I'm watching despite being bored of it.

That sickly sweet midwife must get punched on a regular basis by crotchety women in labour.

PineCones · 14/03/2012 21:14

aw i lurves sergei !

LadyFingers · 14/03/2012 21:14

AND - you don't need to be lying on a bed to be monitored. sit in a chair. sit on a ball. stand up.

ohmeohmy · 14/03/2012 21:14

I had intermittent monitoring standing up

Kellamity · 14/03/2012 21:14

That was precisely my thinking too, Pinecones Surely it can't be proportionally representative?

ahhhhhpushit · 14/03/2012 21:16

yes pinecones every week it grates on me.

TinOfTigerFood · 14/03/2012 21:16

I haven't had a baby before but when I do I hope to have a home birth, it looks like people go in to hospital hours before they're actually in labour- am I wrong?

Hassled · 14/03/2012 21:16

Oh yes - the "don't panic, never panic" bit winds me right up.

I like fostered girl's mum. She's gone a bit mad with the kohl but she seems lovely.

landofsoapandglory · 14/03/2012 21:16

ilove I am keeping it, I am hoping that it will be easy to get a bikini body this year!

40notTrendy · 14/03/2012 21:16

First time I'm real time OBEM. I've got a whisky mac. Grin. I warn you now, I usually sob.

ViviPru · 14/03/2012 21:16

PineCones · 14/03/2012 21:17

vivi if it IS, then i (as an over thirty without any children) am an endangered species!

EthelredOnAGoodDay · 14/03/2012 21:17

I love it as much as the other two series, but I am near Leeds do that gives me the local interest factor....

Imps7 · 14/03/2012 21:17

I read on another thread that each couple is paid in the region of £10k to appear on OBEM - does anyone know if this is true?

ViviPru · 14/03/2012 21:17

See you ladies - its off to Masterchef for me Sad

ilove · 14/03/2012 21:17

I had 3 babies at this hospital and to be honest the midwives and the care were fantastic. I gave birth to my daughter on TV and was filmed at the Clarendon Wing right through, although not with fixed cameras - 2 crew were in with us.

ViviPru · 14/03/2012 21:17

haha Pine me too. We're kindred spirits :)

Hassled · 14/03/2012 21:18

TinofTigerFood - it depends, and really I think most people go in when they reach the extent of their pain threshold. With my DC1 he was born about 2 hours after I came in.

ilove · 14/03/2012 21:18

oh, and there was definitely no payment - I doubt that they've paid them to be on tbh

Bue · 14/03/2012 21:18

Does anyone think this dad looks like he has a millipede on his head?

LadyFingers · 14/03/2012 21:18

Mum seems nice and sensible.

Showmethemhappyfeet · 14/03/2012 21:19

Unfortunately you can't always be monitored in a chair/ball. I had a rocking chair for a few hours, which was great as I was induced and monitored so strapped up to all sorts. Had to move to the bed coz the little bugger was wriggling away from the monitor! Made loads of trips the loo just for an excuse to get up lol... Drip and all! Hmm
