I don't think the dog breeds were anything more than than what a boy his age would mention, especially a bit teasing as he knew there'd be no way they'd agree.

diddl · 18/03/2016 09:35

I'm surprised that anyone thought that Alison & Darryl were anything other that mother and son.

Although the actors are only 15yrs apart in age.

She's 45, he's 30.

absolutelynotfabulous · 18/03/2016 10:58

diddl I agree. She looks 45 imho; I'd say the Darryl actor looks younger than 30 in the prog.

SoupDragon · 18/03/2016 11:43

wish it'd been twelve episodes like they do in America

Don't American series have to be longer because of all the adverts?

drspouse · 18/03/2016 17:39

I think they have to be a at length to fit in with much more rigid yearly schedules, set season breaks, sports etc.

southeastdweller · 18/03/2016 20:00

That's what I thought too drspouse.

TheHiphopopotamus · 19/03/2016 14:15

Really enjoyed this although I agree 12 episodes would have been better (or even 8).

Sarah Lancashire is bloody brilliant. Absolutely outstanding actress. Also Kevin Doyle has been ace in this, completely different to his part in Downton and the WW1 drama he was in a couple of years ago.

I thought SL was looking at Ryan at the end thinking he was going turn out like his dad. Can't remember exactly what was said leading up to it, but I got the overall impression that you can't escape your 'bad blood'.

squoosh · 19/03/2016 14:18

I don't think BBC have the budget to make these shows 12 episodes rather than 6.

mightyducks · 19/03/2016 20:58

I absolutely love this series! A couple of small niggles though, about Ryan's letter getting through as has already been mentioned and then that all those police stood around watchmg that guy threatening to jump off that bridge and none of them thought to close the road!!

squoosh · 19/03/2016 21:00

Maybe they hadn't been on the suicide prevention course either.

GypsyFl0ss · 19/03/2016 22:06

Macabre Grin squoosh

whatevermaycome · 21/03/2016 08:21

Apparently SL has said she won't do a 3rd series Shock

FarrowandBallAche · 21/03/2016 08:54

I hope that's not true!
Where did you read that?Shock

ThatsNotMyRabbit · 21/03/2016 09:40

Right help me out here because it's driving me crazy.

The girl who played Ann in series 1.

What else has she been in??

I've searched IMDb but can't find what I've seen her in.

But it would seem IMDb isn't comprehensive because I was sure I'd seen Derek Riddell in Dr Who and that isn't on IMDb but he WAS in it.

So what have I seen her in??

whatevermaycome · 21/03/2016 09:41

It was in the Daily Mail online. She said she wouldn't want to take it to another series

ThatsNotMyRabbit · 21/03/2016 09:42

Oh I've got it!!

Game of Thrones!! Don't watch it but they showed a clip on Gogglebox a while back! That where I know her from! Phew!!

pigeonpoo · 21/03/2016 09:44

Gutting news - I hope this is just a ploy to keep everyone talking about it

absolutelynotfabulous · 21/03/2016 09:54

Much as I loved it, I don't know if I could take any moreGrin.

TheHiphopopotamus · 21/03/2016 10:02

thatsnot I don't think she was in Game of Thrones. There was a similar programme on BBC2 recently about the Saxons and she was in that. It was called The Last Kingdom.

She was also in The Village with John Simm.

ThatsNotMyRabbit · 21/03/2016 10:04

Ah that might have been it! Thanks Hippo! 👍🏻
