Strictly Come Dancing - too uncool?

I absolutely love this show and it just gets better every series. But I rarely admit to it in public and none of my friends watch it - they all watch X factor - which I love too but not as much. So would love to hear from anyone who loves it as much as me!

Who do we want to go tonight?
I don't like Carol Smillie but have to admit she is definatly not the worst dancer.I love Mark and Louisa.Claire and Brendan are very entertaining but I think they will go!

Pann · 25/11/2006 19:25

yeep, I think Claire has given up already!!

It is sooo competitive, hence Carol trying to deny she said there were favourites..when the entire nation heard her say.."There are some people...."

Ramps in looking tres cool, and Louisa too.

It'll be Claire and Matt in the drop zone, with....Claire going..(shame)

Idon't like Matt either, does he remind anyone else of a Royal?

tribpot · 25/11/2006 19:58

Gotta be Clare. Didn't like Matt's (Lilia's) choice of song for a jive, not really up tempo enough.

So pleased Mark and Karen are back at the top of the leader board, yay.

Pann · 25/11/2006 19:58

Matt - yeah see that! He is a little like Carol to me - just not very likeable.....

last year after Lilia won it with Darren Gough I saw her and Darren B. dance an exhibition in a small hall near me. IN the flesh it was even more spectacular! She was twisting and spinning right in front of us - what she can't do with her back doesn't ever need doing. She is also simply drop dead........

trying2bgood · 25/11/2006 21:11

Mark and Karen were great - yay! And so was Louisa and Emma, I think it will be these three in the final with Claire leaving tonight. Shame as I think Claire is really entertaining but her dancing is not as good. But she is such a trooper - in fact they all are!

PeachesMcLean · 25/11/2006 21:16

Claire's got to go. Dreadful.
However, I'm currently watching it for the second time as my husband video'd it earlier - he was out watching the rugby and drinking beer with his mates but couldn't bear to miss it. He's just been furious that Emma did three lifts in the American Smooth and he thinks they're only allowed two. This is getting weirder...

nikkie · 25/11/2006 21:22

Sure somone did get told off for that before actually Peachy, was it Brendan? or that they did 2 and were allowed 3?

WestCountryLass · 25/11/2006 21:53

Oooooo, check out Brendan, he looked like the cat that got the cream as he rubbed himself up against Cheryl Cole!!!

nikkie · 25/11/2006 22:06

Oh he is definatly growing on me

nikkie · 25/11/2006 22:08

Weren't those kids cute-wish I'd taped it for dd1 she'd love to do that!

multitasker · 25/11/2006 22:19

How awful were Girls Aloud - I can't stand these groups who sing covers and not even live. Am just a bit peeved as I love watching the pro dancers in the results show. Glad Claire went, much as I like Carol I think she will go next, though I never warmed to Matt. Glad to see Karen not slobbering all over Mark this week - it gets a bit embarrassing - his wife is in the audience fgs!! Love Vincent - am assuming he has tongue firmly in cheek when he talks about himself?
Tess - still not impressed with the dresses.....

nikkie · 25/11/2006 22:23

Think that dress was the worst yet!

Fattymumma · 25/11/2006 22:28

is clare really 63??

im sure i have seen it somewhere, if its true she looks amazing

multitasker · 25/11/2006 22:30

She must be in her mid 40s? Did I hear somewhere she has arthritis??

nikkie · 25/11/2006 22:35

NOt 63 , her Mum didn't look old enough

blondie64 · 25/11/2006 22:50

not sure how old Claire is but Arlene is 62 according to daily mail this week!

nikkie · 25/11/2006 22:53
Shock
Fattymumma · 25/11/2006 22:56

bloody hell. 62!

ist not fair i tell you...i look at least 108 sand im not even 30

themoon66 · 25/11/2006 23:28

Yes, Claire has severe arthritis. I read an article where she said she cannot even walk on her feet first thing in the mornings because they are so painful. Before she dances she has to tape soft padding over the most painful parts of her feet. I think she said she was currently taking some new drug which is being tested at the moment.

I have loads of admiration for her. My mum has arthritis of the feet and she cannot walk at all some days.

sophiewd · 26/11/2006 12:06

Claire is 43, same age as my husband but he looks younger! Have net her in RL many years ago when she was still in Emmerdale and spent about an hour taling horses for which she has a great passion. Must be very difficult to still ride as well as she does when she has arthritis.

poppynic · 27/11/2006 13:02

Loved Claire - thought she had such a great attitude - she always knew she was never the best dancer but always worked hard, looked like she enjoyed it and didn't get snarky when she didn't do well - unlike some others.....
It's a bit tragic when someone ends up in the bottom two for a change and goes on and on and on about how terrible it was for them - when Claire has been there most of the time and managed it beautifully.
Surely Carole has to go this week, about six weeks too late imo - though have to admit she did a very nice waltz on Saturday. Was she complaining she didn't get a better mark than Emma last week even though the judges praised her and criticised Emma???
Has Emma actually improved throughout the series? Everyone else has. Her spinning lift was amazing though.
Still adore Louisa and hope she wins.
Yes, think Karen has toned down her clutching at Mark a little, very nice to see.
Peaches - I think they seem to be allowed a lifty-type thing as the finish off piece - not strictly part of the dance ? maybe? just so your dh doesn't give himself a heart attack??? Maybe you should sign him up for lessons pronto - but you'd better go too - there can be a lot of desperate women in those classes (not me, not me, not me .

Tutter · 27/11/2006 13:06
