...but how will we cope without Martin? Without his warmth and humour won't it be a bit bleak?

OP posts:
profpoopsnagle · 24/11/2015 22:37

I've had to watch each episode again! I think Saga's new partner (male) has deffo been in the armed forces, he did a 'mind' map in episode 2 which made me think that. I reckon he is connected with Mortem, the first victim's son. If he is the killer, or turns out to be connected in the gang, then it would be a similar storyline to the Killing II. I also decided that he wasn't married- that was just our assumption with the way it was filmed. I wondered if the lady shown with him was a sister or babysitter looking after the kids (and no spare bedroom!) but think the dead wife theory is better.

quirkychick · 25/11/2015 18:03

Yy to similarities with Killing II. Morten was supposed to be in Afghanistan in a group that were accused of rape.

I like the theory of the dead wife. Something very strange going on there...

I think the cleaner/son whoever in the vlogger's house is very suspicious. Someone seems to be killing those she criticises

AgentProvocateur · 25/11/2015 20:59

Checking in from the other Bridge thread.

profpoopsnagle · 25/11/2015 21:25

Another Bridge thread? Shock Is that the Swedish side thread?

AgentProvocateur · 25/11/2015 22:06

Ja verkligen Wink

Great theory elendon. DH and I were trying to work out what was just so odd about their interactions. He's v creepy, isn't he?

RomComPhooey · 25/11/2015 23:20

I love elendon's theory.

I think Saga's new partner (male) has deffo been in the armed forces

As were a number of the cops in The Killing, particularly in The Killing II. Perhaps it's a thing.

I thought Saga had become more Saga-ish in this series. I can't work out whether they've over-egged it, or whether it's meant to be a sign of her gradually unravelling. She doesn't seem as together in this series. The bit with her mum chasing her up the stairs and her distress was really well done.

MadFestiveGnome · 26/11/2015 07:53

This one's much busier! Off to read it from the beginning.

MadFestiveGnome · 26/11/2015 08:01

So Sofia Helin said that in the gender neutral nursery she sends her children to, they say 'come on friends, let's go out to play', rather than 'come on boys and girls'. I like how some topical issues are being weaved into the plot, rather than just all being about the murdery business.

Interesting theory about the dead wife. This new detective seems to get Saga a bit more than the one that got her leg blown off.

I also enjoyed the fact that the cleaner was male rather than female. So far it seems like a good series! I love having two episodes each time.

Helenluvsrob · 26/11/2015 08:13

Why have I only just found this series? It's bril! Off to get the old series too!

fussychica · 26/11/2015 09:25

Brilliant theory Elendon that would all make sense, including the pills and coke. Miss Martin, DH has got all his jumpers and now he's gone! This series is shaping up nicely, shame we have to wait til Saturday to get our next fix.

LovelyFriend · 26/11/2015 12:15

It makes sense that Saga is more rattled and unsure.
Her relationship with Martin had a massive influence on her life - he taught her so much about people and her effect on them and "social norms" - so we see her trying really hard to incorporate when she learnt and it falls flat i.e. her attempt at "small talk". it is clearly puzzling.

Through Martin, Saga opened herself up to change, and she grew very close to him - perhaps closer than she is with anyone. And boom! he is gone.

stopfaffing · 26/11/2015 13:25

Joining from other thread Grin.

MadFestiveGnome · 27/11/2015 01:25

I liked how Saga still thinks that in nine and a half years, Martin will come out of jail and she'll have her friend back.

quirkychick · 27/11/2015 07:28

Yy, Martin definitely tempered her anti-social side and was very sympathetic and understanding. She has lost her only friend, and now Hans, her father figure. Also, her nc mother has come back, throwing doubt on Saga's perception of her childhood. Very tricky for her.

Her clear analysis is what makes her an excellent cop, she doesn't see the social stuff, so in fact, is not distracted by it.

I'm trying to remember who Saga applied Munchausen's by proxy too in the first series.

Helenluvsrob the previous series are excellent, very tense and exciting.

WeetabixExpress · 27/11/2015 23:13

Marking place, just caught up with ep 1&2. Hadnt even considered the theory of dead wife...Brilliant opening as always, you have lots of open threads and no idea what is going on and how it is all connected. And true to form there will be a good dose of false leads....

Elendon · 28/11/2015 23:22

Oh that was fantastic tonight.

So many threads to discuss.

Gambler and pregnant wife storyline - what was in that bag!?

Saga's new partner, getting very strange now - why would he give the file to Saga and why did he pretend to be in the shower. Plus he knew what it was like to lose a child.

Poor Hans (unfortunate surname).

Plus so many others. I think the woman who had the affair with her friend's son needs to spend some time on the Relationships board. That's not going to end well.

NoahVale · 29/11/2015 07:53

munchauson by proxy, wasnt that martin's daughter, the nanny?

RomComPhooey · 29/11/2015 08:25

I wanted to notionally 'bookmark' the conversation where Saga's new partner Henrik was interviewing the 'Killbrother' soldier Lukas. Lukas is insistent he knows Henrik, is good at faces but Henrik denies it. As others have noted, he has military training habits and possibly PTSD (pills, sleep issues etc). Do we think he was in Afghanistan too? Could Morten's dying words have meant another soldier generally, as in brother in arms? Has there been any point when Saga and Henrik jointly interviewed Morten? As far as I can remember, he's been on the run since the explosion.

RomComPhooey · 29/11/2015 08:27

Also, Saga's mother was rather controlling when she came to the Police station and it was sad to see Saga become so meek and compliant. Ugh.

RomComPhooey · 29/11/2015 08:29

(I think her mother's intervention will push Saga to look harder and ultimately prove her parents harmed her sister. Blaming Saga for her sister's early death was particularly cruel.)

quirkychick · 29/11/2015 08:58

Oh, NoahVale thanks, I couldn't remember who it was, it was for Martin 's daughter.

I think Saga will try to push to find the truth about her mother. Her mother was really not very nice to her. Saga seemed to revert to a child and not know how to deal with her.

The new partner would appear to have quite a past, good call on the wife and children, obviously in his head. Are they dead or missing? I knew the cleaner was dodgy, but not the main perpetrator it seems.

Henrik must have some respect for Saga's abilities to give her the file to look over. He has quite astute memory too, the box of photos, the number plate of the van.

Sunnymeg · 29/11/2015 09:01

I don't trust the acting police chief. What on earth was she doing making Saga go to the memorial service. She definitely wants to take over and sees Saga as a threat.

RomComPhooey · 29/11/2015 09:09

I need to stop reading for a bit now, as I only managed ep3 last night. Smile

AnnieNoMouse · 29/11/2015 09:21

So Henrik's wife and daughters are dead or missing, and I think they are among the missing in that 2009 file he gave to Saga to look at. The top sheet of that file - was that woman meant to be the new CEO of the property co - I think there was some suggestion by her mother that no-one would recognise her after all these years?
I was convinced until late into last nights episodes that the two young blonde men were the same person. So the cleaner killed the priest but not the others, is that right? And the other one has a gambling habit and has a connection to Morten's army colleague, but other than that no apparent connection to the murders?
I am very confused about the bag retrieved from Sweden. When the car pulled up and took it from the pregnant woman's car - was that Henrik? And having been taken what was that scene where it was taken to someone's house and then turned up with blonde guy with a plait?
I'm confused!
