I absolutely love this show and it just gets better every series. But I rarely admit to it in public and none of my friends watch it - they all watch X factor - which I love too but not as much. So would love to hear from anyone who loves it as much as me!

so wish Claudia would get rid if that fringe , she'd look a hunderd times better

3andnomore · 10/11/2006 21:59

Well...after 2 days/nights...she is back to normal...Claudia is...thank god..still think she has drooopy eyes, but it suits her...wonder if their normal Make up artist was off duty and the new one thought more was less, lol...but less freaked at her being back at normal!

nikkie · 11/11/2006 18:13

The singer for SCD must have been having nightmares about 'I don't feel like dancing' I did Lol at when he dropped an octave though

Weren't Claire and Brendan good, totally different

3andnomore · 11/11/2006 19:55

They were fab!
And Matt and is it Lillia....well..Matt and partner, I thought it was a fab routine fabulous done...never thought he really had it in him...but was very disappointed about Carol Smillie (sp?) and the results she got...compared to say, Louise, she has got fabulous posture and natural grace.....and I thought it was a lovely routine, was shocked they picked so many holes in it...dh though, mentioned that maybe the judges clicked on and try to make us feel sorry for them so we vote...as it seems to be the underdog being pulled through....!
As for underdog voting...I don't get it....if I ever vote for anything, i will always vote for the best act, not who I like the best in person....I just don't get why people feel they do themselfs or anyone else a favour by keeping people in that aren't up to scratch...counts for all competitive programmes, btw

multitasker · 11/11/2006 21:14

Schmiehel stays for another week!! He's really coming across like a nice bloke, modest and down to earth. Can't say I'm bothered Ray has gone, I thought he was so in love with himself. Pity Carol got hammered, and whats the big deal about Emma - I mean the adulation the judges throw on her will very soon work against her very soon. I'm so in awe of the professionals dancing to the guest singer on the results show. It was a huge travesty that Flavia got stuck with Jimmy Tarbuck, her and Vincent look amazing together. To go next? Anyones guess.

tribpot · 11/11/2006 21:35

Sad that Ray has gone, poor old Schmeichel was well out of it this week. Carol judged far too harshly in my view, and the adulation of Emma - per-lease.

That cha-cha was red hot, I loved the way Ola managed to have even less on than the other ladies

nikkie · 11/11/2006 21:40

NOt even belt sized!

tribpot · 11/11/2006 21:41

No - the merest fringe of respectability, bless her!

nikkie · 11/11/2006 21:46

we're only jealous!

theheadlessgirl · 11/11/2006 22:58

You're right its jealousy if I had Ola's body I'd dance naked!! I think Peter should go next, but footie fans will put paid to that, so Louisa should go next, she always looks like she's trying to catch up with her partner

robinpud · 11/11/2006 23:14

I'm too lazy to read the whole thread but does it contasin the answer to my 2 most pressing Strictly questions.

  1. Why is Schiemikelmikel's nose always so RED?
2 Is Camilla still sha**ing James Martin?
trying2bgood · 11/11/2006 23:17

cannot believe Ray has gone but I knew it would not be Peter, way too many footie fans out there who still view him as a goalie god!!! Thought emma was great, my money is still on mark to carry the title though but wasn't Matt much better. It is really hotting up, Carole to go next as I don't think she has the pulling power to fend the others off next week.
brendan and claire should not have been in the bottom two but unfortunately as many people hate brendad as love him!
Ray so did not deserve to be kicked out! And camila deserves to be in the final one day as she puts her heart and soul in it. But I guess they all do!
I don't think I can bear to see another couple go.....

trying2bgood · 11/11/2006 23:18

here are the answers:

  1. peter so tall, it is cold up there!
  2. No, her boyfriend is Italian and I don't think they ever were!
oxocube · 12/11/2006 07:53

I read an interview with Camilla recently where she said that the Camilla/James thing was pure media speculation although they were good mates. She is engaged, I think, to an Italian guy. She is also the 'face' - well legs really -of Pretty Polly tights!

tribpot · 12/11/2006 12:32

I think Carol attempted a very hard lift this week, didn't she? And didn't get a lot of credit for it.

I actually thought Ola looked quite odd that week when she was fully clothed! I'm sure in real life she doesn't walk down the street in a cheeky little cha cha number.

I do think it should be Peter next. The salsa was truly dreadful.

