' in the event of falling over made me sad. I wonder if they would have preferred her risk a broken arm than an illicit hand hold

Hmmalittlefishy · 11/10/2017 07:53

By jobs I mean chores in the house not paid employment

cushioncovers · 11/10/2017 09:14

I think Jeremy’s biggest fan is Jeremy himself.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/10/2017 09:17

I do tooGrin

There's no way I'd kiss dh either if he'd insisted on driving with a lid less coffee eitherShock

sukitea · 11/10/2017 09:50

I think Jeremy’s biggest fan is Jeremy himself.

This. People are going on about how it is great for Jinger to have more freedom to express herself with Jeremy etc but I don't see it that way at all. He seems keen for her to be a trophy wife on his arm and in a few of the pictures she has a very fake smile on her face, I get the impression he is asking her to wear specific things. He has a 'past' and Jinger obviously knows this which might make her feel that she has to do specific things to please him.

The Duggars have really relaxed their rules in the last few years, the boys/men were never allowed to wear shorts before and they do now. It is sad that the girls (and boys too) were never allowed to go and get recognized qualifications. They used to bang on in the books about Jill being a midwife, but she trained with someone who wasn't even licensed and never set foot in a college class. At most she could be called a doula.

The setup is really bizarre; when Josh was sent to 'rehab' Anna moved into the girls' dorm with her kids. That must have been fun Hmm I really feel for poor Jana, imagine being 28 and still being a housewife/mum to your siblings. She did say in an interview once that she struggled to have love at times for them and had to pray a lot that God would settle her heart Sad

CakesRUs · 11/10/2017 10:12

Do we get this in the UK since "you know what" I've not spotted it?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/10/2017 10:13

It's on TLC

cushioncovers · 11/10/2017 11:08

It’s now just called ‘counting on’

I miss JB&M at least they went on interesting road trips and conferences which gave you an insight to their life style and beliefs. Watching the kids getting married is ok but there’s only so much of it I can watch. It’s boring tbh.

sukitea · 11/10/2017 11:39

Well cushion their lives are basically a merry-go-round of courting-marriage-pregnancy-baby so that is all there is to show! TLC dropped the family after Josh's scandal and they agreed to do Counting On to keep the gravy train going. I'm sure JB is still getting his cut though. There is some speculation that Josh will be brought back into the show soon.

cushioncovers · 11/10/2017 12:06

Oh yes I’m sure the money made from counting on is shared out.

When I watch the girls talk about being busy organising a wedding I think try doing it whilst working full time as well like most women their age. Most couples would renovate a house and plan a wedding whilst both holding down jobs.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/10/2017 12:16

Joy looked delighted she would be the only one to live in a house that wasn't owned by the Diggers. Don't blame her tbh.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 11/10/2017 12:18

I've just googled that she's pregnant already.

cushioncovers · 11/10/2017 14:35

Yes joy seem really pleased that the house was Austin’s and hers not a hand me down Duggar house.

MadisonMontgomery · 11/10/2017 18:27

I don’t like Jinger & Jeremy - I just find him smug and Jinger is just fawning all over him. I don’t believe she necessarily has more freedom either - just a different set of rules. Jessa & Ben are both dim, not a huge Jill fan but she and Derick seem the best suited.

I do wonder why both Jana and John-David are still single - 27 is really quite old in fundie-land and I would have thought they would be considered good prospects, plus Jana is really pretty and they both seem sweet.
