Anyone see Shetland tonight? New drama series on BBC1?

I liked it! Nice to see the scenery, plus Scottish accents on a BEeb programme.

OP posts:
OnlyLovers · 23/02/2016 18:42

I'd imagine the Beeb itself will be flogging it.

Sarah715 · 23/02/2016 19:06

I'd go out with road kill man. I like the big daft quiet types with beards Smile

Gruach · 23/02/2016 19:15

Step away from my future Sarah ...

Grin
Sarah715 · 23/02/2016 19:18

Oh so sorry - had you bagged him already? Fully understand...ahem...I'll join the queue for Dougie boy instead then shall I? Smile

Gruach · 23/02/2016 19:40

I do like Perez's somewhat impassive emotionality (Confused) but I keep imagining a blissful life with Roadkill.

I've been as far as Orkney but lacked the time and energy to go any further. I guess Shetland now has a million extra tourists drawn by the TV series?

Sarah715 · 23/02/2016 19:41

My sister used to live in the castle on Rum. I should have gone up there but I didn't.

Arkengarthdale · 23/02/2016 22:01

It's not available to buy or download or rent until 7 March. Can I elbow my way to the front of the queue? I noticed someone up thread referring to 'Dougie' Henshall, I remember him from way back. It's Douglas now. I think we've proba by just aged nicely enough for each other Smile Mind you, large, bearded, artistic, kind bloke might do. I'm used to remote areas Smile

Grin snap

Travelledtheworld · 24/02/2016 09:33

Roadkill man he is obviously gentle and kind.
But would probably cook you a puffin stew or something....

OnlyLovers · 24/02/2016 09:36

Roadkill man is very sweet.

I do wonder though what would happen if you did go out 'for coffee and a digestive biscuit' with him and the cafe didn't offer digestives. Would he go totally postal?

Gruach · 24/02/2016 09:46

What is his name? And the actor's name? Can't find this information anywhere - not even on the series website.

OnlyLovers · 24/02/2016 09:52

Character's name is Lowrie I think? Actor, according to IMDB, is Jamie Michie.

Gruach · 24/02/2016 09:55

Ah thanks. (I couldn't have told, from that page, that it was him!)

OnlyLovers · 24/02/2016 10:00

Well, I'm assuming his character is called Lowrie, otherwise I'm totally wrong too!

DSClarke · 24/02/2016 10:01

It says he's in 6 episodes, but that can't be right.

RKM and Tosh are the breakout stars of this series.

Have they announce any more Shetland?

SealSong · 24/02/2016 10:15

Yes, he wrote 'from Lowrie' on the label on the whisky bottle that he gave to Tosh (along with the drawing).

Lol @ puffin stew. Yes, you could never be quite sure what you were eating for dinner at his place. Still, that's resourceful islanders for you.

Liking all the love for Roadkill Artist!

Arkengarthdale · 24/02/2016 11:00

Yes SealSong, well spotted re the label on the bottle. I wondered if he had drawn Tosh at the airport when she was drinking with that guy and so would be able to draw a photo-quality picture of the guy. But then I realised that the chances of his ever leaving Shetland were virtually non-existent Smile

SealSong · 24/02/2016 18:48

Ooh good thought re him being at the airport, but yes, unlikely.

OldCrowMedicineShow · 24/02/2016 20:21

I'm wondering if he may appear with sketches of the killer? Tosh might see them if she returns to his house (and I think she will).

I think Freya Galdie was the person burning the fishing bag. It is a woman's hand feeding the bag into the burner.

Arkengarthdale · 24/02/2016 21:13

Ooo yes OldCrow, that would be good. Totally over-invested in this thread Grin

DSClarke · 24/02/2016 21:19

What fishing bag?! I am totally confused

pixieg1rl · 24/02/2016 21:32

I think Freya is involved/a plant or something, based entirely on the principle that well known actresses don't play inconsequential bit parts

SealSong · 24/02/2016 21:45

Interesting thoughts, OldCrow and Pixie

bigbadbarry · 24/02/2016 22:12

What fishing bag, please?

bigbadbarry · 24/02/2016 22:17

And if she is a famous actress then I agree. We all look back fondly to the episode of Morse that had Warren Clarke as a porter - we all knew who'd dunnit before it had even been dun!
