He did tell the vicar that for a split second he thought the baby was his. Which seems a bit daft. Unless Claire's really an elephant and she's been gestating the baby for a couple of years Wink

I think it was just to try and gain some sympathy for Frank. I think the TV series is trying to flesh the character out a bit more, as he's a bit of an arsehole in the book and you kind of wonder why she stays with him so long, Jamie or no.

Twinklestein · 11/04/2016 21:34

I don't think he meant literally - it was a split second instinctive thing and then he realised of course it wasn't his.

Anyway, I'm here to complain about Jamie's hair.

He looked so hot in the first series and now he looks a bit like a metaller.

LBOCS2 · 11/04/2016 21:36

Does anyone else think Jamie looks a touch like Eddie Izzard? It's the jawline, I think...

TheHiphopopotamus · 11/04/2016 21:42

Yeah, I don't like his hair now either. I know fans of the book were complaining about his hair in S1 because it wasn't long enough and in the book, it's long blah blah but it doesn't suit the actor as much now Confused

he also looks better in a kilt Blush

Cerseirys · 11/04/2016 21:48

Yeah, my first thought upon seeing him was "WTF have they done to his hair?"

pixieg1rl · 11/04/2016 21:55

Yes his hair is better at the start of S1.

Press have been all ooh look at the lovely costumes in S2, and all I could think was he's going to spend most of the time in trousers which is a crime against hormonal women Angry

Drywhitethanks · 11/04/2016 22:00

LBO Eddie Izzard Grin

So, I started season 1 last tue, finished in 4 days and then watched episode1 season 2 on Sunday, then went through watching the best bits of 1 again addicted and loads of You Tube stuff. I haven't read the books.

I hated half an hour without Jamie.
I disliked Frank from the start, think he's a patronising, humourless bore.
Love Murtagh ....can't wait to see what the French make of him.
Evil French Count is rather dishy....we'll obviously see more of him oooo la la
Is Black Jack actually dead.....last I saw of him he was under a door trampled by highland cattle which I thought was a master stroke Grin
Jamie's hair is at times a bit dodgy but I think it improves judging by the promo pic......if they give him a pony tail I may faint.
Claire's hair is erratic......

Voila my summing up and highly intellectual analysis Grin

Good to meet you all

Oh and I dont think I can manage with only one episode a week....thought we were getting the whole series idiot

OP posts:
TheHiphopopotamus · 11/04/2016 22:19

I agree. One a week seems a bit stingy Hmm Grin

hudyerwheesht · 12/04/2016 06:32

Agree with OP's intellectual analysis. Grin

Also not liking Jamie's hair and lack of kilt - but I think he does get a ponytail iirc from promo pics...

I may be over thinking my earlier question but it still seems the whole 2 year absence thing escaped Frank almost entirely - he goes to great length to tell the vicar the whole backstory of his embarrassing sterility when he could have summed it up the disappointment in one sentence of "then I realised of course with how long she's been away that therefore it couldn't possibly be mine"

Agree that it was obviously used to garner sympathy for Frank but still, seemed a bit daft. Plus it made me confused about the whole timeline thing, thinking I had got it wrong. Lord knows it's confusing enough. Which reminds me, how come in the promos Claire's heavily pregnant?

Cerseirys · 12/04/2016 06:57

I can answer that question but it would be a spoiler!

Fiderer · 12/04/2016 07:34

Think I'll enjoy TV decent Frank if he's as horrid in the books as some of you are saying & ignore the books for now.

Interesting to read about the Jacobite Rebellion instead.

Am still confused about the pregnancy timeline. If we're seeing a flashback to France/build up to Culloden - she was pregnant on the way to France & she's pregnant again. 2nd child?

Drywhitethanks · 12/04/2016 07:45

No spoilers! Think I've worked it all out though.

OP posts:
Fiderer · 12/04/2016 07:54

Sorry! Too confused to even think of that. Will just watch & see.

And remain confused no doubt Grin

hudyerwheesht · 12/04/2016 09:20

I wondered if it was the 2nd child too - apparently they have a son at some point.

But then, how come she hasn't mentioned the daughter she's left behind?

I'm not expecting anyone to answer that, obviously its hard to avoid spoilers if you do. Those of us who haven't read the books will have to remain confused for now! Grin

I noticed his hair is very different too (apart from the length), and from looking at recent pictures of Sam Heughan, I think it's because his hairline is starting to recede.

Might we have a balding Jamie come season 3?

Drywhitethanks · 12/04/2016 10:33

Did Sam win an award for season 1? Think he was incredible in the Wentworthscenes as was Tobias M.

So excited to see proper French ott 18C costumes.

Also....... Intellectual question coming up..... Who would you back in a sword fight, Jamie Fraser or Jon Snow? -- I've been giving this a lot of thought Grin

OP posts:
Drywhitethanks · 12/04/2016 10:36

And another one....

Is it necessary for the rape scene to be so graphic? In GoT Sansa experiences something similar but we don't see it...

Back to his hair, in interviews it varies tooHmm

OP posts:
Twinklestein · 12/04/2016 10:44

Grr, in total agreement about Jamie's hair! It needs to be kinda over his forehead, and a bit shorter. It's odd, but when he has that early Season 1 ish hair I find him immensely attractive, and when it's not...meh. Bizarre!

That's exactly how I feel! He has to have the right hair to be fanciable. Bad hair day and it's all over.

I guess that means I don't love him right? Shock

OohMavis · 12/04/2016 11:14

He got snubbed at the Globes. Cait and Tobias got noms though.

OohMavis · 12/04/2016 11:17

It's because he has a forehead that takes up over 50% of his face Grin

I suffer from the same affliction. Fringes are a must. He was bloody gorgeous in the first few episodes of S1.

Might we have a balding Jamie come season 3?

Christ, I hope not! Shock

That'll be me done with it, if so. I can live with trousers instead of a kilt (just about) but no hair at all?

Anybody would think we're not watching this for the storyline Wink
