Strictly Come Dancing - too uncool?

I absolutely love this show and it just gets better every series. But I rarely admit to it in public and none of my friends watch it - they all watch X factor - which I love too but not as much. So would love to hear from anyone who loves it as much as me!

Though the group dance was better with more than 2 dances though

I thought Bruce would topple over when he danced with ola! She was barely decent as usual! don't u love her!

tribpot · 23/12/2006 22:44

So pleased with the result. Agree that both show dances would have been better with more time to rehearse - the five dance thing was a nonsense.

Yay Christmas special!

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 23/12/2006 22:44

Yay loved dancing on ice too!

multitasker · 23/12/2006 22:48

Heard Ulrika Jonson has signed up for Dancing on Ice.........

Legacy · 23/12/2006 22:52

God I wish Karen would pull herself together though and stop hanging on Mark - felt so sorry for his poor wife

Molesworth · 23/12/2006 22:55

Mark's wife didn't seem to mind! She was hugging Karen too at the end

KezzaG · 23/12/2006 22:56

Agree Legacy. I thought that last shot of them was weird. Karen was holding his daughter and was about to cuddle Mark again. It was like a family shot without the wife in it. Maybe it seems worse in light of the affair stories in the papers.

Glad they won though, they have a real energy and enjoyment about them when they dance.

Zog · 23/12/2006 22:57

What affair stories?

Molesworth · 23/12/2006 23:03

I disagree: Mark's wife has been there in the audience every week, said tonight how proud she is of him and was hugging both Mark and Karen at the end. Bloody News of the World makes me angry stirring up old news like that

Zog · 23/12/2006 23:04

Ah, NOTW. Say no more...

KezzaG · 23/12/2006 23:05

Oh I didnt see Marks wife hugging Karen too. Good Im glad they get on, his wife seems lovely.

andaSOAPBOXinapeartree · 23/12/2006 23:08

I hadn't seen the affair stories but from watching it thought that Mark was finding it excruciating and was constantly trying to peel Karen off him.

I thought all was far from well with the family dynamics. Really thought all was not well at all!

themoon66 · 23/12/2006 23:09

What the hell are me and DH gonna watch and weep over together on a saturday night now?? Yes..... DH is a is massive fan too

Oh I wish I could learn to dance...... [longing emoticon]

Molesworth · 23/12/2006 23:10

Same here with me and dp - we feel bereft!

Tempted to learn to dance too but I'd tower over dp in them heels

bournemouthbaublebabe · 23/12/2006 23:12

Well done Karen! A Bournemouth girl don't ya know.

ClementClarkeMoore · 23/12/2006 23:36

My actual favourite was Ray Fearon

MariNativityPlay · 23/12/2006 23:37

OK, so Mark is the more naturally talented amateur, but I thought Matt improved more over the course of the series - and Lilia is by far the better teacher and choreographer...IMO. Her idea to bring in the acting coach...clever stuff.
But it looks like I was the only one rooting for Matt and Lilia
Maybe I was getting the same vibes as Soapy but I found Mark Ramprakash oddly glazed and tense despite his terrific dancing.
Ds and dd love it too, although we had a lot of wailing from dd that Spice Girl was out (we missed last week's).

jenk1 · 23/12/2006 23:38

I have just found a dance hall just up the road from where i live that i didnt even know was there and DH said he will come with me and learn latin dancing if i want!!!!!!

Dont know, as im quite a shy person usually..

MariNativityPlay · 23/12/2006 23:38

Clement, I was astonished he went out so soon too. Great dancer, nice man. He was ds' favourite.

ClementClarkeMoore · 23/12/2006 23:39

No you weren't, I wanted Matt to win too!

Molesworth · 23/12/2006 23:44

Ray "Plank of Wood" Fearon?

Spoony is the one who shouldn't have gone out - he was good!

ClementClarkeMoore · 24/12/2006 13:17

Yes, Spoony should have stayed longer but I don't know how you can call Ray a plank of wood? wash yer mahrf ahrt!

dontgivethedogsprouts · 24/12/2006 13:21

Hadn't been watching this, but noticed in my local paper the other day that Karen's from my home town. So she won then? Great.
