New the Island with Bear Grylls

Anyone else looking forward to this one? After last time I think there a BOys and a Girls island though it is just boys tonight. Roll up roll up anyone who has no idea how to lit a fire or build a shelter whilst knowing they are going on a survival program!

Men 8hrs to create fire - on the second day
Women 5hrs to create fire - on the first day

They might be screaming but they have achieved the first crucial thing quicker.

AND they got some food on the first day too.

Good grief, one has left already. Not sure why she's been collected straight away whereas yesterday when that lad wanted to leave he was told to try and stick it out for another 24 hrs.

What a wasted opportunity that girl leaving! I'd love to try something like this - I don't really have any aversion to tropical bugs, don't mind roughing it and a bit of discomfort.

Oh and it would be a great diet!

They seem to be enjoying it more than the men did? Less arguing and more supporting each other maybe.

In some ways they've made poor decisions like the shelter and running out of water but at least they're generally positive.

Lets be honest it would be a rather boring programme if they all worked together well as a team, had shelter, clean water, food and a fire burning within hours of landing. Throwing a bunch of numpties together with the usual mix of wet blankets and no nothing wannabe alpha males/females is always going to end up as car crash television.

Good ladies getting Fire and food started, bad ladies splitting the group up ! While both groups drop dead from lack of water.

If they all had training they should all be able to start fire, yes it went out in the rain but let's get going.

There can't be much of a screening process if so many want to go home straight away,frustrating for those who didn't get picked. I mean why wouldn't you cut your nails before going!

Can't believe the expedition group have got lost. They should've left people behind to set the camp/fire up while 2 or 3 went back. Now neither of the groups have fire, water or shelter!

I missed the first half of girls one, only turned over to it cos of what someone said on FB. Then watched the boys as became hooked.

Now tempted to watch the first series on catch up.

Surly you could file your nails down on a roack or knife them off?? Am always breaking nails - it is easy ;)

My 16yo DD said she felt embarrassed to be female after the womens episode tonight. The woman in the boat right at the start - did she miss the memo about what the program entailed? And then the one moaning about her nails Blush - REALLY???? Did she expect to keep them intact or find a nail bar on the island?

The women have made some daft decisions like splitting up etc but its probably very easy to sit on my nice sofa with a full tummy and a cuppa critisising their choices. Dehydration prevents you from thinking straight!

The women are not in a good place at the moment. I suspect the girl left in the jungle camp who was crying and feeling faint will be airlifted out (saw a glimpse of her lying unresponsive on the ground on an exert for next weeks episode) and hopefully the lot lost in the jungle will get back on track and able to find jungle camp by seeing the helicopter (am I over thinking this)?!

The blokes got on my nerves with their wingeing. The oldest and youngest guy need to go,they didnt seem to bring much other than moaning to the table.

Gutted we need to wait until next Wednesday for the next episode.

For some establishing who is the alpha male is more important then clean water and shelter!

I had high hopes for the women at first, a fire and food within a few hours. But quite disappointed when they split up.

Also, did the women have more equipment than the men? They seemed to have ponchos, whistle and fire starting equipment but I didn't notice the men having any of that. They were foraging string off the beach for the fire 'bow' thing.

The women started well and its gone to pot. I think we have seen less days of the men so far though which does distort it a bit.
