I'm not really bothered what people spend their benefits on. Confused

I work with benefit claimants and I never hear/see any bragging. Most people I know feel ashamed...I wonder why? Hmm

Maybe it's just the younger generations but everyone I know on benefits loves not having to work and having a free roof over their heads so they can spend all the money on booze and drugs without a care in the world. It's probably just the mentality of those under 30

Quiero · 09/11/2015 22:50

Lol

Kittyfrickle · 09/11/2015 22:51

You should visit my county sometime and see for yourself, it's vile and pretty true to the show this thread is about so maybe that's why I'm getting so peeved about it because I see it for myself on a daily basis

OP posts:
thornrose · 09/11/2015 22:52

just thought you guys would like to know where some of your hard earned money goes

I really don't think us guys need your help! You've dropped the wide eyed innocence blush face crap about the purpose of the thread pretty damned quick too! Hmm

Kittyfrickle · 09/11/2015 22:54

You do realise at least 70% of benefit claimants are actually like this, or do you all live in lovely sheltered posh towns and villages?

OP posts:
gamerchick · 09/11/2015 22:54

Yup ^^ Grin

nice try though.

AllOfTheCoffee · 09/11/2015 22:55

Oh yay!

A benefits bashing thread based on a benefits bashing TV show. How very refreshing and original.

Kittyfrickle · 09/11/2015 22:57

Have you actually ever been to Yorkshire or any of the surrounding counties? As a local I think show did a bloody good job at representing what some of its inhabitants are like. Since the show was specifically about Yorkshire... Hmm

OP posts:
gamerchick · 09/11/2015 22:57

No OP they are not.

I'll say this again as I've said a million times before. Unless you're independantly wealthy you DO NOT pour scorn on benefit claimants and help the motherfuckers in charge dismantle it. You could end up on your uppers tommorow out of the blue so seriously, cop yourself on.

BINGO! probably best pull out my ageism bingo cards, too

I live in one of the most impoverished areas of the country, FTR, Kitty. It's a village, but one with stark reminders of the mine that used to be here. Definitely not sheltered.

ouryve · 09/11/2015 23:00

Which Yorkshire, Kitty? North Yorkshire is Toryland. Care to be more specific?

AllOfTheCoffee · 09/11/2015 23:00

Have you actually ever been to Yorkshire or any of the surrounding counties?

Yes, I live there. I know no one who is loud and proud on benefits by the sea, with a big fat gypsy wedding caravan or whatever the hell they've called this latest load of tosh.

I know hard working families, struggling to do their best in areas of low wages and high unemployment, often with a poor education behind them and generations of working poor in their family.

Kittyfrickle · 09/11/2015 23:02

I was raised on benefits and raised around other people that were. I live in a town (very close to where the show was based) where half of the population are dirty people who scrounge off the government for drink and drug money and have nothing better to do than shove that they do so in people's faces. I am currently pregnant and struggling on my own in a council property after being put out of work simply for choosing to have a child. I am on my 'uppers' so I think I can voice my opinion thank you very much Smile

'You do realise at least 70% of benefit claimants are actually like this, or do you all live in lovely sheltered posh towns and villages?'

You know 70% of all benefits claimants? Wow. I live in a council flat in a rural area. I've lived in council and HA flats for about 13 years now. Haven't heard anyone brag or boast. Must be that pesky other 30%.

Hmm
AllOfTheCoffee · 09/11/2015 23:05

Perhaps you ought to re-asses your friendship groups Kitty. It's quite easy to find hard working, moral families in Yorkshire and the surrounding counties.

Kittyfrickle · 09/11/2015 23:06

The day after I moved in my neighbours laughed when I told them I worked and told me how much they get in benefits. Seriously, it is my area. I'm not making this crap up, people round here are genuinely bragging leeches

OP posts:
Shutthatdoor · 09/11/2015 23:06

kitty I hope you aren't going to claim any child benefit or the such like, after all they are benefits

ouryve · 09/11/2015 23:08

Maybe you should go to the DM and do the sadface, Kitty.

I can see the story, now. Unemployed, pregnant single mother Kitty on why she is so much better than all them other scroungers.[sadface]

gamerchick · 09/11/2015 23:08

So our hard earned tax money is going towards you and your offspring in your council house? Okay then.

Quiero · 09/11/2015 23:09

Just more LOLZ

'Have you ever been to Yorkshire?" - brilliant.

Are you the deserving poor then Kitty? Unlike the 'dirty people'.
