The jamie part at the Beginning of voyager is breaking my heart. So sad and wonderful, it's making me love him so so much. I know there was a good reason for Claire to go back before culloden (though tbh I can't remember it rn) but I keep thinking oh what if what if what if. All the loneliness and hardship he endures, I know there are things he does that shock people but I was so grateful for whatever crumb of human contact he could get during those years of wilderness...

MistressFraser · 24/05/2016 08:53

It was only knowing what was ahead for Jamie that got me through the first part of Voyager. And I haven't read DIA properly but only skimmed it because everything was building up to Culloden and hideousness and I just couldn't bear it.

AKAmyself · 24/05/2016 08:56

You should read the culloden part mistressfraser. It's so heartbreaking and so wonderfully done

AKAmyself · 24/05/2016 10:16

Meant to add that the last part of DIA is also totally bullshit-free. I really hope that they do it well in the show - mud, blood and tears...

Verbena37 · 24/05/2016 10:20

Thinking there should perhaps be a book thread because having seen this post said Outlander Season 2 implies it's about the show, not the book. I realise the two are obviously interlinked but it's a shame for those who aren't reading the books to then get spoilers from the book stuff when only watching episode 7 of season 2.

hudyerwheesht · 24/05/2016 10:50

I have to say I'm kind of in agreement with verbena there, its getting increasingly hard to read this thread without finding out (more) about J & C's future as everyone's getting into the books and naturally discussing/comparing. That's why I asked upthread if anyone hadn't read most/all of the books because I was thinking I may have to stay off the thread; I made a decision not to read the books until I had watched the series but I now know way more about their futures than I wanted to, even without specific spoilers.

I actually just listed, as examples, the main things I've learned from the thread then deleted it as I realised someone may come on to discuss the tv series only and I've outlined the plot for the next couple of series - but that just illustrates my point!

OohMavis · 24/05/2016 11:42

I always try to be very careful when discussing it, making a point not to mention spoilers, so I'd be up for a separate spoilers/tv thread where I can let loose Smile

MistressFraser · 24/05/2016 12:05

Point taken: so we need a thread under Adult Fiction, marked spoilers, and one that's spoiler-free under Telly Addicts?

MistressFraser · 24/05/2016 12:05

Or two Telly Addicts threads, one allowing spoilers and book discussion, and the other not?

MistressFraser · 24/05/2016 12:06

And would there be picture of kilts and knees on both? Smile

TheHiphopopotamus · 24/05/2016 12:09

Shall we do another telly addicts one where we can discuss spoilers then? All spoilers, because once I start, there'll be no holding back Wink

TheHiphopopotamus · 24/05/2016 12:11

Adult fiction tends to be a bit deserted. There was an Outlander thread there at the end of the last series and it just died a death.

hudyerwheesht · 24/05/2016 12:14

And would there be picture of kilts and knees on both?

I think whether you are on the thread to discuss tv, books or both there should always be pictures of kilts and knees. Grin

I'm up for a separate thread, it may be a good time to set it up as this one is about to run out...?

pixieg1rl · 24/05/2016 12:18

I'd vote for a Fallen lassies of Lallybroch thread on telly. I don't have any loyalty to the books as I've only read them after s1, I just like speculating how they will approach bits of the sprawling batshit storyline and what they cut out or leave in.

And discussing Jamie's hair and knees, obviously

AKAmyself · 24/05/2016 12:28

Really sorry if I've spoiled the thread, I have tried to be careful :(

I would prefer not to split into book readers and non book readers but I recognise it's difficult. The way I've seen it done on Reddit is they have two threads on the show, clearly labelled as for book readers and for non book readers.

MistressFraser · 24/05/2016 12:36

How about two threads: 'Lassies of Lallybroch - SPOILERS' Or something similar. And then a straight 'Outlander Season 2 - NO SPOILERS'?

I'm sure someone can think of something wittier.

TheHiphopopotamus · 24/05/2016 12:47

Good idea mistress

If you've read the books, it's hard not to speculate on where they're going/what they've left out/etc. I have no particular loyalty to the books either, but I would like to discuss them in regards to the telly series.

So basically what pixie said Grin

MistressFraser · 24/05/2016 13:19

Ok, have taken the enormous liberty of doing Lassies of Lallybroch of Lallybroch - SPOILERS
http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/2645002-lassies-of-lallybroch-spoilers here

MistressFraser · 24/05/2016 13:22

Can someone else do the other one? Otherwise I will get confused between the two and defeat the whole object by posting the wrong thing.

MistressFraser · 24/05/2016 13:25

Does this work? Lassies of Lallybroch - SPOILERS
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/2645002-lassies-of-lallybroch-spoilers

hudyerwheesht · 24/05/2016 13:45

Is the non spoiler one created yet? It's hard to tell from your first post there, mistressfraser?

If not, I'll do the non spoiler one...

And AKA don't worry, as someone said, its hard not to mention things from the books and it was most of the posters, not just you. I think its only the OP and I that haven't read them.

MistressFraser · 24/05/2016 13:51

Go for it, hud - I haven't.

hudyerwheesht · 24/05/2016 13:59

non spoilers thread

Do drop by sometime, I've a feeling its going to be quiet in there!
