Pleased and not pleased ... The indelible memory of his Happy Valley character has rather prevented me from enjoying Mr Norton in War and Peace.

And it's too early in the year - long dark nights need something light (like Last Tango in Halifax ...). Would prefer it if they kept the blood and horror till the clocks go forward.

I watched the recap on iplayer and had forgotten how horrific Sarah L looked when she came out of the house after he'd beaten her up, I remember wondering if she would survive.

They showed a recap of S1 and then showed ep 1 of S2. That scene when she rescued Ann from the cellar and was badly beaten was still shocking to see. There was also a really good Q&A afterwards with Sally Wainwright, Sarah Lancashire, James Norton and other cast members.

Good start to the 2nd series. I was worried that it may disappoint after a cracking 1st series.

Bizarre how Tommy Lee has convinced himself that Catherine is the architect of all his misfortunes, isn't it? Did Frances know him before he was imprisoned, or do we think she's one of those women who get a kick out of corresponding with men in prison for serious offences?

The woman who died in the hospital was the wife of Nevison Gallagher - his daughter was the girl kidnapped in the last series. Their daughter is the new PCSO, if I got that right.
