I wasnt going to watch Musketeers, but think I might just gonna have to now! Just googled Santiago thingy, and he was in Merlin too ... Which I really liked! Well, I liked the guy who played Arthur, but he is very young ... Hmm ... Just checked him out on idmb and he is 2 years older than BA .... Oh dear! Anyway, don't need to go there!

So, resolutions, think I will have to get back only OG diet. I also haven't even opened my DVD or played my CDs, as no time to myself, but once the kids are back at school... :) I did briefly consider adding "doing some exercise" onto my list, but thats never going to happen ... I did think once my youngest was at school I'd have more time to myself, but it hasn't worked out like that. But I think I will try and make sure that I get out on a decent walk once a week (you gotta start somewhere!), even if its only walking somewhere instead of taking the car.

Given Molly and CJ would have been somewhere between ep 1 and 3, I reckon CJ might have resolved not to get emotionally involved with Molly, and Molly would have resolved to think before she opened her gob? Maybe?!

Welcome onlygirl :)

cjwoofwoof · 30/12/2014 21:41

Oh nice pic Cherin no comparison to those Paul Newman eyes in his heyday, although Robert Redford runs a v.close second. CJ is their brown-eyed equivalent in the 21st century! Mmm yes Santiago thingy does indeed have an uncanny resemblance; maybe in modern day combats the look would be even closer?

Rhubarb01 · 30/12/2014 21:48

Ooh nice pic cherin. And the best blue eyes in the business - sorry Frank!

Now as for Robert Redford - yes to including him in his younger days. Ages ago you were talking about films and I was too busy to contribute but I do have to confess that for some reason I love 'The Way We Were' and I always cry at the end without fail. Perhaps its the song. I do always struggle to believe that RR is supposed to be about 20 at the beginning because he does look about 35 but the sight of him in his White Naval uniform is a treat and I just find it all so wistful when poor old Barbara (Katie) is in love with him and he's drunk and doesn't know who she is!

Someone mentioned 'Yanks' as well and that got me reminiscing about a picture that appeared in 'Blue Jeans' magazine of Richard Gere telling us to look out for him. I really wanted to see that film but I was too young and I had to wait for it to come on television years later! I did see An Officer and a Gentleman when it came out though. I suppose that makes up for it.

OK showing my age and taking a long belated trip down memory lane! Back to looking forward to The Musketeers!

Hi everyone, am finally getting a chance to check in for the first time in about a week. Been a bit of a strange Xmas this year as either working or on call. Luckily managed to secure Xmas eve and day off so got to see DS being amazed by everything Santa bought him, so I guess that makes up for the time I couldn't be here.

Haven't been to the sales at all as been at work, probably not a bad thing as I usually end up with copious amounts of crapbargains that I don't really need. Have done lots of clothes shopping online for DS though as I ALWAYS buy in the next size up for next year and just hope and pray he doesn't have a sudden massive growth spurt!

On the Stag front, I may have mentioned that I've always been partial to a Stag anyway (we live near to Petworth Park which is well known for it's deer population and Stag rutting season has always been a favourite for our family to go and watch). So looking around the room at the moment, I have several Stag Xmas decs from previous years and a new addition of a lovely Stag cushion which DH bought for Xmas -which incidentally earned him a bigger hug than the rather expensive perfume he apparently took ages over. Not sure he appreciated my "the cushion would have been just fine" remark!

No stag PJ's or jumpers but our local Sainsburys has a tonne of reduced Stag pants!

Must remember to post a pic of my beautiful mug. It's getting a lot of female attention at work Wink. It's the one of CJ with the words "I'm not a fully functioning soldier until I've had my first shot of coffee in the morning". It's been one of my favourite CJ'isms at work! And yes, I have been caught on more than one occasion giving my mug a kiss.....once in front of my Boss Blush

stressybird · 30/12/2014 22:12

Oops sorry, not sure how I managed to post twice. Ignore at least one entire post (if not half of the other - I do tend to go on a bit!)

Richtea19 · 30/12/2014 22:15

Welcome, welcome all newbies. cherin love the photo.. And The Way We Were with Robert Redford, is a favourite of mine. Good old Hubble!

