Joan Rivers is my all time fave female comedian, still going strong and is 80 this week. I was lucky enough to meet her after a live show last year. Spending ages in the cold and rain meeting her fans at age 79, what a lady!

Who is Frankie Boyle (modern or chessy seventies comic?), from what you are all saying I shouldn't bother to google him!

Hate Frankie Boyle, Roy Chubby Brown, Russell whatshisname from mock the week and that dimwit who plays mrs brown.

Love Micheal McIntyre, Russell Brand, Greg Davies and Lee Evans.

Frankie Boyle - has that quality about him of someone who actively enjoys being unpleasant to others. Grown up school bully.

Russell Brand - self-adoring mysognist.

Jimmy Carr - looks like some sort of creepy ventriloquists dummy with his smarmy expression, beady little eyes and brylcreamed(sp?) hair. Oh, and the rape jokes and tax avoidance.

There are plenty of other comedians I dislike but these ones have that special flesh crawling, icky quality that qualifies them for this thread.

Actually, out of those three I think Jimmy Carr is definitely the creepiest and most flesh crawling. He's an embodiment of all the worst qualities belonging to every awful 70's comedian that ever was.

Jimmy Carr makes my flesh creep too. But it's Frank Skinner that I truly loathe and can imagine being quite vile.

But Chubby Brown, Davidson etc are just appallingly loathsome, 70's throwbacks and deeply unfunny. Frank Skinner has got something truly vile within him I reckon. I'm delighted to see how detested J Carr and Boyle is though.

Regarding John Bishop's accent, it's because he's not a proper scouser. He's what is known in my neck of the woods as a plastic scouser. Lived most of his life in Runcorn, not Liverpool.

Gervais, although I hesitate to call him a comedian.

I used to really like peter kay I like nostalgic humour but over the last 3/4 years he has been increasingly unpleasant and the comic relief thing he did this year was just horrible, he seems bitter about something

I disagree with a lot of these. Jon Richardson, Russell Howard in particular. Russell Howard is lovely, in rl too. His Good News programme is the most watched programme on iplayer isn't it?

I despise Ricky Gervais, Frankie Boyle, Jimmy Carr, Sean Lock, Jason Byrne and Rob Brydon.

I love Tim Minchin, Bill Bailey, Dylan Moran, Steve Hughes, Eddie Izzard, Ross Noble and not stand ups really but David Mitchell, Sue Perkins, Sandi Toksvig and Victoria Coren-Mitchell are ace too.

Agree that Peter Kay has gone off the boil over the last few years no question but at least he did call Liam Gallagher a knob head at the Brits a few years ago. That pleased me greatly as I can't stand Liam Gallagher and he is indeed a knob head! Noel Gallagher on the other hand is ok.

Charlie Brooker. I don't like his face.

I quite fancy Frank Skinner. I think he's sweet.

Jimmy Carr: hate the idiot with a passion. He looks like an axe murderer and someone i'd tell my kids to run away from. Man i'd run away from him myself.
