I too, haven't a scooby what you are talking about, but glad you won, ilove :)
Just wondering what all your party guests were thinking about you typing on here ... Did you tell them who you were talking too?
(I agree banket, that one from eastenders was the only one I recognised!!! My DS was interested briefly at the beginning cos some guy we met once, Steve something, was on it?!)

Ilovelblue · 20/12/2014 22:33

Sorry ladies, I hijacked the thread for a non-CJ related topic. However, one of my party admitted that she had a "thing" for Steve Backshallfrom Strictly - apparently she obsessed about his chest. She also knew that I was rather fond of OG/CJ but had never watched it herself. One other person admitted she had fancied Thom Evans so fuelled with a little too much wine, I happened to switch on the DVD and asked them to admire CJ in the paddling pool. It didn't quite gain the reaction I had hoped for. The Steve Backshall fan said "too bony, you couldn't fall asleep on that shoulder" but I said I would be willing to give it a try.

We are all around the same age and agreed that it was hormonal lusting driving us on.

When I was typing on my laptop, they thought I was checking the odds on the William Hill website!

cherin · 20/12/2014 22:35

Then your reputation is safe: you are greedy but not hormonally insane :-))))
(Just kidding)

pixieg1rl · 20/12/2014 22:39

Many years ago I had a very muscular friend (pro rugby player muscly). I fell asleep on him (it was a platonic friendship, I swear) and he made a very uncomfortable pillow. Like sleeping on a warm rock.

Nickel45 · 20/12/2014 22:44

Too bony?! Just fall asleep on his chest then?!?!!! Wouldn't have thought that was a problem!

Steve back shall, that's the one, sorta met him once very briefly at a scout thing, wasn't that impressed!! (probably a really nice guy, but looks wise, mah! and he was with bear grylls, so not really any competition!)

Nickel45 · 20/12/2014 22:47

Just going to have to check paddling pool scene now to assess boniness (is that even a word?!)

elsie3g · 20/12/2014 22:47

i don't think i'd have any issues with the BA comfort/tog rating.

Ilovelblue · 20/12/2014 22:51

I certainly wouldn't have any problem either. I also showed them the picture on my phone background (as I said, a bit too much wine and high on my Strictly bet success) but they all did agree he was very handsome. The Steve Backshall chest fan said she hadn't watched it because she'd seen Lacey Turner in East Enders and it put her off.

Nickel45 · 20/12/2014 22:55

I could fall asleep on that shoulder!
(Thought I'd go back to one of cherin's stags too, just to check - hope you don't mind me re-posting cherin)

cjwoofwoof · 20/12/2014 23:00

Hi all, just checking in now I've finally wrestled the iPad from my kids. Have to say if I was that close to CJ I would not be resting my head anywhere near his shoulder.

Highlight of my day was reading in the paper that the Three Musketeers is coming back for second series soon. A total ham fest in the acting/storyline department, but D'Artagnan is hot, hot, hot, complete with thigh boots and cutlass, galloping on his horse. Wouldn't mind getting stuck in a lift with the other Musketeers either come to that. If the BBC can recommission total cr*p like this there must be hope for OG surely?

apsara03 · 20/12/2014 23:08

Ditto to the shoulder. Looks perfectly comfortable to me. Back now from night out with people from gym so as I have TV to myself, settling down to episode 1 Smile
Am taking DS2 to west end on Tues to see Charlie and choc factory. Am guessing agents office is probably in theatre land? maybe I could drop off an Xmas cars from us all? .
Might gonna have to take a detour as well as one via regent St to go to nespresso shop

cjwoofwoof · 20/12/2014 23:08

Ooh Nickel if that's bony then I'm in need of laser eye treatment. Totally lush. Of course, compared to Crixus on Spartacus CJ is slightly on the lean side, but hey, I'd still make breakfast for either of them. Feeling a bit trans-continental tonight; French musketeers, Roman Gladiators, English Captains...

cjwoofwoof · 20/12/2014 23:18

Forget the shoulders, what about that six-pack and belt action going on? Was your Steve Backshall friend blind, Ilove?!!!!

Ilovelblue · 20/12/2014 23:24

Haha cjwoof. My friend was - how should I put this - a bit of a rum 'un in her younger days. She went out with a soldier for a couple of years. I think he was a warrant officer. He was horrible - all the bad things you can think of - drank too much, would think with his fists given the opportunity etc etc. I am assuming that has put her off the army for life, even in fiction.

