Anyone see Shetland tonight? New drama series on BBC1?

I liked it! Nice to see the scenery, plus Scottish accents on a BEeb programme.

I think it was a gun bag, not a fishing bag that was fed to the flames, if that helps. Just watching the last three episodes again

OldCrowMedicineShow · 25/02/2016 12:37

Yes, the gun bag although an eyewitness described it as 'long like a bag for a fishing rod' I think.
There has been little background about Freja Galdie but I wonder if jealousy made her follow then shoot Leeanne yet she was aiming for Michael.

I'm also convinced that Mr Digestive Biscuits will have seen Freja and will inadvertently tell Tosh. I do feel that Freja is the 'person on Shetland who is helping the gunman'.

Bombaybunty · 25/02/2016 12:44

So, the last episode has been postponed due to the bloody football.

OldCrowMedicineShow · 25/02/2016 14:02

It is infuriating Bombaybunty. It feels like the first episode was months ago.

Roonerspism · 25/02/2016 14:36

I hope it isn't Freya. It would be too implausible for me. Nice Shetland artists don't become psychopaths....!

I wonder if Craig, the original victim, was trying to get at his dad.

Gruach · 25/02/2016 15:24

I would be flummoxed if Freya turned out to be more directly caught up in the crime plot. Surely her role in the story was as the protected witness' reason for staying alive? (He followed Leanne with the aim of protecting the future he thought he would have with Freya.) For us her existence added to the empathy we felt for her boyfriend - we wanted him to escape because we could see he was loved by a manifestly decent person.

Really hope my expectations are not confounded!

firesidechat · 25/02/2016 16:11

I will be completely flummoxed too. No, it won't happen like that.

Gruach · 25/02/2016 19:17

A Shetland "found objects" artist is about to be interviewed on Front Row. Grin

thenightsky · 26/02/2016 23:05

I;m confused. I thought it should be on tonight Confused

did it finish and I missed it?

Catzpyjamas · 26/02/2016 23:08

It wasn't on tonight because of the rugby Sad
Back on next Friday.

MogLikesEggs · 26/02/2016 23:11

bloody rugby - that's my weekend viewing ruined. I also thought quiet road kill man was nice. The carcasses would be an issue though.

Gruach · 26/02/2016 23:26

Nah - once he's taken up by the international art world all the carcasses will be 4d printed and diamond encrusted.

Even though I knew it wasn't on this week I've found myself checking TV timetables just in case ...

OldCrowMedicineShow · 27/02/2016 14:34

The scriptwriters want you to think road kill art equals dark, weird and unpleasant, maybe even murdery but silversmith jewellery is clean and acceptable.

And that vile old man in the retirement home, he is up to no good. Every week his hands are around the old lady's neck or he is pouncing out of doorways, scaring her. I think he is the money behind the drugs.

2rebecca · 27/02/2016 20:48

It's annoying the rugby isn't put on one of the other BBC channels when Shetland is their main 9pm show. Surely rugby fans will watch it wherever they stick it, mind you they could stick Shetland somewhere else as well and as long as they told us where it was we'd find it.

Davros · 27/02/2016 21:47

Mad to schedule such a compelling flagship drama at 9pm on a Friday. It's obviously not a good slot

2rebecca · 28/02/2016 00:53

Agree, it's not as though the rugby was a last minute change of plan. There's enough rubbish on the BBC that they could rearrange instead

OnlyLovers · 28/02/2016 14:17

Yes, they've treated this series appallingly from a scheduling point of view and I'd be very pissed off if I were a producer. Do they not want people to watch it?

OldCrowMedicineShow · 29/02/2016 09:02

Douglas Henshall tweeted a thanks to people in Sweden and Finland who have already seen the last episode and have kept quiet.

But, Friday! I'm going to get snacks in and make a night of it!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/02/2016 09:43

Other programmes get shifted over to BBC2 when there's a scheduling conflict. Hell, the football could have been on BBC2 - I am sure the fans would have managed to find it!

SealSong · 04/03/2016 12:34

Last episode tonight, folks!

Gruach · 04/03/2016 12:36

Yay!

Hmm
Gruach · 04/03/2016 12:38

But how will I live when it's over?

Only Happy Valley and the spy thing that I only half like to entertain me.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/03/2016 13:38

I am currently on an Ann Cleeve binge - I'm waiting for two more of the Vera books to be delivered, and am watching all the old episodes of Vera too. I like Shetland better, because it takes more time to tell the stories, whereas Vera stories only last a couple of hours - but it is helping me cope with the forthcoming end of Shetland.

bigbadbarry · 04/03/2016 14:31

DH is not going out! I'm going to have to wait until Monday to watch :(

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/03/2016 15:22

You have to ltb, barry - sorry.
