Anyone watching or am I all alone?

Was posting on the other thread but wondered if people might have been put off by the title thinking it was only for speculation.

what did everyone find wrong with the actress who played brodys wife?

difficultpickle · 06/05/2012 23:29

I've never heard of Laura Fraser and I don't know what her acting is like. All I can say is she would have been better than MB. My ds's current fav toy - a Club Penguin puffle - would have been a better choice than MB.

Vicar she can't act. It's like watching Thunderbirds but without the strings.

What am I going to do in Sunday nights? Will Carrie remember about Brody knowing Abu Nazir's son? Will Saul get Carrie back into Langley by blackmail? It's such a good series. Claire Danes is a truly amazing actress and the character of Carrie has been such a refreshing change from the absolute crap roles that represent female characters. Can't bloody wait for the next series. Leave it alone Sky Atlantic, can't afford your fees!

MrsKitty · 06/05/2012 23:53

Brilliant. Loved it.

Still pretty sure Saul's good and David's bad (or perhaps just misguided and power hungry).

When Brody went to meet Walker I thought he was actually going to meet the CIA mole and that the mole would have the SD card - not sure who has the SD card now...

Really hope C4 keep hold if season 2 as we have no Sky. C4 buyers, if you're listening - I will hunt you down if you lose this to Sky Angry

difficultpickle · 07/05/2012 00:14

Didn't factor in a move to Sky being a possibility. We don't have it either. I did think it odd that the continuity announcer didn't know when series 2 would be on, saying it wasn't filmed yet. It is scheduled in the US for Sept which should mean Feb next year here.

Channel four have anniunced they are showing series two.

I loved it I think I forgot to breath most of it.

I had decided that saul is a goody, but forgot about the mole. Hope its not him. I luffs him.

CointreauVersial · 07/05/2012 01:07

OMG, all soooo exciting.

I just knew they'd leave some loose ends, what with there being a second series, but not this many!

Carrie could say the sky was blue and no-one would believe her now. But will she remember about Nazeer's son??

And what will I do on a Sunday evening now? And what will I talk about at work on a Monday??

molly3478 · 07/05/2012 08:01

Loved it last night and dont know how I will wait until season 2.

Also for all you ad haters I started watching it 20 minutes in on sky + then you can fast forward all the ads

bluesatinsash · 07/05/2012 10:56

Another sky+ here and whizzed through...

Loved the "why kill the man when you can kill the idea" line and Walker ruffling the old lady's hair..

Clare Danes was superb last night

I'm sure I read Damian Lewis wasn't in the second series Confused?

Ah well, back to 'The Bridge' and 'Smash' my dark/light ying and yang.

coffeeinbed · 07/05/2012 11:06

There's a second season teaser on you tube - link in the Guardian review this morning.

eatyourveg · 07/05/2012 11:10

Saul is the baddie - convinced of it

Why didn't Brodie stop to get the computer chip off Walker after he shot him? Coz he knew Walker didn't have it. Saul is the one who made the second chalk mark

How did Saul get those CDs to blackmail VP?

Saul is doing his utmost to make sure mad Carrie stays out of the way so she doesn't mess things up.

Nazir knew the bomb wouldn't work - it was a test of loyalty

difficultpickle · 07/05/2012 11:11

There is no new footage in that though. Interestingly the actor who plays David said in a newspaper article that he'd been back in the UK for 6 months and hadn't had any work. I wonder when they are filming the second series?

whackamole · 07/05/2012 11:36

I really really enjoyed the whole series and thought Claire Danes was brilliant. There were a couple of points that bothered me though, and I'm not sure if it's just me being thick.

Was the plot by Brodie something he just thought up by himself? Because otherwise the whole, get rescued, get recommended for office, find himself conveniently invited to the VP thing - PLUS his buddy who he thought was dead provided the distraction - seems a bit convenient.

Or had he dreamed up the plot with the vest himself, once he realised he would be near the VP, and the distraction was an added bonus? He clearly didn't realise that Tom Walker was alive.

swanthingafteranother · 07/05/2012 11:37

I thought the bit where the daughter suddenly speaks to him on the phone was a bit like an angel intervening in some Old Testament moment! It was very humbling...Brody was so scared and so convinced he had to DO IT then she rescued him with that little tearful voice. It was like triumph of personal moral code over the indoctrinated ideological Brody. And it was really Carrie that saves Brody. Very moving. Also the black humour of him being interrupted whilst pressing the button of bomb and feeling like they had caught him out! All farcical in a way like real life crisis situations. And the truly horrid character of Vice President.

coffeeinbed · 07/05/2012 11:40

But his daughter ringing him meant she believed Carrie so know she knows there's something wrong with her dad. She had her doubts all along anyway. I kept thinking she'll find the vest.

Mumsyblouse · 07/05/2012 11:44

I thought the daughter was a really good actress as well, her phone call was really gripping, I just couldn't think what she was going to say.

Restarted breathing now, it was a great episode.

difficultpickle · 07/05/2012 11:47

He was following Nazir's orders. He did know Walker was alive before they met in the last episode.

OP posts:
LeBOF · 07/05/2012 12:04

I don't think the daughter believes Carrie. She was just upset and worried about her dad. But she definitely has her doubts.

coffeeinbed · 07/05/2012 12:07

No, that's right.
I meant "believed" as in deep down knowing something;s off but not wanting to see it staring in your face type of thing.

LeBOF · 07/05/2012 12:07

Oh, here's a thought: the phone (the magic one that has coverage in underground bunkers)- was it Carrie's? Will there be a record somewhere, as it was routed via the secret service) of the contents of the call?

difficultpickle · 07/05/2012 12:11

I assume they have a special aerial for phone reception. The technology is available as they are talking about putting it on the London underground.

OP posts:
LeBOF · 07/05/2012 12:24

I thought it must be something like that. The phone gets left at the Brodies'- it could have all sorts of sensitive information and numbers on.

noddyholder · 07/05/2012 13:41

Just brilliant

diddl · 07/05/2012 13:55

Disappointed tbh.

Don´t know what I expected, but that was a real let down.

How did they ever know that Brody would get in the bunker at all?

I suppose it would have been too much to have an "all American" guy actually blow himself up?

Was hoping that he would only pretend to shoot Walker.

And Walker was turned as well?

So he decided not to detonate due to his daughter, but no qualms about shooting Walker who had been through the same as him.

Didn´t ring true at all somehow.
