Strictly Come Dancing - too uncool?

I absolutely love this show and it just gets better every series. But I rarely admit to it in public and none of my friends watch it - they all watch X factor - which I love too but not as much. So would love to hear from anyone who loves it as much as me!

You are not tragic! Strictly is simply compulsive viewing!

poppynic · 12/11/2006 22:26

Lol - thank you. Think I can go to join my grumpty dp in bed now. (I really want to climb in with my sweet 4 year old ds - but somehow I feel that's just not right....)

oxocube · 13/11/2006 06:56

How do they decide on which partner each celeb gets? Do they look at weight, height, personality etc or do you thing they just draw straws?

trying2bgood · 13/11/2006 18:35

I think it is partly height etc which is why Ian always gets the tall ones. But I also think they try to divide out who they think is good so the same professional does not always get the beginner with two left feet. As Gloria Huniford mentioned 'Emma is Darren's reward for having me last time'. However, I also think they give 'tough' cases to Erin and Anton who seem to have the best levels of patience considering what they have to deal with!

Roll on sat, I can't wait!

Tutter · 13/11/2006 18:38

to all those who think x factor is superior to strictly come dancing:

on saturday the guest singers were beyonce and hoooooooolio iglesias

guess which show the currently-very-famous-and-sh*t-hot singer (i'll give you a clue: that's not the scratchy-voice wrinkler iglesias) went for?

RTKangaMummy · 13/11/2006 18:47

Do you gys watch BBC2 @ 6.30

???????????????

multitasker · 13/11/2006 19:07

Everyday...(I have no life)

nikkie · 13/11/2006 20:09

most usually do seem to be well matched amd they must take it in turns to have the 'difficult' partners.

trying2bgood · 13/11/2006 22:05

Managed to watch the beginning of it today but usually miss it as is coincides with bath time - boo, wish they would repeat it at a later time. Ray really looked gutted, bless!

theheadlessgirl · 18/11/2006 19:20

Has anyone watched tonight? I loved Matt and Lilia!

themoon66 · 18/11/2006 19:53

Matt and Lilia were the best of the bunch by far tonight, I agree. He even looks like Fred Astair!

oxocube · 18/11/2006 20:01

Yes, they were fab! Am I the only one who didn't like Vincent and Louisa's tango? Yes, it was technically good but there was absolutely no passion, no relationship. I tried to explain tonight to my 9 yr old daughter why a 17 year old could not have enough experience to dance a dance such as the tango - could not have lived and loved and hurt enough - but obviously it was difficult and fell on deaf ears Mark a little disappointing (although he is my favourite!)

theheadlessgirl · 18/11/2006 20:09

I really disliked Matt for the first few rounds, thought him very cocky, but I'm loving the way he's really getting into it. I agree about little Louisa - she was trying so hard not to smile, but didn't get the right spirit of the dance. She's only a baby bless her....

MagicGenie · 18/11/2006 20:29

Lilia obviously has the magic touch with these sporty types!

Not sure who my favourite is...but I thought Claire and Brendan's tango was good tonight.

Bomper · 18/11/2006 20:47

Thought Matt was great tonight!! Peter to go tonight - PLLEEEAAASSEEE!!!

tribpot · 18/11/2006 21:17

Oh god - please not Karen and Mark to go ... PLEASE.

trying2bgood · 18/11/2006 21:42

have been phoning for mark and karen, as if he goes up against peter at the end, he will not survive, those man U fans will never let him go without a fight and its his birthday!! Really felt his samba was pretty bad though compared to previous weeks. Matt was good but am not keen on him as he is pretty cocky & a little dull!

jingleboobs · 18/11/2006 21:54

just checked the bbc website and its 45% for peter and erin to go

God - heart in mouth, I actually wanted it to be Emma ;) (but just SO pleased it isn't Mark).

trying2bgood · 18/11/2006 22:09

At last, sanity shines through, want mark to win but there is no way Emma should go at this point, she is far too good!

Peter has gone!

themoon66 · 18/11/2006 22:33

Thank god it's peter who has gone. He was not a natural dancer at all and only stayed in coz of the sympathy vote IMO.

trying2bgood · 18/11/2006 22:37

Agree although I did like his quip about Craig's book!!!

Who was doing the camera work today, it seemed all over the place?
