Anyone else looking forward to this one? After last time I think there a BOys and a Girls island though it is just boys tonight. Roll up roll up anyone who has no idea how to lit a fire or build a shelter whilst knowing they are going on a survival program!

The women getting lost with no water was quite worrying! Unless its edited for effect I was on the edge of my seat! Really enjoying the show so far.

Travelledtheworld · 10/04/2015 19:33

Enjoying it also but surely any survival training would have emphasised the importance of water, shelter and Fire ? Duh.

And I really want to know how are the women going to cope with their periods and will that minor detail of island life be televised ? Blush

The no water situation could get serious really quickly.

Did anyone catch 'Walking the Nile' (it is still on 4OD) back in January?

Levison Wood attempts to walk the length of the Nile with local guides to help.

On a stretch through a Ugandan 'grassy plain'- in land from the Nile because of a 5 mile crocodile infested swamp that surrounds it at that point- Levison is joined by a UK travel writer and a US travel photographer (all ex military) for a few days. 4 hours into the walk across the plain in 40 odd degree heat the photographer starts to be affected by heat stroke. They rig up a shade, cool him with water, call in emergency evacuation (4 hours away), but within 2 hours he is dead... aged 40 with a wife and two children back in the US.

Truly shocking. I was so numb watching and trying to understand how a fit man can die so quickly of heat stroke.

It was a great series (4 programmes) but the first episode was a wake up call for those in search of adventure.

RedToothBrush · 11/04/2015 11:30

I saw it breward. If anything had happened on the Island they could have had multiple fatalities.

I have to say re: Walking the Nile for a man who supposedly was experienced at this type of thing, Levison was a bit of a fuckwit at times and made a number of very dubious decisions.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 12/04/2015 22:49

I dont understand why they didnt say to the group remaining behind "we are going due East, if we havent returned by nightfall we have found something so set off due East first thing in the morning"

Such a waste of energy and water trecking back and forth.

Jacana · 13/04/2015 11:21

hacked, but are they given a compass? Their disaster was to trek in entirely the wrong direction to get back to camp. Really worrying, I've been wondering how the heck they get/got out of thatShock had visions of the lot of them being airlifted out. And the girl who had marked the trees as they passed got overruled?

Yep, after a promising start, it's all gone, well, tits upWink For the ladies.

Jacana · 13/04/2015 11:23

Shocked rigid by the fatality in Walking the Nile. I'd no idea Sad

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 13/04/2015 14:36

Which team has the radio phone?

Akire · 14/04/2015 00:21

They both have radio phones for emergencies, though would have thought there would be secret camera around too. I mean if one of them does storm off in huph or does something stupid they could easily get killed.

I don't know why ladies didn't climb up a tree to at least try and scout out a route, they have no idea of the shape or size of the island, or to attemp to walk around the shore line, which has to be better than going through solid jungle. If they are all still alive by tomorrow hopefully they will have learnt the water lesson. They were stupid to stay behind to keep the fore going when they managed to get it going quite easily in the dark.

Am going on holiday to stay with people this week...need to persuade them to watch this!

Snowflake15 · 15/04/2015 21:23

Anyone watching tonight?

mamapain · 15/04/2015 21:33

I am! It's all a bit tedious this week. The men seemed obsessed with killing things, I don't understand why they don't look for plants like coconut or yuka to eat at all?

expatinscotland · 15/04/2015 21:35

No one is really this stupid, are they?

18yearstooold · 15/04/2015 21:35

These 2 are bloody idiots

Will they have emergency rations? Or will they rely 100% on them asking to be taking off if going to collapse? It's day 6 and no food pretty grim

OP posts:
mamapain · 15/04/2015 21:49

He is never going to live down crying over Centre Parks! How ridiculous...

This is a man who caught their first hope of food and dropped it back in.

They all need to get a grip and stop faffing around.

I think Paul should have stayed. Andy is a right cock.

Twirlwirlywoo · 16/04/2015 00:24

Andy - am speechless! What a self centred twat!

Travelledtheworld · 16/04/2015 07:05

The two who went fishing, FFS ! Couldn't they see how dangerous this was ?

Tigresswoods · 16/04/2015 09:02

Going fishing when the tide was coming in was Really stupid! But when they caught that iguana it was amazing!!!

I'd be really annoyed about the 3 guys who left, 2 of them were very weak but shouty builder guy should have stayed. He would have got stuck in I reckon.

Travelledtheworld · 16/04/2015 09:14

They are such a bunch of lads. I think were running on adrenaline until the hunger began to be a serious problem. Don't see how an Iguana would have fed eleven blokes though....
Looking forward to see them tackle killing a pig !

Jacana · 16/04/2015 10:17

Heart in mouth time when the fisherman bloke was swept away. Desperate times call for desperate measures and all that but to attempt fishing off treacherous rocks was just bloody stupid Shock

Cheered when they caught the iguana. They've done well with the fire, the bedding, the camp, now got to get hunting to get some more food in their bellies, hope they can .

To get coconuts you have to climb one hell of a tall tree and that needs a lot of skill. I watched the lads do it on an island in the Gulf of Thailand.Well, that or just sit under one for ages,, hoping for one to handily drop near you, is that what you're thinking, mama ?

The scorpion incident really brought home the dangers of not having feet protected when out and about, didn't it?

We're really being shown how tough it is out there. The trailer for tonight's viewing seems to show how dire it can really get.Shock

MonstersBalls · 16/04/2015 10:54

It put me off a bit when they were trying to bludgeon manta rays and chucking sharp sticks at wildlife. It all seemed a bit unnecessary for what is essentially a tv program.

I wonder why they haven't made more of a go at fishing. They've got basic fishing gear.

It also surprised me how quickly they got that shelter up, despite making a big deal of it in the first episode. Confused

RedToothBrush · 16/04/2015 10:58

I just thought STEVE IRWIN at that screen.

Tigresswoods · 16/04/2015 11:15

I hope the girls sort themselves out. So disappointed to see they are struggling.
