...but how will we cope without Martin? Without his warmth and humour won't it be a bit bleak?

OP posts:
Allofaflumble · 30/11/2015 13:25

I'm really warming to Henrik. Loved the way he said "OK" when she told him her sex rules. Grin

MadFestiveGnome · 30/11/2015 13:25

So why did the killer leave Hans alive? He must have meant him to be found alive, the others were killed and then positioned.

expatinscotland · 30/11/2015 13:31

Yes, Hans is alive. In a coma. That's why Saga said, 'It would be really nice if you woke up, Hans,' which I thought was rather touching considering how Aspie she is.

glamorousgrandmother · 30/11/2015 13:49

Another one here confusing the cleaner and the gambler, the CEO's lover is also similar looking but distinguishable. DH thinks they will turn out to be brothers.

Optimist1 · 30/11/2015 17:39

I didn't have too much trouble with the blond men, but the brunette women (funeral director fan of the motivational speaker and new CEO of the housing company) really had me confused! Smile

RomComPhooey · 30/11/2015 19:13

All these bloody Scandis look the same! Grin

I have the same with any kind of period drama packed with lots of similarly attired identikit lantern-jawed pretty boys that seem so popular these days. Assume its either a sign of 'groupthink' by casting directors or my hastening senility.

hackmum · 30/11/2015 20:38

Both DP and I thought the two blond men (the cleaner and the gambler with the pregnant girlfriend) were the same guy. Apart from that, DP has a pretty good grasp of what's going on whereas I am completely at sea.

What is the CEO of the housing company there for? What's she up to?

I always find these Scandi dramas a bit confusing, but in this series the compelling/baffling ratio has tipped over more to the baffling side.

HermioneWeasley · 30/11/2015 21:33

Thank goodness I wasn't the only one confused by all the young blond men!

Seeing Saga so vulnerable is heartbreaking, and Linn had a fucking cheek tricking her into the memorial service - that's a grievance, right there.

Another one hoping Henrick doesn't turn out to be a baddie - I'm really warming to him and he's much more competent than the warm and cuddly and sexually incontinent Martin.

RomComPhooey · 30/11/2015 22:19

But Henrick is also sexually incontinent, no? Although I suppose his wife is only pretend/imaginary, so that just makes him a horny single, which is OK.

MotherofFlagons · 30/11/2015 22:24

I had some sympathy for Linn, even if what she was trying to do was misguided. I think she was trying to help Saga in the same way Hans or Martin would have. Look at how she was after Saga started smashing up the canteen. I think she is genuinely trying to help but not knowing how.

NeverEverAnythingEver · 01/12/2015 07:19

I don't care if Linn has good intentions - the road to hell etc etc - people are always trying to get other people to conform to their own ideas of what emotions one should feel and how one should express that. They should really fuck off. >

HermioneWeasley · 01/12/2015 07:35

RomCom, I don't mind how unfaithful people are to imaginary spouses!

glamorousgrandmother · 01/12/2015 09:24

RomComPhooey - But Henrick is also sexually incontinent, no? Although I suppose his wife is only pretend/imaginary, so that just makes him a horny single, which is OK.
Brilliant! I hadn't got that.

DeirdreDoo · 01/12/2015 10:59

Aspie? Really?

(sorry I hate that word) Isn't she just very emotionally damaged? I didn't think it was the same thing as being autistic.

Holstein · 01/12/2015 11:06

Wow- so many new characters to wonder about!
elendon could you elaborate as to why Hans' surname (Pettersson?) is unlucky? Is that a Swedish language thing?
There are a lot of confusing young blond men.
Rikard, the cleaner.
Marc, the gambling boyfriend.
The Eurovision entrant's bit on the side (who is young son of her BFF!!) but I don't know his name.
Emil, in first two episodes. But I'm struggling to remember who exactly Emil is. (I just remember the name because DH thought he was Rikard.)
I thought Linn was a complete bitch in that episode! Wtf does she think she's doing? It's not her place to get involved with Saga's mother.
I felt v sorry for Hans' ex-wife. Presumably she hasn't been able to see him. But they were married for 20/years. How awful for her.

My big theory is that as Saga goes through Henryk's case file, she'll almost solve the case, but come to the conclusion that something is missing from the file or been redacted, chance it remaining unsolved. Possibly the info has always been missing, but ?Henryk perhaps kept something out. This revalation will lead her to realise that her sister's medical records also have information missing, and that her parents are still lying, and covering up what they did to her and her sister (Juliette?).
I think there may be a v sinister reason why Henryk doesn't let people into his house, though it could just be to preserve the memory of the woman and her children (who may not be his wife and children. But rather, haunting him (I don't mean a ghostly way, emotionally) because he didn't solve their case.

I did wonder if the black-haired woman seen in the painting studio at the overweight art collector's house might have been the missing woman, Alice.

Annika/superfan is super creepy. Would you have let her in, so late at night?

Holstein · 01/12/2015 11:10

Deirdre, I think it's generally accepted that Saga has Aspergers syndrome.
However, I know that borderline personality disorder caused by early trauma from emotional and other abuse (as Saga had suffered) can present very similarly to Aspergers, particularly in women.

I meant hence not chance, above. DYAC.

DeirdreDoo · 01/12/2015 11:13

Oh, Ok. Thanks. I will go and look it up. Bit annoying if she's intended to have AS. I have it and I'm not quite the same as her Smile

Holstein · 01/12/2015 12:07

Smile I certainly would not expect one person to act like another simply because they happen to have the same condition in common.
Plus, Saga is a character, so by necessity her character and features are exaggerated, because we only have a short time to get to know her and try to understand her motivations, and how her experiences have led her to act or react in situations.
My DD has AS. She's not in the least like Saga, except perhaps she also does not like her mother! Grin

stopfaffing · 01/12/2015 16:54

I was watching on catch up and had to stop the programme twice to shout at the screen; once when Marc went gambling AGAIN!!! after everything that had happened [angry}FFS, and when Linn took Saga to the memorial service. How dare she? Wrong, on every level. LEAVE SAGA ALONE!!

Phew, glad to get that off my chest.

stopfaffing · 01/12/2015 16:54

Angry Grin

NeverEverAnythingEver · 01/12/2015 17:43
Grin

I was SO angry with Linn.

eddiemairswife · 01/12/2015 18:21

I missed where the eurovision info was divulged, so I'm glad I read it here.

Holstein · 01/12/2015 18:33

Eddie- it was when she opened her computer to read ?aftonblatt. It was part of the bylines in the article, but I did the subtitles could have been better at that point!
Until then, I don't think we'd had a clue she was a Eurovision star, maybe it wasn't translated?
What do people think her husband, Hakon, does? Footballer? But looks a little old...

Whatevva · 01/12/2015 18:47

Hi - I got muddled with the combination of blond men and brunettes but got there with a bit of rewinding. Likewise the phantom wife.

I am rather upset at what happened to the tarantula though Hmm.

Enjoying it immensely and hope Linn gets put back in her box soon.

Holstein · 01/12/2015 19:20

I was amazed the tarantula fitted up there!
