White Dee telling Fungi to ignore the letter is condemning him to a life without any support to help him change and the smirk of contempt makes me want to slap her.

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici · 06/01/2014 21:33

Sorry, I meant government orchestrated propaganda as part of their current treatment of and attitude towards people on benefits.

I know it actually is propaganda in so far as it is intended to influence opinion. And sadly I think it's working!

It just feels like the nasty hand of a government agenda is pulling some strings.

racmun · 06/01/2014 21:33

why do they all seem to live in such a mess. if they're not out at work why don't they at least tidy up their houses or sweep up the rubbish thats everywhere??

theywillgrowup · 06/01/2014 21:34

bloody depressing, and alot thinking this is how all claimants live,we do not though some do

this will be the talk of the UK tomorrow and not in a good way

racmun · 06/01/2014 21:35

Nothing like confessing to theft on tv

rpitchfo · 06/01/2014 21:36

on the day the government announces 12 billion cuts from the welfare bill....bet they can't believe their luck

everydayaschoolday · 06/01/2014 21:36

It's 'sensational' TV though, isn't it, to get viewers? Extremes of society. Yes, some people live like this, but I doubt it's the majority. It's a sad reminder that we don't all have the same opportunities in life, and many are dealt a tougher hand at the outset.

Only small-minded individuals think all people who claim benefits live like this.

theywillgrowup · 06/01/2014 21:37

they live like that because many know no different, been bought up in poverty, substance abuse, in care, never had much support from familys etc as children

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici · 06/01/2014 21:38

Yes, rpitchfo.

What a stroke of luck for them indeed.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 06/01/2014 21:38

There are a hell of a lot of small minded people then..

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/01/2014 21:40

At least it gives the lie to the myth that people on benefits swan around in luxury, I suppose.

everydayaschoolday · 06/01/2014 21:40

Jazz I know, and that too is very sad.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 06/01/2014 21:41

Maybe those who are jealous if the huge handouts rhey think people get should think about whether they'd want to live that life.

IndigoCat · 06/01/2014 21:41

I don't think it's a coincidence this programme is on after the coalition welfare funding cut announced today.

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici · 06/01/2014 21:43

Yeah, it brings out all the hard of thinking who swallow all this crap about people on benefits living it up on my taxes. They should be in sackcloth and ashes, crawling up and down the street, waving a bell and kissing the feet of passing workers.

It brings out the nasty in people. I am surprised they can't look at programmes like this and see them for what they are. And recognise for every Benefit Claimant Stereotype paraded before us in a 'wifebeater vest', effing and blinding and being drunk at 10 am, there are 100 people choosing between a pint of milk or a loaf of bread, utterly desperate and looking for work. Humiliated and humbled and just trying to get on in life.

FiscalCliffRocksThisTown · 06/01/2014 21:46

I think you all need to examine your own reasons for watching this....

How is other people's poverty....entertainment?

GoshAnneGorilla · 06/01/2014 21:46

Lots in the press about people in the programme feeling duped and mislead by the programme makers. What a surprise.

theywillgrowup · 06/01/2014 21:48

they've struck gold with this street,i give up i really do

Sadoldbag · 06/01/2014 21:48

As is what is written the the guardian stating that there are no people like this out there and aol people on welfare a desperately searching for work relying on good banks due to no fault of there own Hmmthis is propaganda on both sides

It you want to be told every one has it hard and the wicked Tories are making people steal and not look for work whitest having Children they clearly can't afford the guardian is your read.

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici · 06/01/2014 21:48

I'm not watching it.

Piscivorus · 06/01/2014 21:49

The trouble is that some scumbags give the media the leeway to show all benefits claimants as being feckless.

I do find it concerning though that everybody seems to know about their rights but they don't seem to be aware of being responsible in any way.

HotDogHotDogHotDiggityDog · 06/01/2014 21:49

After watching the news earlier re welfare spending cuts, watching the multi millionaire talking about evicting HB claimants etc I groan when I started watching this.

We'll done channel 4, we'll fucking done.

Putty faced Osborne is rubbing his hands with glee I bet Hmm

HotDogHotDogHotDiggityDog · 06/01/2014 21:51

We'll = well and all that jazz....

ISeeYouShiverWithAntici · 06/01/2014 21:51

I don't think anyone has said there are no people like that. Just that they aren't everyone, or even anything close to a majority, but this is the perception of many.

Sadoldbag · 06/01/2014 21:51

Yes well done if you want to watch bemoaning about the Tory cuts and how every one who is living on welfare is living hand to mouth

WATCH the bbc
