Exactly Nancy I'm glad for your friend holey and I know done addicts do want to get clean and good luck to them but I can't feel sorry for the ones who don't want the help and make everyone else miserable around them. My bil is a drug/drink addict he's had chance after chance but no he would rather stay on his drink and harass his mother got money as well as steal from family and make our lives a misery. She has had 25 years of this misery and has finally gone nc with him doesn't stop him turning up and causing a scene when she refuses him money and damaging her property. So sorry but unless they genuinely want to change for the better to me they are the lowest of the low and don't deserve my pity.

Tired yes that's very true - and in fact what Fungi's ex said, right? That he needed to get away from the neighbourhood as he will be constantly dragged down by the people in his life there. Easier said than done though.

I don't know, I felt awful for him when the meeting with his son got cancelled, but I agree with rosh After all who knows what kind of trauma and difficulties the son's adoptive parents have had to deal with as a result of Fungi's care for the child?

ScooseIsLoose · 29/01/2014 10:48

Thank your lucky stars you have never had a gun pointed in your face by an addict at 21 years old and that you aren't still scarred by it years later to the extent you are scared to go out on your own and are scared of the dark

Well I'm
Sad for you if you have we can't all turn the other cheek and people are allowed to feel differently

hickorychicken · 29/01/2014 14:50

HAve you holey? IF you had i imagine you would feel very differently.
On mumsnet we are not allowed to call a spade a spade without there being a pityful reason they are a spade.
Someones a drug adict? societys fault. Not their own. Ever. PEople dont have to take responsibility of their own lives as there will always be someone to say "there there, its not your fault".
Fuck a duck.

eslteacher · 29/01/2014 17:02

I dont think feeling sorry for Fungi and feelibg sorry for vis victimes have tout bemutually exclusive. It's notre a black and White world out there.

eslteacher · 29/01/2014 17:03

Oh dear. Phone was in French mode. I'll try again:

I dont think feeling sorry for Fungi and feeling sorry for his victims have to be mutually exclusive. It's not a black and white world out there.

ScooseIsLoose · 29/01/2014 17:32

no they don't everyone is entitled to their opinion and. I have expressed mine. Fwiw I am not saying all drug addicts go on to rob people at gunpoint or otherwise I am just saying I can't feel sorry for the ones who do.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2014 23:19

I did feel bad that fungi can't see his kids but you have to protect their needs

Very sorry for mark and looked so downtrodden at the food place - but why didn't they just ring his gf and get her to come down

He looked so thrilled with his food bank bag

But

They can't afford food yet gf was still smoking - so can afford fags but not food for kids

White dee dd did one day at gym. Should have done longer

Live to work or work to live

Very true

salsmum · 30/01/2014 01:39

HoleySocksBatman, I think we can all clearly see by the Hmm expressions of people who know Fungi the most and are around him that he probably has had many chances to quite or been offered a lot of help. It all comes down to how the UK treats drug addiction as a crime, and not the illness that it is I strongly disagree, on the first or second episode Fungi said that he gets incapacity benefit in recognition of his illness/es funnily enough so does my DD although unlike Fungi my DD is severely physically disabled not through lifestyle choices! I.B. is awarded to people with medical conditions who are unable to work as more able bodied/medically fit people do, it is a benefit in recognition of the extra care needs of the recipient too I believe. I will not apologise for feeling infuriated when I saw him walking up the high Street being able to move fast enough to shoplift and scam people (and supplement his benefits) and getting the same benefit as my daughter who is wheelchair bound, cannot walk, stand, sit nor dress herself. If he gives up his drug dependency he may have to seek work like the rest of us and come off his 'added benefits' so I suppose it suits him to regress frequently! Wink.

salsmum · 30/01/2014 01:49

I wonder also if the people who had the gun held to them in the Mcdonalds would share your sentiments?? ( although seems a VERY light sentence he received for attempted? armed robbery) Hmm.

Roshbegosh · 30/01/2014 01:50

blondes besides the smoking you mentioned did you see they picked it all up in a taxi too. Fungi was also in a taxi. Why can't they buy food and use the bus?

salsmum yes he has strong motivation to stay unwell. If he gets better the incapacity benefit stops and he might be expected to work to support himself, or live on less benefit money.

Holey. I would put money on the suggestion that many fags were bought for the participants, taxis paid for.....that kind of thing. It's all an added sweetener for taking part. Bet the local alcohol sales increased too courtesy of the film makers.

Have watched docu type filming taking place before and there is always money available to buy little bits and pieces like this for participants.

ATOS should see him as fit for work!!! Hes able enough to steal and sell on!
Do you think he is unfit for work holey?
Yeah they deffo got paid in fags, booze and macdonalds. Because if they were paid in cash it would affect their benefits (im sure they would all definately declare it) Grin

Nancy66 · 30/01/2014 09:09

In fairness the production co would def have paid for the taxis - just because it's very hard to get permission to film on public transport

So let him stay on benefits, instead of getting a job and self respect. Should we mollycoddle and subsidise him for the rest of his life?

hickorychicken · 30/01/2014 12:31

And you completely contradict yourself. Your ex addict friend is the father of 3 adoptive kids - would you let him look after your kids or cut your hair.
You are either a bulllshitter, troll or complete hypocrite.
He SHOULD NOT be on IB When genuinely disabled people who are unfit for work dont get it! Makes me sick.