I didn't watch the musketeers first time round because I thought it was a bit Tea Time, however if they are upping the game this time, I might tune in!

Not only am I going to attempt Ikea in two days, I have just completed Lord of the Rings Trilogy in three days! Does that deserve a medal. Viggo the Rasin survives!!!

Ilovelblue · 30/12/2014 22:38

Hi all. Not had much chance to check in today as I went to sit with my friend whose Mum died yesterday until her sister could get here. Not the most uplifting of days as you can imagine. When I got home, I needed light relief so sat with coffee and toast watching my favourite bits of OG/CJ to try and forget all I'd had to deal with earlier in the day. (My friend had totally gone to pieces and seemed to see me as some sort of expert in these matters). The DVD didn't work its magic completely but I did feel better afterwards. CJ should be available on the NHS as a universal panacea.

Welcome to lurker onlygirljen. Still amazed that there are newcomers out there - we must be doing something right. We may seem mad but in RL, we hold down responsible jobs and are kind to children and animals and older people too!

icemist - have I missed something? You mentioned to our earlier newcomer mikki about being blocked for liking a photo? Was this on Twitter?

The ff is coming thick and fast at the moment. Maybe people have more time over the Christmas holidays. One of them is Dear Diary by greenstuff2 and it's not too dissimilar to my part of the four-parter we are doing (and waiting for somebody to take on Smurf's POV). I might have to go in and change it a bit - don't want to be accused of plagiarism!

Reading all the ff though, I get so mixed up. I mean, we have Molly and Charles in a happy ever after scenario; not seeing each other for five years and she has a four year old son (and Charles is clearly the father); she has twins in another story; lives in the Lake District; is taken hostage by the Taliban; enjoys mind-blowing sex........... where will it end?!

Off to bed now. It has definitely been a long day.

Good luck to anyone who is working tomorrow.

xx

Ilovelblue · 30/12/2014 22:41

Oh sorry, I am always doing this and forgetting something. I had to take the cat to the vet tonight for his cat flu injection and was hanging around at the end as the receptionists worked out the bill (computers were down). I realised they were the BBC's OG target audience, being around 25 or so and decided to mention OG very nonchalantly "been watching a DVD this afternoon, I feel quite decadent. Don't suppose you watched............?" Blank looks all round. Have come to expect it now though really.

Nickel45 · 30/12/2014 23:20

I agree re the ff, its very confusing! I reckon it's easier to stick with the best QS ones ones you like the best! I read most of them, but find I just go back to the same ones. It is funny how many people have written in Kinders interrupting Molly and CJ though, makes me laugh, poor Eggy!!! And there's only one zombie one ... Which is completely different from the rest!!! mikki and onlygirl give it a read, if you've not before .... Wink!

ilove, but wouldn't worry too much about changing what you wrote, I'd just go with what you thought. Sorry you've had a crap day today, but if is any consolation I bet your friend appreciated it more than she could say x

Nickel45 · 30/12/2014 23:23

Nearly forgot, saw this mag in Sainsburys, make your own stag kit ... Still trying to decide if £4.99 is too much to pay for a cardboard stag .... Not bought it yet!!,

cjwoofwoof · 30/12/2014 23:36

You can't beat full headset and combats pic before bed, thanks Nickel

orphan · 31/12/2014 00:54

Yay, another recruit! Welcome, onlygirl.

Might have to watch the Musketeers if there's chance of quality cutlass action. And as cjwoof points out, there's still room in front of the fire for additional wrestlers. Just watched the last Homeland and kept picturing Rupert Friend in firelit action. He's a man of few words but lethal moves.Wink

richtea I'm mega impressed you've watched all three LOTR films so quickly. We've still got 2 to go. Of course, watching them is emotionally traumatic for me as I have to deal with the guilt of wishing The Raisin was CJ. (Plus my son pointed out that Viggo has quite a high pitched voice at times.)

icemistOBE · 31/12/2014 06:53

Morning
Work again but finish at 3 and then not back in till next Wednesday.
Might finally get to watch some OG on friday. Cannot wait
Anyone doing anything exciting tonight?

I might be still swearing at the weather around midnight, finding my way home....with clear perfect timing, we are supposed to fly out of here at 1pm and it started snowing. Not too strong, and this airport is better than the average London one in white conditions, but I can still forecast delays....grrrr...

