SCD 2014 #5: It's the final!

Following on from thread 4.

Last lap now everybody!

First time a couple have been against each other in the final I think. Fun dinnertimes this week in the Clifton-Hauer household I would imagine.

I'm vaguely hoping for a Caroline - Frankie/Simon - Mark result, although, other than Mark last I'm not too fussed really.

Loved Tom Chambers show dance. I remember thinking that he had it in the bag at that point.

I had to watch it to check it was correct -wow! I had forgotten how good it was for a male celebrity (in my untrained mind) and gratuitous snippets of Matthew Cutler too.
When I have a spare afternoon I'll keep watching all the old clips (the down side is that they come with Bruce and Tess)

We haven't had many floats this year have we? Erin has them for pretty much every ballroom dance I could see there.

No, their was a bit different (I actually liked it, and thought it was very clever) and the judges hated it.

Darren and Lilia won, which was ok, but he wasn't as good. They did do my favourite ever a few years later though.

Thanks Polka That was interesting but surely they'd already shown Colin dancing on his own in the cha cha, charleston, etc? I can see both sides but the puppets did look cheap and weird to me.

They didn't do charleston then, and I think a lot of the Latin was more syllabus and in hold style steps. They might have been criticised for that one week - hence the idea of the show dance, but it was so long ago I can't really remember!

I think this is why I had the impression she was short!

Ref. Zoe's dress I reckon it's because it's the last week! Anyone see Karen [the critic] yesterday she said exactly what I thought about Caroline's VW? or was it foxtrot? it was not good but she was sooo over marked .

On ITT, Karen Hardy said that Caroline's feet were wrong quite a lot of the time, which is why her top line went funny, but she puts on such a good performance that she managed to cover it up pretty well.

So why on earth do the judges give 4 10s if she isn't right? It's so confusing!

I don't think a 10 means "professional level perfect"

I think the standard is lower this year, either that or it was high last year.

It's funny - I was watching some of the old dances (series three/four) and the scores were much lower, but the dancing much better!

Karen Hardy was talking about Caroline's Foxtrot when she said that. She agreed with the four 10s for her salsa, I think.

I think I watched less than half of 2012 and all of 2013 so I've not got a lot to judge it on (including absolutely no dance knowledge!) but last week's standard seemed dreadful for a semi final.
