JennyPiccolo · 14/03/2012 22:00

HepHep · 14/03/2012 22:00

Next week looks good!

ahhhhhpushit · 14/03/2012 22:00

see the injuries to that poor boy's head Sad

GrumpyPlops · 14/03/2012 22:00

night everyone xxxxxxxxxxx

TinOfTigerFood · 14/03/2012 22:00

agreed jeely he was so immature about it.. she went through all that pain and all he could think about was his own selfish wishes.
I personally would never give my child my name it seems so self aggrandising

PineCones · 14/03/2012 22:01

till next week!

Bue · 14/03/2012 22:01

Wellwisher you don't cry when it's real life (usually). There's no manipulative background music Grin

JeelyPiece · 14/03/2012 22:02

Two gorgeous babies there, reminded me of when my DS was born almost one year ago and making me broody for another!

Next week looks more interesting.

bumpsnowjustplump · 14/03/2012 22:02

Ah bless two lovely boys..

I have had three assisted deliveries and being mobile didn't help me at all. I got to fully dilated fine no problems but couldn't get the babies out.

Moln · 14/03/2012 22:06

same here i was mobile / birthing ball through labour - he jsut got stuck - high forceps all too similar to the ones a few weeks ago for me (then a c-section)

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 14/03/2012 22:06

I seriously think that this series has been about drama rather than information. There are so many birth scenarios they could have picked, but we've seen more flat on the back, and/or forceps deliveries than any thing else. This series has a competent different 'feel' with a totally different energy to it, than the last. I actually blame channel 4 itself. There's an awful lot of heavily biased editing on a lot of their programmes based at shocking people at the moment.

newgirl · 14/03/2012 22:08

I would have lOved chirpy midwife I thought she was really caring. Mine were grumpy and tired and bit rubbish :( felt quite envious!

Can't believe baby going to be Richard Leah had no say at all!

worzelswife · 14/03/2012 22:23

I really wish hadn't watched this tonight. Sad I have PTSD and seeing someone in pain being so ignored has set off horrible memories. (not of childbirth I have to say, I woke up during surgery once) The Mormon girl seemed to be in agony and her husband didn't reassure her at all, and neither did the midwife. The crowning shot was hideous too (the screaming). Really don't feel good now. Even if they couldn't give her an epidural they could have tried to support her more.

Plus I had someone in the room going 'these women are so fucking stupid saying they're in pain, my friend is a doctor (delivering babies) and he tells me all the the time how stupid these women are because having an epidural brings on other interventions. They just complain all the time.' I almost punched him. What the fuck would he know?

worzelswife · 14/03/2012 22:24

Plus every time one of them screamed or moaned he started laughing. Sad I hate people sometimes.

It made me remember exactly how fucking painful childbirth was.

OTOH, it made me realise just how damn clever I was :o

Tricksterfrickster · 14/03/2012 22:47

.

BlackLetterDay · 14/03/2012 22:54

I find it mad how some Women just seem to breathe them out, like the lovely waterbirth, I find that the most improbable, how the hell could anyone do that.

My Mum had 5 vaginal births with no painkillers and minimalised the whole childbirth thing, she was always going on about playing cards between contractions, she did actually tear with every single birth though Confused. She was a big panic merchant when i was in labour too Hmm.

Tricksterfrickster · 14/03/2012 22:54

Just checking name change there. Thoroughly enjoyed tonight's episode. Am friends with Mary Poppins midwife and have worked with her in the past, she is as lovely and kind and genuine as she seems (and that's her real voice, even when she's cross, which happens rarely!) She has also given birth if that makes a difference!! I would have loved her to be my midwife but sadly she couldn't. She is genuinely one of the nicest people I've met who never has a bad word to say about anyone. Thought I'd just put in my two-penneth worth!

JeelyPiece · 14/03/2012 22:57

How do you mean clever SoupDragon?

worzelswife · 14/03/2012 23:14

She seemed lovely trickster Smile. I'd rather meet someone lovely and chirpy with the potential to get on peoples' nerves, than someone moody and grumpy and miserable. Sure she's great at her job too.

Clever in a "holy crap I did that" kind of way, Jeely.

Sparklingbrook · 15/03/2012 07:10

Oh there were babies in the end then? I must have fallen asleep. Grin I am now officially done with Gypsy Weddings and OBEM. Enough.
