Last (I keep telling myself) push on presents today. Keep having to buy one more to even the numbers up...!

Books: I read indiscriminately across the genres! But I also recommend like richtea i am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes (I think) as a gripping page turner that is crying out to be made into a film. I love a good crime /psychological novel and have read all the Frieda Klein series by Nicci French. Also the Lacey (!) Turner crime series by Sharon Bolton are brill with gorgeous policeman as a bonus. Completely different are the Katharine McMahon novels. Historical but great strong female characters.

I'm at church early this morning for the kids to get ready for their nativity and the preacher (who is younger than me) is wearing a stag jumper (if probably thinks it's a reindeer, but it definitely looks more like a stag!). How am I supposed to concentrate on churchy things now?!?!
Good luck shopping today. After church I have my brother in law coming over, so I think another long walk to wear the kids out is needed!

Ilovelblue · 21/12/2014 09:22

apsara sorry, forgot to mention but if you are around the West End, I think a card to BA from us all would be a lovely and festive gesture. Do you think you could find one with a stag on?

Richtea19 · 21/12/2014 09:32

We are having breakfast and then will head into town for a bit of shopping before meeting up with friends again for lunch!
Orphan absolutely right about making I am Pilgrim into a film. That was his first book, I really hope he write more.
I am now thinking back (now I'm sober) on my ramblings last night to my friend about CJ! Almost hope she forgets when we meet up later!

Nickel45 · 21/12/2014 09:32

New zombie chapter. SPO were you up all night finishing that? Wink

elsie3g · 21/12/2014 09:34

Morning all! SPO's been at it again...

m.fanfiction.net/s/10865022/11/

Right off to make a cuppa and leave the kids in front of Muppet's Christmas Carol so I can enjoy it in relative peace.

elsie3g · 21/12/2014 09:35

Cross post nickel. Enjoy!

icemistOBE · 21/12/2014 09:36

Ooh fab idea! Why didn't we think of that earlier!!!!

ilove Wouldn't have wanted to alarm CJ unduly, so yes, would have sauntered into the restaurant with the tiny clutch, but secretly have left with reception the enormous suitcase with all my belongings in, ready to move straight in with him!!

Ilovelblue · 21/12/2014 09:41

orphan - love it!! Fortunately for me, I rarely have such a small bag anyway. It's normal for me to have a big bag. I think my black Mulberry bag (present to myself last Christmas) would have done the job admirably. Will be taking the Mulberry bag to Bailbrook House I am sure though definitely no need for a sneaky change of underwear that evening!

Richtea19 · 21/12/2014 09:43

I would of had to have a massive bag for my date with CJ, to include all necessaries. Full make up bag for retouching, deo, perfume.. Etc. but perhaps like Orphan ditch the big bag in reception and wip out a stylish clutch.

Zombie FF yes!

cherin · 21/12/2014 09:43

New ZombieFF!! :-)))
Makes for a funny laugh, in this busy morning! SPO managed to wave in last night dancing frenzy, I think (so was it the X factor? Whatever!)

Nickel45 · 21/12/2014 09:45

Good plan orphan, Molly obviously just wasn't as organised as us lot!! (Comes with being a mum I suspect, prepared for any and every eventuality, if my bag is anything to go by!).

Brilliant chapter SPO, loved it Smile, makes me laugh out loud every time!!

orphan · 21/12/2014 09:47

Crikey spo you clearly like to write to the wire don't you, managing to include the latest breaking news!Smile

Ilovelblue · 21/12/2014 09:51

It probably was nothing to do with MD/LT about the clutch bag, bet it was more down to the wardrobe assistant. They wanted her to look glamorous (which she did) with no regard to the practicalities. RL just isn't like that.

icemistOBE · 21/12/2014 09:55

The old Molly would have had only the clutch bag the new Molly would have left her Bergen at the reception full to bursting of everything she might need

If you're reading this SPO brilliant new chapter, I love the strictly reference!

Nickel45 · 21/12/2014 10:15

Just catching up intermittently while supposed to be watching kids rehearsing.
Good idea about card apsara if your passing :)
richtea hope your friend is either very forgetful or wants to know more about CJ, a perfect excuse to talk about him non stop and re watch everything ;)

Nickel45 · 21/12/2014 12:28

Going to local service station for lunch (such a glamorous life, but only nandos nearby!), wonder if BA will stop here on his way to Devon?!?!?

Ilovelblue · 21/12/2014 14:24

Well Richtea how did your friend react this morning to your confessions about CJ/BA?

I've had a very energetic morning, not in the slightest bit Christmassy. Since my shoulder procedure recently, I've not really dared do any gardening but thought I would try it out today. Everything seems to be working as it should! I decided to dig out the compost heap. CJ was with me all the way of course. I couldn't decide whether he was going to be CJ in combats or CJ in checked shirt. In the end, he was in combats to start with (and shouting "Dig in" which was most appropriate I thought) but then later, he was in his gardening checked shirt. A very ploeasant couple of hours! I need to get out more I think.

Off to see my two young nephews for some Christmas spirit now. They are both young and still believe in Father Christmas. They're really cute.

What is everyone up to today? Last minute shopping maybe?

Ilovelblue · 21/12/2014 14:29

Ooops, pleasant, not ploeasant!

Richtea19 · 21/12/2014 15:00

On our way home after a lovely weekend which felt really Christmassy. Nothing was mentioned about my confession of BA/CJ the night before until we started talking about books we are reading! I mentioned that I haven't read for a while because of OG and wanted to talk about FF, but decided against it!!! Safer to keep quiet.

Nickel, sounds lovely going to your local church for a nativity, I tried to get the boy to come into the cathedral to listen to carols, but they didn't want to :(

Back to sort out washing and hopefully put my feet up with yet another glass of wine!

icemistOBE · 21/12/2014 15:41

Home from shopping got everything and if I haven't that's tough as I'm working now to finish Christmas Eve.
Hubby is taking 5yo on tram to airport to meet my mum and sister. I am celebrating this by watching my fave bits of ep 4 and 5 if littlest will leave DVD player alone!

I knew I should have saved the episodes on the TiVo box!!!

Richtea19 · 21/12/2014 16:32

icemist I'm the same in terms of present shopping. I'm done, Father Christmas is done, no more! Food and Turkey collection but other than that sorted.

We are home, boys on the XBox, they had withdrawals for two days! I'm in PJs, candles lit and will catch up on strictly. DH has to go to work this evening, but actually that's rather good as I can watch what I like, or play OG and not get raised eyebrows!

Nickel45 · 21/12/2014 16:35

We had a lovely afternoon too. Except me and the kids got soaked .... if we had have been zombies, we'd have been sorted! First littlie managed to tip her entire cup of icy juice all over me (had stupidly given her a grown up glass which she had filled to the brim), then out walking she found a massive puddle to launch herself in to, followed by DS deciding to jump (or not!) the river we needed to cross! Hey ho, all home now, I'm sure the freezing temperature will have killed any germs!!
Off to a proper grown up carol service this evening with a good friend of mine. Might give me a good dose of Christmas spirit!!
