New thread here

OP posts:

Am v happy with Lens decision. I agree that he had to go that way due to the illegal lifts .
I prefer Simon but instantly forget him. Think he will go soon just because of that.

IPityThePontipines · 07/12/2014 21:42

I knew Len would save Simon as he's raved about his dancing throughout the series.

Not at all surprised at Pixie being in the DO, the public haven't warmed to her, because she's so obviously got tons of dance training and hasn't got a big fanbase backing her up. She's more of a pop pleb then pop princess.

Pandora37 · 07/12/2014 21:44

I was out last night so I've just caught up. I enjoyed Simon's American Smooth actually, he's improved in ballroom so much. Kristina's dress was so gorgeous, I was drooling over it.

I enjoyed Mark and Karen but he still lacks a bit of finesse.

I hated Caroline's hair and dress. I liked that they did slow bits in their AT as often it can be really frantic. It was very, very good but I still prefer Simon's even though it wasn't technically as good. I think Simon's had more of a wow factor, for me anyway.

Craig and Len were right about Pixie's legs, they were very distracting as they were far too rigid. I didn't enjoy it but then cha cha is my least favourite dance so I rarely like them.

I liked Frankie more this week, I thought her performance was better and she's improving in latin.

Jake was amazing, he is very much a character dancer though. I don't know why he came last in the waltzathon as I thought his top frame was really good but maybe his footwork wasn't, I couldn't see. But the really 'out there' dances are definitely where he shines.

I did say a while back I thought Pixie was the best in terms of technique and performance but actually the last couple of weeks there have been little things that have let her down whilst the others have improved. She comes across to me as extremely confident and I don't know if that makes people think she's up herself? Unfortunately, she was the least likeable person left so she never stood a chance of winning. I'm glad she's gone as I think it will make the final much more interesting. Jake and Mark are the weakest ones left I think but as Jake is very popular I reckon Mark will go next week. I really hope Simon gets to the final, I think he deserves it but I have a feeling that Caroline will win.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 07/12/2014 21:53

Don't know why Neil Jones was just being used as a replacement pro :s

SoupDragon · 07/12/2014 22:11

If you don't want spoilers or hints at spoilers, then it should be made clear in the title of the thread

Rubbish. Once the two who were in the dance off were announced on screen, it was obvious who was going because of your comment earlier.

It's common sense and good manners not to post spoilers in threads about TV programmes, especially when you have to make the effort to seek out the results early.

SpanishFly · 07/12/2014 22:18

I see. So it's one rule for all Telly Addicts threads (title has the word "spoilers" in it) and another for the Strictly thread. How silly of me to not realise.

SockQueen · 07/12/2014 22:28

Think it sounded like Frankie has caught Kevin's manflu. Hope she doesn't get sick this week!

ThursdayLast · 07/12/2014 22:29

I think strictly is a bit different because the results aren't aired as soon as they're filmed.
its not like we're complaining that you hinted after they were on the telly!

OttiliaVonBCup · 07/12/2014 22:30

It's not a spoiler one second after it's aired.

One second before constitutes a spoiler and it's a bad thing.

SpanishFly · 07/12/2014 22:31

Actually I apologise for the shocked face earlier. It was referring to the fact I was shocked at who was in the dance off, as opposed to who was kicked out. But I can see that's not what it looked like.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 07/12/2014 22:35

I think we generally go with once it's been aired it's fine, before please avoid. Other threads have spoilers if you haven't seen the broadcast yet, rather than because it hasn't been shown yet.

Anyway...

I wonder what Pixie would have had to do for Craig not to put her through. He couldn't really have signposted it more clearly!

ThursdayLast · 07/12/2014 22:35
Smile Strictly isn't for falling out over
PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 07/12/2014 22:37

Sorry, x-posting there.

I don't know what Simon was doing in the floor. He was shocked yes, but it's not the best manners...

SpanishFly · 07/12/2014 22:38

Nope there are loads of threads where people discuss unaired spoilers. I've been caught out with them before. Therefore the mn etiquette is to have "spoilers" in the title.
But I've apologised for the comment I made that wasn't very clear and therefore led people to think I meant something else

2rebecca · 07/12/2014 22:45

People often post hints or links to spoiler threads on other sites here though. It's well known the result show is filmed on Saturday after the competition. If you don't want to see hints then don't read the thread after 9pm on Saturday.
I wish they'd just do the result show on Saturday and put something different on on Sunday evening.
Agree that I wish people who've read spoiler threads or been to the live show would just keep it to themselves and comment on nappy threads or something instead.

Redcoats · 07/12/2014 22:57

SpanishFly - it's quite common on soap threads to discuss stuff coming up, but the show publishes their own spoilers and they're all over the press. It's hard to avoid them.
It's not quite the same for strictly. Nobody connected with the show say anything until after its been aired.

Anyway, it's all good. Usually happens on the thread once a year year. You meant no harm. Lets all be friends.

It's Strictly, we can't fall out over it.

R4roger · 07/12/2014 22:57

yes simon shoudl not have faux fainted. At least nobody gave him the attention!
so glad Pixie went.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 07/12/2014 22:59

I wonder if the pro dance was filmed before Saturday. Neil Jones should have been in Paris for a comp, he only wasn't because they had a car crash on the way.

It seems a shame they didn't showcase him a bit more.

Pandora37 · 07/12/2014 23:12

I was speaking to someone recently who went to see Strictly a few years ago and she said the pro dances had already been recorded so she didn't see them. So it's likely that they were.

MWestie · 08/12/2014 01:36

Hi, I'm very late to the Strictly party but am such a huge so love reading all the comments here. Just wanted to say, was lucky enough to see the show last year and they did record the pro numbers on the night, more than once which was great, so maybe that's changed in recent years.

MWestie · 08/12/2014 01:41

Huge fan even...

knottyhair · 08/12/2014 05:43

Just de-lurking to say a friend went to the recording a couple of weeks ago and they did record the pro-dance on the night (it was the first thing they did). Also re: judges, she was sitting right behind them and said they were all really lovely & chatting with the audience, apart from Bruno who was very stand-offish. She said that Caroline, Frankie & Steve Backshall stayed on after filming finished and chatted to the audience for ages. As you were....

SoupDragon · 08/12/2014 07:33

So it's one rule for all Telly Addicts threads (title has the word "spoilers" in it) and another for the Strictly thread. How silly of me to not realise.

Um... The strictly thread title doesn't have "spoilers" in it Confused not sure where the "rule" is different.

Anyway, as I expected, it's now got to the point where the right people are left for the final stages, regardless of what order they were voted out in. I'm not sure who I think will win. Maybe Caroline or Mark depending who is up against who in the pure voting stages. I do like Jake though.

Mark seems to be the one who has had a journey as he was crap. The superman dance in particular I thought was utterly dreadful. The others seem to have started out good and got better.

GrouchyKiwi · 08/12/2014 08:26

I'm happy with the result. Thought Pixie's dance this week was poor and it's nice to see the judges sticking to the maxim "you're only as good as your last dance".

I'd like Jake to leave next, unlikely as it is. I think his high performance factor hides his lack of dance skill, and I also think he doesn't do a lot of dancing in each number. And I'm completely put off by his facial expressions.

Wouldn't mind any of Mark, Simon abs Caroline winning.

Looking forward to two dances this week! (Thanks Thursday.)

SpanishFly · 08/12/2014 08:27

Grin I did mean "no spoilers" - I'd had one too many when I posted last night!
