Yes Sylvia Young does acting classes Tensmum I suppose he could've attended a different one too.

digerd I'm not sure about his contemporary rumba; maybe Karen's incredible talent showed him up I don't know.

Well, I think I've heard that Mark has been to Theatre School so that might account for the acting? Xmas Smile

I agree about Mark's face being very attractive but I was also entranced by his performance of his contemporary ballet-style rumba, making me think he had previous experience of this. Perhaps it was just excellent acting, though. I am unsure.

Yes I did see that Tensmumym Fra. is quite good natured IMO she was also trying to be friendly with Pix when they were interviewed together which didn't quite work Xmas Grin.

I also noticed the emphasis by the judges on Mark's 'journey' yesterday when he was saved. As I said it was his pretty face that saved him IMO!!!

Does anyone else wonder about the female celebrities getting pms?
I've wondered about that in the previous series. There was always odd weeks when a sleb girl cried a lot in training & just didn't 'get it' and struggled a bit on the show night.

I struggle with coordination and physical energy when I'm premenstrual, so maybe they do too? And they aren't athletes like the pro women who are used to coping through the month, and probably have better nutrition & support to enable them to compete at their high levels.

Whaddya reckon?

ppeatfruit - interesting you should say that. Did you see the bit in ITT when Zoe was interviewing Frankie and Kevin and she mentioned how light Janette was? Frankie made a joke of it and took it very well.

I'm sure Mark hasn't had lots of dance experience but he must have had some. It wouldn't bother me so much if he - and others, including Len fgs - didn't go ON and ON and ON about being a complete beginner.

Yes digerd The thing with the lifts is that IMO Frankie is quite heavy for Kev. and maybe doesn't 'jump' into the lifts as I was told to do when doing partnering training in ballet. (lifts are not easy at all) Grin.

Tens If Mark was in a musical or panto whatever, he deffo would have been dancing. I remember some Sylvia Young boys singing in Oliver in the time he would've been there.

Please, please can someone in the media ask Mark if he has ever had, even a teeny, weeny bit of dance instruction in his 10 years at the Sylvia Young Theatre School? Very Sad we won't get to see Jake's salsa again in the final. Would love Simon or Caroline to win but can't see that happening. I think it will probably be Frankie as she has the support from being in a group and, despite the overreaction this series, Kevin is very popular.

digerd · 15/12/2014 12:00

In lifts it is the responsibility of the man to lower the girl with great strength and control, in which it seems Kevin is somewhat lacking

Something caused Caroline's posture in hold to be so off .Confused.
She has never been like that in her previous ballroom dances - very odd.

Caroline is a more skilled dancer than Frankie.

ppeat, but IMO unfortunately it didn't come across as her dancing as a doll but just as her dancing stiffly in a bad way.

She is so OBVIOUSLY trained. I don't think it's very fair. I know it was when she was very young, but early training is probably more likely to 'stick' than if you do it when you're older.

I think it was James Corden who asked how much dance experience she'd had!!!!!! She'd been to ballet\dancing class till 9 yrs old and of course danced with the Saturdays.

It's true Kev hasn't the posture of Pascha (my god he's gorgeous!!!!!).

I liked the jive that the pros did and Louis AAAAAh !!!

ppeat even though KFG has a sticky out bum naturally, he does adopt an odd posture and sticks it out even more in some dances, he just doesn't seem to pull up and stand tall like the other dancers.

What was the question and answer?

Report
ppeatfruit · 15/12/2014 10:48

Yes I agree about Simon. ( I heart him) and want him to win. I thought they were all fairly crap and Caro was widely over marked.

Frankie was supposed to be a stiff 'doll' though wasn't she onlylovers ? did you hear her and Kev on R2 ? The $100,000 question was asked and she answered honestly!!!!!!![fshock Xmas Shock

Mark's face won him the DO iMO he's cuter than Jake!

OnlyLovers · 15/12/2014 10:11

I thought Caroline's foxtrot was WAY overpraised and overmarked. Her top line was shocking and they would have torn a strip off anyone else for it. Her salsa was good but I was still so annoyed about the foxtrot I didn't think it was THAT good. Grin

Mark and Karen's VW was utterly forgettable and their 'rumba' was weird, badly danced (no hip action or proper action up from the feet through the body) and a rubbish song. Karen's crying was unprofessional and, even if not calculated to get votes, was almost certainly what got them through.

I liked Jake's cha cha even though his technique wasn't that good. The VW was OK. He was the weakest dancer but I'll miss him; his dances have such character and he and Janette are a great couple. I don't find any of the others interesting as a partnership.

Frankie's rumba was twee and creepily babyish and she looked stiff as a board at points and came down with an almighty thump out of those lifts/drops. Hugely overmarked. Her AT was OK but too sanitised, and her legs didn't 'whip' enough in the ganchos.

Simon's samba was a bit of a disaster but it was tough him having to do a samba and a foxtrot in the same week. The foxtrot was a delight; he absolutely lit up and put on the ritz. His reaction when he thought he was in the dance-off, put on his solemn dance-off face and then realised he was actually through was so sweet. They are my favourites now Jake's gone; I didn't like Simon at first but I think he's shown himself to be a lovely genuine person and he works so hard at the dancing now. I don't think he'll win though. Sad

KFG always seems to stoop and stick out his bum when dancing, something the male celebrities are picked up on so why, as a professional, does he do it and get away with it?

New thread here.

I can understand emotional crying - Karen (Hardy) after their AT, Ola after winning, and Joanne Clifton when they were retiring from professional competing was heartbreaking. But because you've been told off for choreography that quite frankly you knew wasn't the right dance? Little sympathy here.

I only just realised this weekend that Kevin and Karen are engaged. I wish them happiness of course, but they seem quite badly suited to me. I would have imagined her with to a calm, capable, kind man as she is so needy. And I would have imagined Kevin more with a down to earth woman with a sense of humour (because I suspect you would really need a sense of humour to tolerate that chirpy egotism long term).

Why on earth was Karen sobbing that she and Mark got through? It's not about her at all. She is a professional and her job is to teach and support her celebrity so that he can achieve the best he's capable of, not fall to pieces and leave him propping her up while he's also being interviewed. Hmm
