I have been waiting for this for a very long time! :-)

OP posts:

And DT couldn't have gone to see them when he was in Manhattan with the Daleks because Ten didn't know the Ponds, or even River at that time.
Also, assuming the modern New York scenes were 2012 or later, then if Rory was 82 when he died, his apparent birthdate must have been 1930 or later, so he couldn't have gone back as an adult to 1931 (the year the Empire State Building was finished) he would have gone to about 1960.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 29/09/2012 23:07

ZOMG rusty my brain just can't work that out.

so he told her the story of herself and that also helped her to remember him? or told her before he was deleted and her parents were reinstated?

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 29/09/2012 23:09

did it, kay? definitely? i'm sure i remember it being tardis-like? haven't watched that with the nippers yet as it was a pretty scary one.

so yes yes to DT not knowing them yet... got that, good.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 29/09/2012 23:11

lol re journal, it definitely was brown, and not only that, you can buy one plus a sonic screwdriver for twenty bucks. Grin

good, that has always confused me. i presumed she'd got hold of the journal somehow.

So when the angels got both of them at tthe end - were they taken back to the tower block with the rooms and the beds? Are they having to spend 40 years in there before dying, but at least they're together??????

LilyBolero · 29/09/2012 23:13

"Although how she published without reading it is a huge plot hole. And a paradox because she didn't know what the Doctor was reading. "

It's timelines - it was later in Amy's timeline, but in actual years, was before they arrived there.

I love Stephen Moffat, I love Matt Smith and I love the Ponds. And I did cry!

LetUsPrey · 29/09/2012 23:15

I don't like knowing its going to be sad. I felt a bit emotional but I somehow think I should have been more emotional. Agree that the episodes need to be longer.

The Angels creep me out. I had to go outside about 40 minutes ago to put something in the bin. Peter Kay is right - you really do run faster when you're wearing slippers.

LilyBolero · 29/09/2012 23:15

No, they didn't go back to the towerblock, they lived a happy life in New York, but the tower block didn't exist, because of the paradox they created.

LilyBolero · 29/09/2012 23:16

The idea of the Angels creating a farm, sending people back in time, and then feeding off their energy is quite freaky!

ExitPursuedByJKR · 29/09/2012 23:18

A happy life in New York.

Lovely.

I can go to be now.

ExitPursuedByJKR · 29/09/2012 23:19

bed

Tut!

RustyBear · 29/09/2012 23:26

When the angel at the end got them, they didn't get taken to the Winter Quay, because that didn't exist, it had been destroyed (or rather ceased to have existed) when the Ponds died and caused the paradox. That killed the angels in the building but presumably not all the angels everywhere, or there wouldn't have been any at Wester Drumlins in Blink. Different angels send you back to different times. In Blink Kathy went to 1920 and the Doctor, Martha and Billy Shipton all went to 1969; the Doctor thought that Billy had 'probably' been touched by the same Angel as him and Martha as he'd ended up in the same time, but he obviously wasn't sure, because he said to Amy that she might not end up in the same time as Rory.

RustyBear · 29/09/2012 23:31

Another thing I was wondering about was that the detective and Rory's older selves both died the same day they were touched, and so did Billy Shipton in Blink (though the first two died before their younger selves were touched and Billy died several hours after). Was that just a coincidence? Kathy died several years before she was touched, but of course she was sent back much earlier than the others.

..and, of course, in the end Rory wasn't actually touched at all, but at the time his older self died, he had been...

I think it's time for bed....

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 29/09/2012 23:36

rory wasn't touched at all? how's that? didn't the angel sneak up on him?

RustyBear · 29/09/2012 23:43

Sorry, I meant he wasn't touched at all by the angels in the building so he didn't end up dying in that bed....

LetUsPrey · 29/09/2012 23:43

Any significance with Winter Quay and the words (I think) Rapture of Summer that Rory translated on the vase?

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 29/09/2012 23:45

gotcha

teejwood · 30/09/2012 00:18

Sorry all, I went off to drool over pasta and italian beaches on catch-up on BBC4.

Rapture of Summer - code for River Song, no?

teejwood · 30/09/2012 00:19

Loving Rusty's work as always Grin

DuaneDibbley · 30/09/2012 06:32

Help! Why did Amy get taken by the angels, when it looked like The Doctor and River were still looking at it?

mynameis · 30/09/2012 07:13

Ok I'm confuddled.
How did the Doctor go back for the last page if he couldn't go back to New York?

TheAngelshavetheOod · 30/09/2012 07:48

They were in present day new York to start with. So he went back there for the page. Think it was 1960- 20?? That were blocked off.
