Here!

I have no idea now who poisoned vera, or who ate all the pies. I record DA and fast forward through all the Bates bits. it is boring me now

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 17/10/2012 15:25

Same as Saltire

ZZZenAgain · 17/10/2012 16:56

what I have never understood about Bates (I tend to leave the room when the prison scenes come on, they always make me want to reach inside the screen and flip the light switch) is why the prison warden has it in for him and why the guy in cell wanted to frame him in the beginning. I may have missed but I think it is never been explained. Am I right?

squoosh · 17/10/2012 16:59

No they never explained it, not as far as I can remember.

I'd like Bates a whole lot more if he turned out to be a cold blooded disposer of annoying ex wives. At least it would bring a bit of light and shade (ok a LOT of shade) to his character.

Bates the martyr is no good to me.

ZZZenAgain · 17/10/2012 17:03

a serial murderer - shades of brides in the bath.

I never warmed to him even with his dicky leg and the Thomas/O'Brien hatred campaign, he was always holding poor Anna at arms length and being all sanctimonius and cryptic. I think I would take more of an interest if he did turn out to be really, really bad.

squoosh · 17/10/2012 17:23

I quite liked him at the start, when he was being bullied by gorgeous awful Thomas.

But now, my fondness is but a distant memory.

JennaLemon · 17/10/2012 17:34

yeah thomas is kind of slimy and hot at the same time.

SlightlySuperiorPeasant · 17/10/2012 18:33

Maybe she bit her nails. TBH though I don't really care, I just want the storyline over and Bates to be written out of the script to make way for rather more interesting story lines.

Davros · 17/10/2012 18:47

Course he's Irish for feck's sake, in RL anyway, have ye seen his name? And Vera definitely Irish too. I'm an expert ha ha.

ErikNorseman · 17/10/2012 19:03

Haha yes Brendan Coyle is pretty Irish!

JennaLemon · 17/10/2012 21:46

i;m only watching the episode you've all been discussing for four days NOW. i'm traumatised.

blisterpack · 17/10/2012 22:28

Wish they'd get the Bates storyline over and done with. Just hang him JF, nobody cares.

I saw an online article where Bates is described as a heartthrob Confused. That really is pushing it a little.

squoosh · 17/10/2012 22:38

People are MAD for Bates, to be fair he's probably as baffled as we are. But I'm as equally unattracted to Cousin Matthew, his jaw line is so weak.

And yes before you ask I am a human without a single physical flaw. We're a rare old breed.

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 17/10/2012 22:39

Bejeezus! Brendan Coyle is the same age as me! He looks ancient. Anyway according to wiki he was born in Corby, Northamptonshire to an Irish father and Scottish mother "who emigrated to Corby". He studied drama in Dublin so maybe he grew up there.

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 17/10/2012 22:41

Frankly the only one I would snog is Thomas and he bats for the other team. Story of my life really.

squoosh · 17/10/2012 22:43

How old is he? I thought 52?

IAmSheWhoMustBeObeyed · 17/10/2012 22:46
JustSpidero · 17/10/2012 22:48

Brendan Coyle is brilliant in 'North & South' which has the added bonus of Richard Armitage being all brooding and masterful!

squoosh · 17/10/2012 22:49

If only DA had a Richard Armitage type character. He was HOT.

JustSpidero · 17/10/2012 23:05

squoosh - I certainly don't need converting. If you feel the need for an Richard Armitage fix you'll have to come and join the rest of us nutters lovely ladies at the UMN on OTBT Grin!

HoratiaWinwood · 17/10/2012 23:17

Paws off Richard Armitage. He is MINE ALL MINE.

I'm a bit pissed off that he has been so busy with The Hobbit that he has been off our screens for the best part of a year. Spidero and Squoosh

JustSpidero · 17/10/2012 23:21

I think you'll find there's quite a team of us that have staked our claim Horatia (have you listened to the Georgette Heyer audiobooks he's done btw?).

You're welcome to join the rota Wink!

Davros · 17/10/2012 23:28

Davros · 17/10/2012 23:29
