Anyone else looking forward to this one? After last time I think there a BOys and a Girls island though it is just boys tonight. Roll up roll up anyone who has no idea how to lit a fire or build a shelter whilst knowing they are going on a survival program!

He says "stinks of setup, they put her on there to ensure they survive".

IKnowIAmButWhatAreYou · 30/04/2015 23:01

Very selective editing with the women - lots of "home" shots of them talking about how good they'll be on the island & precious little of them actually doing anything on it.

I agree with Reds hubby - how come they waited 3 weeks before setting traps etc - I reckon someone popped over & showed them how to do it.....

IKnowIAmButWhatAreYou · 30/04/2015 23:03

And why the heck are they all lying on the floor?? The men were the same, I couldn't lay on sand at night, raised bed would be one of the first things I'd have to build for my sanity!

RedToothBrush · 30/04/2015 23:07

By the way. Mora knife £10. Bear's Knife £60.

Nuff said.

Jacana · 30/04/2015 23:18

I wonder, after the alarming trailer to next week, if all the girls have eaten something toxic and come down with food poisoning that needs urgent attention? Sounds grim Shock

Strange all round, both islands. Only a few people in both groups really figure, the men don't seem to have ventured into the interior to look for tame piggies(!) or anything else, the women haven't tried line fishing with the hooks both lots, I think, were provided with have they?

Akire · 30/04/2015 23:26

What if anything is the veggie eating? Even if she was eating a hundred limpets a day hardly nothing!
It's Shame really how messy dirty the island is, just looks like a rubbish dump. Amazing isn't it all lazy people who leave litter on the beach!

I thought the lake the men caught the croc in was in the interior of the island?

Jacana · 01/05/2015 08:23

Sorry, you're right of course iknow

cadno · 01/05/2015 08:58

Are there piggies on the men's island ? - the women seemed to chance upon them very easily.

Jacana · 01/05/2015 09:29

It was the piggies I was thinking of too, cadno when I made my remark upthread. I'd forgotten the croc place. The girls island also seems to have that root veg.stuff, can't remember what it's called-no mention of the men eating that, just coconut, as Ken said. But, happily, the root stuff has come in handy for the veggie to eat, no men veggies are there?Hmm

butterflyballs · 01/05/2015 10:19

The litter on the beach is washed in from the sea, mostly stuff thrown off boats or perhaps, coming from the mainland. It's pretty shocking.

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 01/05/2015 10:31

Very important question from my DD: how are the women staying hair-free on their legs and pits?? Grin

I said they were probably allowed to take razors in so they could carry on looking pretty and getting viewers ...

Ifyourawizardwhydouwearglasses · 01/05/2015 12:11

Im really enjoying this but there's just a bit too much not adding up for me......

unmee · 01/05/2015 12:24

Surely that pig was sedated - just didn't seem very responsive at all. And kept conveniently appearing on the womens' route - how/why? Surely it had a whole island to explore...

I wonder how many pigs the producers have got in stock because little piggies mean there should have been big piggies somewhere, yet no sign of those.

Are they dropping them off sporadically as the women wane - and how do they monitor the womens condition to 'know' it's time to drop off another pig?

The way the two original piglets got thinner indicates it's not a natural environment for pigs.

There's a lot more phoning and interaction between crew and women/men than we're seeing. The women look so much 'heavier' still than the men! How so?

findingmyfeet12 · 01/05/2015 13:40

The woman seem to wait until they are at deaths door before they turn to each new method of hunting. Why not set multiple traps and put out nets for fishing from day one? It's not as though they're busy building beds.

Lauren does look a lot like Kate Middleton.

Jacana · 01/05/2015 14:13

From watching clips from the first island programme, they drop off each day's filming in boxes each day for collection, might give them a clue to their condition? Mind you, pigs have large litters and I think we saw the sow when the two very people friendly piglets followed them? Should be quite a few more around then.

But the littlies were noticeably thinner when they decided to kill them, I noticed that too.

Always wondered if the 'camp' group were told which way to walk along the seashore to meet up with their pals tho, would've been one hell of a trek if they'd walked the other way, and possibly over boulders and rocks too.

All in all, I too am wondering how much help they're actually given.

Love the thought of a pig drop, tho, floating down on cute little parachutes in the middle of the night. A delightful thoughtSmile

Jacana · 01/05/2015 14:15

Oh, and I agree the point that the women haven't had the same weight loss the men have. Just those two little piggies...

unmee · 01/05/2015 14:34

If there was a sow, wouldn't the little piggies be following her for milk? I don't think they ever saw a sow - just editing tricks - or they saw the bigger piglet they killed yesterday - although how it would have stayed hidden for another week.... - and they didn't try to hunt it... they knew they were no pigs there hence they didn't waste their time hunting - until they were told at the film pick up I guess to go pig hunting again.

It's not plausible that the sow would just conveniently deposit the piglets near the women and then wander off to give them a free chance at catching them... and if there's a sow, where's the boar?

If these were native animals then surely the alligators/caymans would have had a go earlier too.

They're being dropped from a boat and the women are tipped off.

When the women were wandering 'lost' you would have expected at least one party to express concern for the condition of the other 'what if they've had an accident?' but they never did and only one party had a phone so the other must have had feedback from the crew on what was happening to prevent panic...

which is fair enough - it's only telly

Apparently these are the cream of 80,000 applicants!

I would like to have seen Vic from the mens island arguing with the two chubby women from 10000BC on C5 - they both came out as fat as they went in - Vic would have eaten them alive!!!

findingmyfeet12 · 01/05/2015 14:35

Good point about the two groups managing to find each other. Seemed a little too good to be true.

I wondered about the women managing to catch the pig but my OH grew up in a country where there were a lot of wild pigs. He said it was pretty easy to catch one just by cornering it or ambushing it.

PennyPinkleton · 03/05/2015 12:23

DH and I were discussing the weight loss and haggard-looking men and until his face got bitten to buggery by sand flies, Dan (oil rigger bearded chap) looked as fresh as day 1 and pretty fine Glad the three that left did, as the remaining guys seem like a nice bunch (now that Vic has had his "moment")

Jacana · 03/05/2015 12:51

Vic(I called him Ken upthreadBlush) is, to me, the clear star of the men so far. He can have as many 'moments' as he likes, for me, as long as he keeps bringing in the food for everyone Grin . I liked the way he organised the others into a bed making team, stressing that they all worked on all the beds, not just their own. The accolades given to him by the others speaks volumes, too.

Mind you, I'd be experimenting making earplugs out of coconut for the times when he goes off on one.Grin

Anyway, what do you think of the pronouncement, made by I can't remember who, "if you're taken off the breast too early it stumps your growth" ???

Akire · 03/05/2015 12:56

The woman who left was annoying pre-island "pain dosnt stop me doing anything" brigade. For someone who lives with chronic pain then it's just because you have not been in enough pain! Low and behold when he back really starts hurting, she left!

OP posts:
Jacana · 03/05/2015 13:40

I predict the men won't be eating any more crocs. Not since the one they caught and ate turned out to be a protected species Grin

Oops, Mr.bear, got that wrong, didn't you, and how much did it cos you in compensation, then?

Jacana · 03/05/2015 13:43

Sorry to hear about your back pain akire chronic pain is an absolute buggerSad

PennyPinkleton · 03/05/2015 13:47

Jacana I think Vic is amazing and they would have struggled without him. He needed to have his "moment" to get rid of all that built-up resentment and now they are a happy camp again (for now!) Grin
