Mummyreeds - that's tough, really good luck with your claim.

Richtea - I'm not sure, can't see her name on the list. Lisa Eichorn and Vanessa Redgrave were the top billed women.

Continuing the Richard Gere in uniform theme, I always liked An Officer and a Gentleman, as well.

Nickel45 · 18/12/2014 09:09

Just looked on imdb and her mandir Mia Sara, but I don't recognise anything else she's been in. But apparently was married to Jason Connery.
I've not seen Yanks, but based on that pic think I might gonna have a look. How about a remake of an officer and a gentleman too . . . Well those thoughts are really gonna help me concentrate at work today ... not!!

orphan · 18/12/2014 09:27

Thanks nickel. Just looked her up as well and found an article about her with a photo of her aged 45 and she looks the spitting image of a friend of mine! Matthew is slightly more rotund now... I don't think CJ would ever become portly; he'd still be able to fit into his combats in middle age. (Sadly no need for richtea and me to remeasure)

OK final round of shopping followed by mammoth wrapping session and unlike cjwoof, no hope of distraction as I don't have the DVD, but only 7 days to go...!!

icemistOBE · 18/12/2014 09:51

I'm sure annual checks to make sure said combats still fit perfectly Grin

Beingfrank , yes I remember the film now with Vanessa Redgrave . I was thinking of the TV mini series (old version of OG) called We'll Meer Again with susannah York. That's was good too!

orphan · 18/12/2014 10:34

Well if we're doing annual why not takea leaf from the dentist and do six monthly?Grin

icemistOBE · 18/12/2014 10:38

Ooh yes 6 monthly checks would be very beneficial Grin

I'm watching ep smurf is just about to get shot

Oh just remembered another old favourite: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Loved the 'raindrops keep falling on my head' bicycle scene and so sad at the end.

icemistOBE · 18/12/2014 10:47

And youngest has shown me his new skill of switching DVD player on/off Angry

Richtea19 · 18/12/2014 11:12

6 monthly check and what about a "well man" check aka hygienist ?

Love butch Cassidy too, def the music set to these films makes a difference. Midnight Cowboy, Harry Neilson and John Barry composer. Maybe it wasn't just CJ in OG it was the music too? No it was CJ !!!

Ilovelblue · 18/12/2014 11:13

Mummyreeds - I went through a situation about 27 years ago where I had fortunately got another job before I resigned but then said I was putting in for constructive dismissal as my boss was so horrible. Luckily for me, they paid me quite a decent sum of money to go quietly but it was incredibly stressful at the time and I know just what you are going through. Hang in there. Don't put up with any cr*p and think of having CJ alongside you. Be a brave soldier.

Richtea19 · 18/12/2014 11:14

Now I'm thinks John Barry tunes and can't get Born Free out of my mind.... Better than Let it Go.. Doh done it again!!

Richtea19 · 18/12/2014 11:39

Icemist, the photo of Reign on Twitter, do you think that's BAs leather clad knee... Can't function now at the thought of it.
My poor dad is getting fed up with me, "your not on the bloody phone again are you". Mobile app is useless though.

icemistOBE · 18/12/2014 11:47

It was posted by the director, so I'd say yes. He tagged BA in it too... Pity it wasn't from the other side of the table

Just been looking at city breaks to Amsterdam. There appears to be a chain of hotels called "Bastion". Have avoided these just because of the name but wondering whether CJ might pop up in any of them! Haha.

Richtea19 · 18/12/2014 12:49

mummyreeds sorry about all the crap you are going through with work, :(

I have a friend that worked for a building society in the office and she put a personal card through thr franking machine, and a colleague saw her and reported her. She was dismissed on grounds of "grand theft". It was for 42p. She lost her job and now really hard to find another one in the same field. I know what she did was wrong, but I thought it was rather harsh, she was on an old contract and personally I think the comoany wanted to save money.

ilove lucky you, Amsterdam and Bailbrook House!!!!

Dad duties done for the day, and now off to have my grey roots touched up!!

orphan · 18/12/2014 13:04

richtea your typo was rather apt - 'comoany'! That dismissal sounds so ludicrous - 'grand theft'?!

A good soundtrack to films really does make a massive difference. Don't know if you've seen 'into the wild' about the man who goes to live in the wilderness and (spoiler) dies, but the soundtrack haunted me for weeks.

On a more serious note, I wonder if BA has been a good boy this year and will get something in his (manly) stocking?

Nickel45 · 18/12/2014 13:09

Oh no, I don't have twitter, what picture??? Smile

I do love the scene in Ep 3 when Molly is going on r'n'r - the looks, the deep breaths... and then when Candy gives Smurf the big hug, that makes me a bit teary

OP posts:
pixieg1rl · 18/12/2014 13:35

The Candy stuff makes me very treary, before I was a mother it wouldn't bother me.

A few months ago there was a piece on PM (radio 4) about organ donation. A woman was talking about meeting the recipient of her son's heart. She asked if she could listen to her son's heart beating. I still cry just thinking about it. Before I had a child I wouldn't have given much thought.

Nickel45 · 18/12/2014 13:53

Thank you icemist. More black leather Xmas Smile.

I was thinking the other day, that it was a shame that they didn't get all the dates sorted out in the series, cos the boys would have been in Afghan over Christmas, and could have put on a panto, that would have been brilliant! Right, will stop thinking about operation bulge and get back to work now!

Richtea19 · 18/12/2014 14:00

Pixie that is so sad and very emotional. It makes you feel very grateful for what you have.

I love Ep3 Molly going on R&R, the deep intake of breath. That could be another piece of FF, CJs thoughts when molly leaves with smurf. I can never decide what is my favourite scene. I'm in the hairdressers and they are talking about the last episode of The Missing and one lady said she thought that the last episode should or been two.... In launches me.... Oh that's just like Our Girl, that was rushed too. Blank faces, oh I didn't watch that. Who are these women????!!!!!

icemistOBE · 18/12/2014 14:02

Noticed another continuity error! In ep 3 when leaving the FOB Molly has her chin guard off, then on and off again when she's walking to the truck. Distracted me totally from lusting watching CJ

OP posts:
cjwoofwoof · 18/12/2014 14:15

I'm just back from my R&R after the stress of multi-tasking yesterday ie. Present wrapping whilst commentating on here on Ep1-3 of OG, only to discover I've missed pages of chat and a piece of ff I could've re-enacted written every day for the past two months!! Coo, what a scorcher, hope there's more chapters to come. I've only just realized my uniform obsession has actually been lingering for a lot longer than I thought coz my two most favourite films from my teens were Yanks and Officer and a Gentleman. I used to love the young Richard Gere before he found Buddha and got up his own arse. Nothing like my obsession admiration for CJ, however.