She and I certainly have different tastes in men! He's perhaps a bit too posh for her as well (but not for me!)

cjwoofwoof · 20/12/2014 23:37

You can't beat a bit of posh male totty Ilove, esp one with eyes, lips and jawline like that!!! But understandable if she's had a bad experience I suppose.

Nickel45 · 20/12/2014 23:45

DS woken with sore throat, bless, so going to have to get him back to sleep now ... in my bed! Of course!

mooj haven't forgotten you wanted to know what books we're reading, but I have to dig them out from the pile of stuff beside my bed ... Been a while. But I bought a couple of Debbie Macomber ones from the charity shop today, and I think I was reading a Jill Mansell one ... Her men are very reminiscent of CJ! Very easy reading, both, I can't concentrate on anything too complicated when I seem to only get five minutes at a time to read. I laughingly belong to a book club (just the mums from school), and the only book I have actually manage to read in time was Gone Girl, and that was only because we had to skip two "meetings". Can't remember what the story was now, and I wouldn't read it again, but I think it just wasn't my cuppa tea!

Nickel45 · 20/12/2014 23:47

Ditto cjwoof :)

cjwoofwoof · 21/12/2014 00:05

Just watched the restaurant scene before bed - gets me every time. Those pleading, playful eyes and that "look" when he asks if he's succeeded in getting Molly back to his house. Bet she wasn't worrying about his bony shoulders at that point. CJ is not good for your hot flushes, palpitations, vivid imagination health this time of night. Might gonna need to watch Whatta man video now!

Richtea19 · 21/12/2014 00:20

We are just back to hotel after lovely meal with friends, and after a few proseccos... I came clean about my OG obsession. DH raised eyebrows and passed it on as mid life crisis, charming! Actually one of girls was really interested and not at all condescending. She was raving on about Jamie Dornan from the fall. I showed her a picture of BA, in combats and she was very taken by him. I told her about my trip to MD house and the football ground, meeting a stranger!! And the carols. She was brilliant abs said good for you. She is the first person that didn't think I was odd. They are also staying at the same hotel and our DH's are in the hotel bar, I did offer her to watch the videos as I have them on my iPad,think that was a bit to far!

Sounds like you had a good eve ilove and so glad you won your bet. I will catch up tomorrow.

I have to say the chest for me is perfect, everything is perfect. I wouldn't change a thing. I could lay my head on his chest, his abs, or his bulge!!!

Just one other thing, when I divulged the OG to my friend (she is a bit younger than me) and I told her that all of this has made me feel younger and more alive, she said you look it! So it's offical being obsessive over a fictional character is good for your looks!!!

Night all x x

Richtea19 · 21/12/2014 00:51

Books that I am meant to be reading, I can never remember the authors or the titles, sometimes I can be a third into the book and realise I have read before. I am reading a Millennium Trilogy, Larson type book, Scandinavian murder mystery, good but hard work. I have a Lee Childs one I haven't started yet. And one that I dip into every now and then, Alison Weir? The Princes in the Tower. I love history books!
My recommendation is I Am Pilgrim, can't remember who wrote it, but I was gripped. However not a chance of reading anything at the moment, I'm too involved with you on here.

apsara03 · 21/12/2014 08:01

Books -love reading but little enough time before OG I think someone has already mentioned gone girl? Most of what I do read is for book club with a group of mum's I met at post natal group -now .ore a way to stay in touch now kids at different schools. I really like Maggie O'farrell and the house at riverton -there's a couple by her and the husband's secret -that I was us by an Australian novelist. I really like novels as a whole If learning about history and different cultures. Half of a yellow sun set during the biafran Conflict is amazing and also very different the Kwami books -she who remembers about a young native American girl pre colonisation.
All I seem to read now is thread's and fan fic -zombies and QS ,Grin

Morning all. Apologies to any non-Strictly fans when I got carried away with my bet and winnings last night!

My friend's comments re CJ's shoulders certainly got some response!

Books - well, apart from the fact I haven't been reading at all lately, I'm a big fan at the moment of Santa Montefiore and have two by the side of the bed. I do tend to like romantic ones but not just light and fluffy chick lit types. I usually have a couple of travel ones lying around as well. I really need to get back into a routine over Christmas, but this thread is just sooooooooo addictive!

cjwoof the restaurant scene gets me every time too. When I did the last part of the ff "Those Words We Wanted To Hear", it made me think about what I would have packed in my handbag. It wasn't really in keeping with the tone of my writing but in RL, I wouldn't have had a tiny little clutch bag. I would have needed something slightly bigger and would have at least had a toothbrush and a spare pair of knickers in there (maybe not our lovely stag pants, may have gone for something less substantial). You wouldn't have left it all to chance, would you?
