Anyone else looking forward to this one? After last time I think there a BOys and a Girls island though it is just boys tonight. Roll up roll up anyone who has no idea how to lit a fire or build a shelter whilst knowing they are going on a survival program!

OP posts:

The reverse snobbery against Sam was horrible.

Jacana · 14/05/2015 00:30

Sam redeemed himelf with persevering with the nets but why oh why did none of them know that nets are hawled in early in the morning? Have none of them been on holiday to Cornwall or other coastal fishing resorts?

I don't like Sam,tho, he's got eyes like Tony Blair Shock

brush I wondered about the magic raft too!

So, tomorrow is the last epi of the girl's stay on their island. From the trailer tonight they're still bickering Confused

ProfYaffle · 14/05/2015 06:51

Will's fall! Shock That was horrible.

Also, it says it's the last girls episode and online Radio Times said last night's was ep10 of 12 but the paper Radio Times said 10 of 14. I'm wondering if they've cut it short or maybe there will be a couple of 'wrap up' episodes like last year.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 14/05/2015 07:38

Vic- had no problem being on Bear's (went to Eton) program did he?!

Will's fall was awful but I'm surprised something similar, or worse, hadn't happened sooner. You would have thought they would remember when one of them nearly drowned going around rocks like that.

IKnowIAmButWhatAreYou · 14/05/2015 08:01

I think the raft thing proves how the program is being edited for effect rather than as an accurate timeline - I find myself "paunch watching" to see they're changing up & down throughout the hour.

Vics prejudices were horrible to hear vocalised, plus they made no logical sense! On the plus side - he was more than happy to admit he was wrong which was nice!

They seem to have little or no sense where those rocks are concerned - a couple of times already I've been expecting something nasty to happen - that looked painful!

I have it on good authority that this is very much the case and thought the raft was hilarious. The authority in question was quite worried about it being public, but when they show the raft like that and everyone here is going wtf and has noticed anyway its a bit pointless trying to pretend differently. It is entertaining if nothing else. And by all accounts Bear is a knob.

Jacana · 14/05/2015 08:37

The rocks! Terrifying! I've not seen the girls near a rock, tho, have you? I know that they've had to kill a tame piggie when they've caught it, and credit to them for that, but they've not had to navigate over a horribly dangerous shoreline to find them. Or to dig up the yam plantation.

You've been paunch watching, iknow? I've been watching beard growth...

Wonder what they all, men and women, will make of the edited version when they see it.

AnnPerkins · 14/05/2015 11:25

I was sceptical of the rainstorm scene: when all the men were working hard to make the camp safe, while Sam apparently stared out to sea and marvelled at the beauty of it all. Did both those things really happen at the same time or...? Hmm

Fontella · 14/05/2015 11:40

The editing is pretty transparent isn't it? Do I believe Sam was standing staring out to sea at the sunset while everyone was frantically trying to save the camp from the downpour - nope, not for a second!

But it's all done to build storylines and tension and yes, it's great fun watching the bellies go up and down in size as the bits and pieces of film are spliced together. You didn't need a crystal ball to know in advance what would happen in this episode - much maligned Sam and his waste of time nets was obviously going to bring home the supper, redeem himself and become the hero of the hour.

But as an escape, for an hour's entertainment, I still absolutely love it though!

Jacana · 14/05/2015 13:42

I love the way on the raft scene, drippy Kyle morphed into someone infinitely more fanciable second time round. Wish I could morph into....hmm, dunno, gotta think about this..

Oh yes, and Sam was standing wearing completely bone dry clothes with not even a drip of water going down his neck from the 'shelter' of the green stuff above, while the monsoon raged around?

Reminded me of Frozen set in the tropics. Bet Elsa could have sung a great song about itGrin

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 14/05/2015 14:00

so daft editing it like this- specially when you can easily see the enormous holes in it

isn't the subject matter interesting enough on its own, without dicking around imposing a 'story'?

I'm just SICK of having my intelligence insulted like this by schtoopid telly

AnnPerkins · 14/05/2015 14:19

Zactly Muddha.

I recognised one of the entrants on BGT last Saturday, we saw him in a circus when it came to our local town. He's a seasoned professional, not a plucky amateur.

Jacana · 14/05/2015 14:31

I feel the programme has done a great disservice to the participants. Disregarding tame piggies, a plantation of yucca, a carefully constructed pond to catch rain water, sorties to the beach to drop coconuts by the TV crew, whatever, the fact remains that the islanders have, mostly, not given up and got on with it, and those not high profile enough to 'entertain' us should be equally applauded. They deserve itSmile

ilovechristmas1 · 14/05/2015 21:08

bump

MuddhaOfSuburbia · 14/05/2015 21:11

Now on channel 4. Phoning It In, with Bear Grylls

Knobber

ilovechristmas1 · 14/05/2015 21:13

the women are pretty useless with no leader

chippednailvarnish · 14/05/2015 21:16

The women are an embarrassment, they have clearly picked a group of stereotypes (bar one or two of them)...

TwartFaceBeetj · 14/05/2015 21:16

Jesus it's so sad how these women are just so fucking disorganised,

ilovechristmas1 · 14/05/2015 21:19

they are to "wishy washy" the need strong leadership if they want to survive

god knows what mess they would be in if the crew etc hadnt helped them out big time

chippednailvarnish · 14/05/2015 21:20

Stop talking and start working!

chippednailvarnish · 14/05/2015 21:25

Yak yak yak....

ilovechristmas1 · 14/05/2015 21:29

SinIckAll · 14/05/2015 21:32
