Another one joining the Jamie Must Have a Fringe group. It's weird how unattractive I found him watching last night - even when shirtless. Shock

Agreed about the fake sounding Scottish accents. As a Scot it was nice to notice how accurate the different Scottish accents were but it works the other way too. The cook from S1 for example .

hudyerwheesht · 12/04/2016 12:21

Btw, how come Claire can speak fluent French?

SenecaFalls · 12/04/2016 12:21

Robert Cavanah is a real Scot. He's lived most of his adult life in England, but he grew up in Edinburgh.

TheHiphopopotamus · 12/04/2016 12:27

I assumed Clare could speak French because she was there during WW2. I may be wrong though. I'm sure the books said Jamie's French was a lot better than hers as well.

hudyerwheesht · 12/04/2016 12:37

I know Senecafalls that's why I was so surprised that his accent sounded fake. I actually rewound to check it was his name I'd seen.

I've now remembered that Claire said she had relatives in France. Blush

OohMavis · 12/04/2016 12:39

I couldn't watch the episodes with Mrs Fitzgibbons in without seeing the Slitheen from Doctor Who. I was expecting her to shed her skin suit any moment.

OohMavis · 12/04/2016 12:42

Yeah Claire was an army nurse stationed in France during WW2.

I am so glad to have found this thread! I loved the first season so much I promptly bought the books one after each other and devoured them! It did confuse me how nice Frank was in the episode but I suppose they need to have him as a contrast to black jack randall for the time being. I think the infertility was also important as it explains why he was so keen to accept Claire and the baby as a package. Looking forward to the next episode now!

hudyerwheesht · 12/04/2016 13:07

Indeed, Privatepike

If they ruin Robert Rankin by making him talk in a similarly annoying accent I will never forgive them.

hudyerwheesht · 12/04/2016 13:11

ValiaH are you able to shed any light on the timeline for me those of us who are confused about it?

This pregnancy in 1948 - is it the same one she had when they left for France in the 18th century?

TheHiphopopotamus · 12/04/2016 13:15

hud it's a bit of a spoiler that question.

Can't really say answer it without giving the plot away, I don't think. Are we doing spoilers on here? I can pm anyone who wants to know though.

hudyerwheesht · 12/04/2016 13:25

No don't say it then thehipho - my fault, curiosity getting the better of me.

Drywhitethanks · 12/04/2016 13:34

New York Tartan Parade: Sam was the Grand Marshal.

Drywhitethanks · 12/04/2016 15:15

That's his real hair.
Are they filming season 3 now ?

hudyerwheesht · 12/04/2016 15:32

It is but he dyes it red, he's actually a sort of ash blonde in rl.

I don't think they're filming S3 yet, filming for s2 only finished shortly before it actually aired.

LBOCS2 · 12/04/2016 15:37

hud it's a bit of a spoiler that question

I have this problem at home all the time - I've read the books but DH hasn't, so he had LOTS of questions about the episode and my answer to the majority of them was "are you SURE you want to know?!" As he gets a bit cross about spoilers.

SenecaFalls · 12/04/2016 15:38

I don't think they've had word yet whether it's been renewed for S3.

Twinklestein · 12/04/2016 16:16

It's not specifically that he's got a big forehead - my sister has too but she looks equally beautiful with her hair down or scraped back. (Jennifer Lopez is the same).

It's that his forehead is an odd shape and it completely changes the shape of his face when it's uncovered.

hudyerwheesht · 12/04/2016 16:33

Agreed. Plus, you don't get that sexy thing when he looks through his fringe.

Although in some of the promo shots I've seen he looks very nice with a ponytail.

Very unkempt or very smart seems to be ok, it's when it's halfway between that he doesn't look good.
