What do we think?

JW overacting as normal....

OP posts:
ladybird69 · 09/03/2015 22:43

I'm loving it. The Indian guy was only invited to the viceroys dinner was because they were raiding his room wasn't it. But The last few mins where Ralph was talking to the indian Young man after he knew the certificate had been hidden in his room, his girlfriend was reading the letter and then the Indian guy thought his sister had destroyed it, thought that was very cleverly done. Julie Walters part is very grating but I know an elderly lady who grew up in India and it's her! She's the kinda fixer, she knows everyone and everything and can find things and make things disappear if you know what I mean. A very useful and powerful lady! And yes Ralph must be Adams dad.

Davros · 09/03/2015 23:02

Ah! I thought they were raiding everyone's home. But why did they let Afrin(?) know that raiding was happening and let him go off for a while "feeling unwell"?

diddl · 10/03/2015 19:15

What did happen to the certificate then?

JW's character calling the guy a murdererHmm

Hopefully the young Scottish guy won't be taken in by her.

The ridiculousness of her contempt-bloody live elsewhere then!!

LaVolcan · 15/03/2015 22:03

So those who guessed that Adam was Ralph's son appear to have been right.

MaybeDoctor · 15/03/2015 22:14

I am losing interest now. Or am I wrong and there were any actual plot developments this week?

However, the banquet scene was visually lavish!

AWholeLottaNosy · 15/03/2015 23:08

Finding this very hard to follow and don't care about any of the characters. Sad as the trailers looked great. Still following it as hoping it will make sense at some point...

Davros · 16/03/2015 09:02

We are enjoying it although we strongly suspect that a lot of the behaviour would have been absolutely forbidden and resulted in serious problems. It reminds me of how ludicrous it was in a titanic when jack got invited to dinner in first class. Utter nonsense! But I don't know enough about the Raj at that time to judge how ludicrous are some of the storylines

HoraceCope · 16/03/2015 09:33

the decorations for the banquet were amazing werent they?
Not a lot happens though does it, except for Alice and whatisname getting it on. who was the missionary's wife with, if it was her?

HoraceCope · 16/03/2015 09:34

i am losing out on watching Poldark for this

MaybeDoctor · 16/03/2015 15:39

I think she was doing her duty for the Raj with Mr Viceroy...

Fiderer · 17/03/2015 09:49

I'm enjoying it, don't mind the slow pace and I really like Aafrin's mum and dad.

I'd love to have JW on my side if I were being blackmailed or in trouble. She's a heart of flint but she'd be a good ally. And a terrifying enemy.

HoraceCope · 17/03/2015 09:55

really good blog about it

DarlingDaffodil · 23/03/2015 09:57

Has everyone given up on this?!
I missed last 5 minutes last night so trying to find out what happened.
May seek somewhere with less tumbleweed.....

LaVolcan · 23/03/2015 10:12

No definitely try to catch the last 15 minutes - I was quite shocked at how it ended but I won't say more.

LaVolcan · 23/03/2015 10:13

BTW there is some sort of Channel 4 i-player that you can register with to catch up. That's what I had to do a couple of weeks ago.

DarlingDaffodil · 23/03/2015 10:18

Thanks, I will watch last bit then. Sounds exciting!

HoraceCope · 23/03/2015 11:51

last nights was definitely more exciting. who do you think it was? i thought it was woman from orphanage
how awful

HoraceCope · 23/03/2015 11:51

but why would she steal the dress?

MaybeDoctor · 23/03/2015 15:49

I think she might have been the other chap's wife - the one with the wedding saris.

I missed the beginning, but rapidly named that captain 'Captain Sleazy'. His 'pass' at Alice was quite violent, you could tell that she was hanging on to his hand for dear life to prevent him violating her there and then.

Horrible ending. The woman had the potential to cause harm, but she didn't deserve that.

HoraceCope · 23/03/2015 16:58

But Ralph looked pleased to see her, or was he? surprisingly pleased. Confused, perhaps he was bluffing
perhaps it was Julie Walters

LaVolcan · 23/03/2015 18:32

Possible spoiler alert:

I think our wee Scottish laddie will get the blame, because he's something of an outsider, and was a bit drunk anyway, and not sensible enough to take up the offer of an escort home.

Thought Ralph was the culprit myself.

diddl · 23/03/2015 21:21

I imagine she stole the dress to look nice for Ralph?

i thought that it was the woman who the other chap was supposed to marry.

he was still at his home wasn't he as the Scottish chap waved to him??

I was thinking Ralph, but how did he know that she wouldn't have Adam with her?

Davros · 23/03/2015 22:59

I thought the culprit was the beautiful Indian girl who works at the orphanage, it looked like her eyes they showed and she told Adam that he would not be bothered again by the untouchable mother

diddl · 24/03/2015 10:41

Who knew that she would be there?

it did seem as if it would have been the woman from the orphanage.

JWs character to protect Ralph?

LaVolcan · 24/03/2015 11:34

Well, Ralph knew she would be there. JW's character (Cynthia?) might have got wind of it, and will definitely protect Ralph. Plus there seem to be no end of busybodies snooping around.

Must catch up with it again on 4OD and see if I can tell by looking at the eyes in the last few minutes.
