Anyone else looking forward to this one? After last time I think there a BOys and a Girls island though it is just boys tonight. Roll up roll up anyone who has no idea how to lit a fire or build a shelter whilst knowing they are going on a survival program!

Give the girls some credit, they had to kill the pig, skin it. Whether or not it was 'planted' or not, they can't stick them on an island with no food! And that heat, lack of water, lack of calories is draining.

In my youth I travelled across the Sahara desert and a month travelling through the Congo. In the Congo we had only canned food, my fingernails stopped growing, I lost well over half a stone. We didn't kill our own food but I have utmost respect for what they are doing. After a month they are eating themselves!

Jacana · 03/05/2015 14:13

Well, he's a northern lad, I've got a northern bro-in-law and a blow up has never stopped him having anotherGrin

I think mostly it's been when the others haven't been pulling their weight and taking his efforts for granted? Note when he went on fishing strike and the ones who went came back grumbling about what a tough 4hrs they'd had? And no coconut to eat or coconut milk to drink when he came back once, when they'd spent the day lounging around (apparently), saying that they'd collect coconuts 'tomorrow' ? In that heat and humidity all the niggles add up...

I think that vic's the only one who has proved that he could be a survivor on a desert island completely alone. Really admire him.

Namehanger · 03/05/2015 14:19

We spent nine months together , a randomn group of strangers on truck, there are grafters (vic's) and those who do the bare minimum (Kyle). And they don't really change over time, it is like people chose a role and are stuck. Most somewhere in the middle, me somewhere in the middle!

Jacana · 03/05/2015 14:19

I'm giving some of the girls credit, certainly. It takes guts to kill and degut an animal, and I think Lauren's a star.

Always this suspicion tho, the the little piggies were more like lambs to the slaughter, tho. Hand reared ones too. Wild pigs etc. surely just don't attach themselves to humans to the extent of following them, then cuddling up with them in their arms to sleep?

And it certainly seems, like someone upthread has posted, that the sleeping lone piglet they happened across seemed to be....too asleep?

breward · 03/05/2015 22:26

The girls seem to have had more contact with the crew.

Did they really cart a set of weighing scales round the island?!

Akire · 04/05/2015 00:32

Pigs are quite clever so presume they have rarely seen humans apart from crew scouting out its easy to think they would approach out of curiosity. They have no fear of humans.
I presume the scales are part of medical supplies to keep an eye on weight lose if they have list a certain % to quick then they would be sent back

You know we were all going 'hmm set up'. Well I don't read the mail so have only just seen it was a set up.

Jacana · 05/05/2015 08:27

Ooh, high five, fellow sleuthsGrin and thanks for the Fail link.

Wonder if we'll find out that an area of sea off the coast was netted and seeded with a shoal of fish to explain vic's spectacular catches? Would explain how he and Kyle went further out to sea and only caught an eel...

Jacana · 05/05/2015 08:30

And do you now think that Lauren is a survival expert? Could beShock

ilovechristmas1 · 05/05/2015 16:33

does anybody know when the men are on tv this week, the womens has been moved to Wednesday because of the election but i cant find the mens slot

Sorehead · 05/05/2015 16:47

The men aren't being shown this week, only the women

Jacana · 05/05/2015 16:50

My TV book says, for Wednesday 9.00pm " the entire challenge comes under threat for the women'.

Nothing elseShock

Fuckit

ilovechristmas1 · 05/05/2015 16:51

thanx, i was looking forward to that, will have to make do with the womens island tomorrow Smile

Jacana · 05/05/2015 19:51

I'm not seeing what the 'challenge' was supposed to be, tho, can anyone enlighten me?....Bear awarding points for bed-making,deductions for total weight loss.....,what? Confused

If the women have all been put out of action for some reason, which seems likely from the trailer Shock why can't we watch the men anyway for the rest of their stay?

Tigresswoods · 05/05/2015 20:55

I think there's always going to be an element of fakery with any TV show. I'm still loving it, bring on the women tomorrow!

Woody47 · 06/05/2015 19:51

I thought it looked as though they had all got ill.Food poisoning, maybe?

Jacana · 06/05/2015 20:36

Well, half an hour or so then we'll knowShock

This last hour has really dragged, I've even walked the neighbours dog. I don't even like the neighbour's dog. Orrible pampered snappy yappy Pekingese thing it is.Hmm

ilovechristmas1 · 06/05/2015 21:11

anybody watching, missed the beginning my son said they all had ticks,is that right

RedToothBrush · 06/05/2015 21:19

an element of fakery

except its not. allegedly.

TagineKaput · 06/05/2015 21:19

Yes, they got ticks from the pig's carcass.

butterflyballs · 06/05/2015 21:20

Yes they all had them, pretty gross. Got them from the pig carcass.

Tigresswoods · 06/05/2015 21:20

Don't panic!!!

I think they're all done for aren't they?

beanlovesb · 06/05/2015 21:21

yes Christmas - from the rotting pig that they left in camp.

I'm really confused as to why they waited 24 hours before they tried to preserve the meat?? they caught the pig, ate, slept (woke up with tics) then spent the next night preserving it? either something is off with the way the program is edited or they are incredibly stupid. why would you eat rancid meat, especially when water is in scarce supply and you can't afford to be dehydrated from a stomach bug??!

ilovechristmas1 · 06/05/2015 21:24

thank you all

beanlovesb · 06/05/2015 21:33

how can they not realise how important water is??!
