Confused but anyway, we are enjoying the programme!

LaVolcan · 02/03/2015 11:34

So both Dalal and Alice did in the end perjure themselves by saying that the would be assassin said 'British Devil' when he didn't?

The poster who said that there was some connection between Ralph and Adam would appear to have been right.

And what is the hidden mystery in Ralph and Alice's upbringing? I go to bed puzzling over it, which is the sign of a good series IMO.

I think it's portraying the tension between the desire of Indians to be independent against those who throw in their lot with the British very well.

cleanmachine · 02/03/2015 11:38

Its been recommissioned. It's Painfully slow at time but I'm really enjoying it. It's different and the scenery is amazing.

cleanmachine · 02/03/2015 11:42

After last week's episode I thought Ralph might have raped assassins daughter and is adams dad. Adam was disowned at some point.

HoraceCope · 02/03/2015 11:48

i hate how they give so much of the next week's away in the final credits

HoraceCope · 02/03/2015 11:49

ralph is fairly going for it with american woman isnt he?

WONAR · 02/03/2015 17:28

I like that theory cleanmachine, it ties together the story.

yes Horace, and here was me thinking he might be gay!

LaVolcan · 02/03/2015 17:47

Yes, I like cleanmachine's theory too: transfer from Madras, so moved out of the way, and immediate recognition of Adam, perhaps because of recognising a resemblance?

cleanmachine · 02/03/2015 20:35

Ooh I thought Ralph was gay too!

diddl · 02/03/2015 20:51

It was the bracelet that Ralph recognised on Adam, wasn't it?

Are there any characters that anyone likes??

LaVolcan · 03/03/2015 07:19

Oh, I missed the bit about the bracelet, although I thought it strange that Ralph could be curious just by holding Adam's hand for a moment.

HoraceCope · 03/03/2015 07:27

perhaps ralph is adam's father then and the man who shot him was adam's grandfather?

cleanmachine · 03/03/2015 13:01

Sonee is quite likeable and there's something quote nice about afrin although I can't put my finger on it.

Just watched episode 3. Jw is really really grating on me. I don't know why. Just her face and overacting are really spoiling it. It's such a subtle show and she's like a bull in a China shop.

All the dual heritage children are completely Indian looking.

It's incredibly incredibly slow paced at the moment.

SabsFabulous · 08/03/2015 21:31

Is anyone watching tonight?

LaVolcan · 08/03/2015 22:58

I did, but it's a bit slow. I will watch it until it concludes. I'd like to find out the secret of Ralph and Alice.

Weebirdie · 09/03/2015 00:05

Im still trying to track down episode 3.

Davros · 09/03/2015 07:47

We are still watching and enjoying it. WHY are they cultivating the Indian man so much and hasn't he noticed he's the only one treated like this? If it's to keep his mouth shut about the shooting I still don't think he'd be invited to dinner with the Viceroy! Bound to end in tears. Something nasty is going to happen to the nice man who owns the land the Scottish pair were "working"

HoraceCope · 09/03/2015 10:25

i want to carry on watching this, i am determined, but it means missing poldark.
alice fancies the indian man doesnt she, and it seems he likes her too. cant see that ending well.

HoraceCope · 09/03/2015 10:26

agree about the man who owns the land, he didnt kill the drunken uncle but he may be done for it if julie walters has anythign to do wityh it.

cleanmachine · 09/03/2015 15:11

So does Ralph know that afrin took the evidence? Why didn't afrin s gf give the note to his family. Ralph is looking more and more Indian every week.

It's picked up pace now. I'm hooked.

HoraceCope · 09/03/2015 16:30

i think by the time Ralph's gf, Sita, got there, the house was already being searched? and I don't know if Ralph knows. when the men came to tell him, perhaps the one who found it was also indian and divided loyalities

MaybeDoctor · 09/03/2015 20:39

I don't know. While the pace has picked up overall the individual plot strands are all progressing too slowly for my liking. It is also bizarrely complex. I tried to explain the 'raid on the missing evidence' scenario to my DH and even he gave up, whereas with other shows I find that I can give a quick summary and get him orientated.

Ho hum. I will keep watching.

Davros · 09/03/2015 21:38

Isn't that what everyone seems to like about American tv shows? They have lotsoif episodes and take ages for characters and stories to develop? It's not usually for me but this subject and style is much more to my liking

applecatchers36 · 09/03/2015 22:18

Also finding it quite slow with lots of tangential plot lines. Love the gorgeous lush setting, the period, the historical context. Agree JW is annoying/ distracting from rest of the cast. Also don't find any of the main leads that sympathetic but will persevere but so far not as enjoyable as I had hoped.