Onlygirljen · 31/12/2014 08:58

Morning all! Day off here, dropping the little bleeders at mother in laws for the morning so that I can read ff and watch episodes get some housework and ironing done! Boring! Have a good day everyone!

Nickel45 · 31/12/2014 10:15

cherin hope you get home ok and quickly

I'm at the cinema at the moment about to watch Paddington! Think I'll probably fall asleep, so tired! Started watching bluestone 42 last night, really liked it! worth a watch if you've not seen it (all the episodes are on YouTube). Another late night and early morning! Must try to stay awake till midnight! Have a good day all.

apsara03 · 31/12/2014 10:15

Hope you get home safely and without delays cherin
Nothing exciting planned here . my parents who for the whole time I was growing up never went out on NYE now go to a thing at their local so no babysitters for us. Sometimes we've done an early evening thing with families but not this year. Tbh DS1 has been waking so early I doubt we'll stay up Sad not that bothered really had some good night's out recently and will probably drink my way through a bottle of prosecco at home Sad

Ilovelblue · 31/12/2014 10:33

Morning all! I have visitors again tonight - sure folk see me as a local restaurant. Fortunately, they went so far as to request a cottage pie which they love. Can't see mine is any different to anyone else's but at least it's easy and can be done in advance.

I loved Paddington Nickel when I took my nephew last week and it wasn't too long. What I dislike about the cinema these days is how loud it always is - sign of old age I guess. It's an expensive way to grab a snooze though...!!

apsara03 · 31/12/2014 11:38

The last dace should have been Smile

Richtea19 · 31/12/2014 12:35

cherin I hope you get home safe and sound without delays.

We are off to some friends for dinner and we stay over. Im doing the starter, Bloody Mary Soup, with a Vodka salsa. I think she is doing a thai fish curry. Normally my eldest goes to one of his friend, but this year it's all of us. last year the adults went to bed before the children!

All a bit nightmarish. Both my sons are arguing so much at the moment. Maybe it's their ages or what I suspect it's the bloody Xbox. It has a lot to answer for. I am sure if we had two both connected to live accounts they would be fine! They seem to have lost the ability to share. It's terrible but I'm actually looking forward to them going back to school and the xbox goes back to weekend only.

So tonight could go either way, they could be friends and all ok, or not.....

I'm not a great fan of new year, never have been, and I would be more than happy to sit in at home, watching OG and making midnight 10.30!

apsara03 · 31/12/2014 12:46

Another chapter of involved Smile

Rhubarb01 · 31/12/2014 13:05

Afternoon all!

Nothing different happening here for New Year as per usual. The kids always stay up for midnight now so I end up trying to get them all to do Auld Lang Syne and end up performing it on my own without the benefit of any alcoholic lubrication as I don't drink very much - small exception for Christmas, though. We usually end up watching Jools Holland's Hootenanny which has grown on me over the years.

It is however, the best free firework display of the year, though. I do always enjoy the all the noise, cheering, saucepan banging etc that descends on an otherwise quiet residential area the rest of the year. Proof that people do actually exist around here. There is something wonderful about opening your front door at midnight and just hearing all this noise complete with firework display. So I suppose I will settle for that.

If I don't manage to post again before midnight I will take this opportunity to wish all of you a very Happy, healthy and hopefully prosperous 2015!

cjwoofwoof · 31/12/2014 13:29

V.quiet New Year at Woof Manor too. DH working today so will be asleep in chair by 8.30pm, hopefully meaning I can finally squeeze in a bit of Ep 5 restaurant aaah how I've missed it.

Icemist those pics this morning were the nuts. Think I'm gonna adore him right into 2015 now, sigh.

Have a good un everyone just in case I need a rub down with a damp sponge after the latest Involved ff and don't come back to you in time Grin

Onlygirljen · 31/12/2014 13:52

In the interests of full disclosure, I should probably confess that I wrote (have been writing) involved BlushBlush...

Please don't judge me! I'm not a complete randy sex pest hormonal maniac, just have a bit of an over active imagination at times!! First time I have written anything fictional and it's taken me my complete surprise if I'm honest.

Phew, confession over with! Grin
