It's Sunday morning. Man is looking at a job, DD is snoring, I'm alone, bitter, watching saved HIGNFY on telly. Uuurrrgghh Skinner hosting, how fucking horrible is he? I can't watch now.

Oh and also agree with congress. James Corden is a smug twat!

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 02/06/2013 17:31

John Bishop - master of the stealth boast. After dinner speaker made good.

What someone upthread said about The Comedians. Our Tv comedians at the moment do seem the same mix of cosy,.smug middle England nastiness.

MrsGeologist · 02/06/2013 17:36

Sean Lock
Lee Mack
Mrs Brown
Roy Chubby Brown
Frankie Boyle
Keith Lemon (Lemmon? Meh, couldn't give a fuck, he's gross)

Many many others too.

Bowlersarm · 02/06/2013 17:36

Shock at Russell Howard...

He's a lovely young man isn't he??? How can he make your skin crawl???

NorbertDentressangle · 02/06/2013 17:38

Lee Evans, Joe Pasqualle or whatever he's called with the irritating voice and Michael Macintyre (who has good material but delivers it in such an annoying way that I want to knock his head-bobbing block off!).

I also have a real aversion to a lot of the old timers like Bob Monkhouse, Bruce Forsyth and other smug, smarmy, self-congratulatory men of that ilk.

HDEE · 02/06/2013 17:42

Kenn Dodd makes me want to vomit

tomorowisanotherday · 02/06/2013 17:51

Keith lemon.... i just don't find him funny, just plain annoying.

he's alternative alright, the alternate to funny

Mockingcurl · 02/06/2013 18:11

Alan Carr
Keith Lemon
John Bishop

marjproops · 02/06/2013 19:37

jimmy carr, Frankie boyle, russel brand, dara o brien,......

itd be simpler to say who DOES make me laugh and that I like!

TheImpracticalCat · 02/06/2013 19:56

Alan Carr and Mickey Flannagan both have intensely irritating voices, I don't know if they're actually funny or not because I can't get past the cringe of hearing them speak! Lee Evans makes me cringe partly because I don't find hm funny, and partly because I used to know someone who imitated him constantly and found himself hilarious, which made everyone around him want to stave in his head with a golf club. I can't think of any that make my skin crawl in a creepy/unsettling way though.

sensesworkingovertime · 02/06/2013 20:11

kind of like a celluloid ventriloquist's doll enrobed in Brylcreem, Ghastly that is such a brilliant description of Jimmy Carr!!

Can I ask, what is the point of Sarah Millican? She seems to be on loads of shows as a guest but I've never seen what she actually does...add to that she's not even funny as a guest.

And John Bishop has gone way past his sell by date.

Rhod Gilbert is fantastic by the wayGrin

Tim Minchin?? He's completely fantastic.

And I like Rhod Gilbert as well.

I'd be interested to hear who you all do find funny. Not sure there's many left.

GetOrfMoiLand · 02/06/2013 20:47

Tondelayo glad I am not the only one who thinks today's rabble of mediocre comedians are like those smug ghastly Comedians from years ago.

Need some kind of new wave of comedians to come along and make these lot look as nondescript as they really are. You're right to say that they sum up smug middle England small small minded ways.

perplexedpirate · 02/06/2013 20:57

Peter Kay
Frank Skinner

I do love Greg Davies too.

SirChenjin · 02/06/2013 21:01

LovelyMarchHare - I love Kevin Bridges. He's a fellow Scot with a very dry wit, and as far away from middle England as you can get. Although having said that, I also like Michael McIntyre - sorry! In my defence, it's maybe a throwback to my SE England childhood Grin

I like Kevin Bridges too and I saw Bill Bailey live a few weeks ago. I can see why Peter Kay is seen as smug and Frankie Boyle and Jimmy Carr offensive but the rest are either amusing to me or not.

I just obviously prefer comedians who generally get right on other people's tits.

SirChenjin · 02/06/2013 21:30

I also like Shappi Khorsandi

HappyAsEyeAm · 02/06/2013 21:32

Keith Lemmon - I cannot abide him

YoniBottsBumgina · 02/06/2013 21:48

Roy Chubby Brown, ugh. I can't stand comedy which is basically being as offensive and disgusting as you can, especially when it advertises itself as "Outrageous!" God, fuck off, who cares how outrageous you're being. People who find that funny must be the most tedious people in the world.

TheCrackFox · 02/06/2013 21:52

Jimmy Carr. A cheap Bob Monkhouse.

Frank Skinner. I used to really like him until I read his autobiography - he came across as a deeply unpleasant person.

Peter Kaye, again I read his autobiography and it was very badly written and he just seemed to be a bit of a prat in it.

John Bishop- just not funny.

TheCrackFox · 02/06/2013 21:55

I once watched a documentary about Roy Chubby Brown and he is as nasty in real life as he is on stage.
