The big Corrie thread (Spoiler Alert!)

For those of us who have no life care about Corrie and want to see it returned to its former glory.

And want answers to questions such as:

Why are Sean and Marcus moving back into Eileen's pokey house instead of getting a place of their own as other couples with two wages would do?

And does anyone else apart from me and Edith Weston remember when Corrie was on two days a week and was a high quality drama/comedy?

Terry Duckworth always had two facial experessions

Sneering

Extra sneering

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/04/2012 16:05

Three - leering.

He's bound to come crawling back now his son has come into an inheritance I suppose.

LineRunner · 15/04/2012 16:12

Then he can do jeering.

FrillyMilly · 15/04/2012 19:55

Is £12k really that much to lure Terry back? He's got to have spent a good chunk on that tv and campervan already.

SweetestThing · 16/04/2012 12:26

I just had to share this with you fellow Corrie fans! I was lucky enough to meet Katherine Kelly (Becky) last night and she is the loveliest, most delightfully down-to-earth and kind person. Quite happy to have her photo taken with me, chatted about the London Marathon and Corrie - just as I imagined she would be!

Sorry for the name dropping, but I thought you might share my excitement at meeting a Corrie icon! Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/04/2012 12:28

Aww! I would be excited too!

TheScottishPlayer · 16/04/2012 12:28

She's always come across really nice and friendly interviews. I really liked Becky (despite some dodgy writing for her).

Nancy66 · 16/04/2012 12:33

Steve needs a new love interest, who's it going to be?

.....I'm thinking Stella

whatkungfuthat · 16/04/2012 12:48

Could be Stella, Karl is a nothing character really.

I know it won't be Beth but it did make me laugh when she lured Steve round after Tracey encouraged her, when it didn't go to plan she said "what a waste of a good bath" Grin Also, if she's called Beth why does she have a 'C' round her neck?

detachandtrustyourself · 16/04/2012 14:52

Does Beth remind anyone else of, I think her name was Cilla, in looks and brashness etc. I think she was Chesney's mum, her and Les Battersby fell through a ceiling in a massive bath, and when she got married the curls of hair on her forhead looked like 666?

whatkungfuthat · 16/04/2012 16:27

I didn't really watch it then but I know who she is. How did they write her out?

detachandtrustyourself · 16/04/2012 16:31

Can't remember. Gone to live in spain with some bloke? (the default place people go)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/04/2012 16:34

Les got written out as going on the road with Status Quo (as if!) in a hurry when the actor got on the wrong side of the law. CAn't remember if Cilla went with him or if they had split by then. Beth does look a lot like her.

MadameChinLegs · 16/04/2012 16:43

Where does everyone park their cars? Sally maria kirsty rita at least all have cars yet they only appear on the street when part of the story. Maybe they park them at the nursery.

How do they afford the houses? Probably sell for £75k but a single lady working at a factory couldnt get a mortgage for that.

detachandtrustyourself · 16/04/2012 17:19

apparantly cilla went to live in Las Vegas.

They can afford houses and childcare on factory wages.

They storm out of jobs giving no notice but easily get the jobs back again when they want.

I want Tyrone's pregnant girlfriend to leave. The child can return in 20 years time, con ty out of money, then turn out not to be his.

Nancy66 · 16/04/2012 17:30

they mostly rent don't they?

i'm always amused that nobody shags anyone that lives more than 4 doors away.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/04/2012 18:03

The street set is only 2/3 full size houses, so they can't put many cars out there as they would look too big. It is very unrealistic though.

They afford their houses by taking in so many lodgers!

BrightnessFalls · 16/04/2012 19:25

How can they afford to get their hair done every week? When they have a night out why don't they go further then the top of the street? They have Manchester on their doorstep!! The young ones never go to see bands or anything.

PoorAudreyHorseface · 16/04/2012 19:51

SweetestThing - I'm glad KK was lovely - did you invite her onto this thread? Smile

Why did Granada Studios close to the public? I had some great photos posing outside the Rovers and the little houses. When my dds got interested I couldn't believe we could no longer go. Sad

FrillyMilly · 16/04/2012 21:07

Didn't it close because less people where going? I remember when I went I loved seeing coronation street but a lot of the rest was already starting to date. There was a borrowers bit and a Sherlock Holmes bit. A replica of 10 downing street and the houses I parliament. I can't remember anything else? I wonder what will happen to it when they move to salvors quays.

Has tommy really no idea what his dad looks like?

TheScottishPlayer · 16/04/2012 21:12

The Granada Corrie tour according to Wikipedia here

LeeCoakley · 16/04/2012 21:22

That was interesting reading. I'd forgotten that behind the facades were just props. At the time it was weird, I expected to look through the letterboxes into actual homes!

Nancy66 · 16/04/2012 21:30

...hilarious that there's another wine bar being built on Coronation Street.

A cobbled street with a factory at one end and where the average salary must be 14k a year - yet there's a thriviing upmarket bistro and now a funky new bar too!!

LeeCoakley · 16/04/2012 21:51

Yikes! I didn't recognise Terry! He looks like John Prescott. Shock He was always so skinny!