LittleSarah · 12/11/2006 12:47

Well I thought they were harsh on Carol but I could understand their critisicms, her arms, at times were horrendous. (But then I think she is boring and want her to go!)

I'm not too bothered about Ray, he seems nice enough but full of himself!

Mark was a little rough I thought but still want him to win!

I adore it and insist on watching it every night it's on. Except - my two favourite couples were in the bottom two last night - I can't bear it. Ray may have been a bit big-headed but he was such fab. eye-candy. I think his main problem was his routines were too much prancing and too little dancing - which is a shame coz I'm sure he could manage the dancing. I'm so upset he's gone.

Totally agree with the judges re Carol - and by the look on her face when she got her comments she was getting just as big-headed as Ray (but with far less reason to be). Thought she was awkward looking in the salsa too - but good on her for giving it a go.

Surely footballers aren't voting for Peter are they? Is it their wives? If Carol or Peter don't go next week I may have to stop watching [big fat lie].

Wasn't Emma a professional dancer in a former life? I don't think she should be allowed in the competition if that's the case. I'm sure that Louisa must have done quite a bit too.

As for Matt - I want to hire that drama coach or whoever it was - what a fantastic change.

I think that Mark's just a bit too goody goody.

trying2bgood · 12/11/2006 14:30

In regards to Emma and Louisa, I think there is a huge difference from taking the odd dance class at drama class and doing this stuff. Neither are dancers so it is fine that they are on the show in my opinion. Obviously, if Bonnie Langford came on it would be completely different as she is a dancer. Jill, winner of second series, did ballet when she was young and turned out to be great but often there really is no way of knowing how good you will be at all the dances until you are on the show - she did if memory is correct suck at the Tango though!

What Emma has over the others is that she is used to performing in front of people live and being professional and 'covering up' even when it goes wrong.

You can't help but love the way Peter just takes it all on the chin and simply enjoyes the experience.

sorry am going on a bit I just love it so much! Wish more 'big' names would take the plunge but I think many don't want to do the hard draft or make a fool of themselves! Imagine if Posh followed in emma's footsteps????

multitasker · 12/11/2006 14:35

Yeah, you're spot on there, the way Peter takes it on the chin is admirable - especially as Craig seems to have run out of "h" words to hurl at him. The others could do with shrinking their heads a bit, modesty is a very appealing attribute and one that has saved Peter so far.

nikkie · 12/11/2006 18:48

If have to admit to not liking Peter originally just because I think of him as Man Utd but he comes across asa nice bloke and a good sport.

tribpot · 12/11/2006 19:29

I thought Peter played for Man U but then wasn't sure - presumably he is used to the blistering / shoe-throwing criticism of Alex Ferguson so the Strictly Judges seem quite mild in comparison!

poppynic · 12/11/2006 21:45

I think Emma has done more than "the odd dance class at drama school." She has apparently had ballet lessons (which is a good base for latin with lots of straight legs) and tap lessons (better for ballroom) from 5 years old and then entered theatre school from age 10 with ballet and jazz lessons and wanted to be a professional dancer until she hurt her back at 14. That's 9 years of a lot of lessons at ages when you pick a lot up. Then of course she has been involved with a lot of dancey moves with the Spice Girls. The "Strictly" website specifically says she has "never had ballroom or latin lessons or danced with a partner". She is of course also a fabulous performer with a great smile who can cover up mistakes - but I still think she comes into the competition with a pretty unfair advantage over people who haven't spent a lot of their lives learning to dance...

trying2bgood · 12/11/2006 22:06

I suppose u are right, I don't really know anything about Emma's background, but I guess the producers have to get whoever they can get! I saw Ronan on 'it takes two' and he said he would never go on the show ever as a contestant. I think big names who can actually dance are better than unknown celebs who can't! Not sure I would call what the spice girls did as dancing though - LOL - more like prancing!

Emma is a big draw but Mark is the revelation!

Tribpot - LOL, yes he was with ManU and so I imagine Craig must seem like a fluffy puppy compared to Alex F, just ask Beckham.

poppynic · 12/11/2006 22:10

Yeah, I'm pretty tragic - I just googled Emma . I just couldn't believe from her samba that she hadn't done quite a bit of dancing - I thought it was sooooo good. - Although I agree with Brendan - giving her high marks for a foxtrot with no heel leads was a travesty against everything "foxtrot" stands for.
